  1. He comes to play in big games. If we get the 10th overall somehow id take him if Ehlers, Virtanen and Fleury are gone at that point.

Yeah i think there's a lot to like about Fabbri. Great skater, great hands, very good shot.. He will play defence as well. He's working his f'ing ass off to create his chances. He's no floater. He plays bigger than his actual size. He will throw hits. He plays the PK. He's very unpredictable and he's entertaining to watch, you can tell that he has some high hockey IQ. I definitely think that he fits the bill for what the management defines as a "canuck". As you said, he's got great mentality for big games. He's a difference maker. Overall he seems very professional. The only negative thing about him really, again, is that he's a little bit below average size. Would love to get that 10th overall, pick a "big" player like Dal Colle/Ritchie at 6th, and then pick some pure skill with the 10th overall, like Fabbri/Nylander/Ehlers. Would be a perfect mix.

  2. Early assessment on Fabbri:

His playoff rose his stock, but not enough for us to consider him. The Storm was just a really, really good team this year, and he didn't even lead his team in scoring. Pass.

I wouldn't consider Fabbri at 6th, but if we acquire that 10th overall from Anaheim i would definitely consider him. Not saying i'd pick him, but he definitely deserves some consideration at that spot. I'd say he's the dark horse of this draft. Wouldn't be surprised if he went top10, just because of that strong playoff performance. He's not THAT small, 5'10 and still growing. His skating is not a weakness. Yes Guelph had a great team, but he was still their 3rd best scorer, and their 2nd best goalscorer in the regular season. He scored the 2nd most goals of all players in the playoffs, even though he played 4 games less than most Guelph players. Barclay Goodrow had 1 goal more than Fabbri, and he played 22 games compared to Fabbri's 16 games. On top of that, he was named the OHL's playoff MVP. He went on and had a great Memorial Cup run with Guelph, 6 points in 4 games. Rychel was the only player on Guelph that had more points than him.

  3. I still wanna see linden and benning have some success out of the gate but getting one of those players would be unreal haha.

If we do tank next year I kinda hope we take a dman(unless Mcdavid or Eichel are there). Do the opposite of what Edmonton did, grab the franchise dman first then start taking forwards. Then your 23 yr old dman steps into the league and grows with your star 20yr old forwards.

Don't agree with you completely. I guess it's too soon to discuss best possible pick in the 2015 draft right now, because we have no idea what's going to happen in this years draft, and we have no idea where we'll end up next year. Will anyone from the projected top5 this year (Dal Colle/Draisaitl) drop? If not, will we pick a winger with the 6th overall or will we pick a center (Nylander)? Will Kesler stay or will we trade him? Going into this draft, we don't really have ANY center prospect with "true 1st line potential". That's probably your organization's most important position. Looking at the 2015 draft, there are plenty of centers with realistic franchise/1st line potential. Sure, there's also a few franchise defensemen like Hanifin, Kylington. But personally, i would rather pick a center with realistic 1st line potential, at least in our position. Especially since the 2015 draft is such a good draft for centers.

  4. Blaming Trotz for benching a guy twice, cause he is a spoiled flake who doesnt care about the team? Youtube the video of Radulov hitting his own coach. Shows you what kind of guy he is.

I can't even imagine how CDC would react if our coach benched our best offensive guy in the playoffs, twice. I've seen that before, and that's Salavat Yulaev's goalie coach, not just his coach. I highly doubt it's intentional, he apologizes right after hitting him.

  5. Your post is brainless. Radulov is the biggest flake. He even hit his own coach in the face with his stick in Russia.

Lol. The guy came back to Nashville after playing in Russia for some time. He played 17 games in the NHL before he went back to the KHL and CSKA Moscow. Under this short period of time in Nashville, Trotz had him out of the line-up 2 times. Why do you think he went back to the NHL if he didn't want to play there? Maybe he didn't have dedication for the team, but even a freaking idiot would realize that Radulov went back to Russia because of Trotz. Trotz sitting him out twice obviously had major influence on his decision to go back to the KHL. Radulov being spoiled or not is a completely different story.

  6. Rinne hasn't shown up for 2 years?

Well considering he was injured for more than half the season this year, that would be pretty difficult for him.

The year before he put up average numbers in a lockout season after the team lost one of the biggest pieces on their team in Suter. Clearly there was going to be a drop off in defense, with none of their young D-men ready to step up and replace him. Acting like the team was no different without him is just silly though, and it's an argument you're not gonna win.

I was never a fan of Torts from the beginning. I said it would be like Keenan all over again, and I was right. I did give him credit for the run in December, thinking that maybe he had changed his ways. However, after the Calgary incident, I knew it was the same old Torts. A coach that can't even control his own emotions is not going to be stable enough to lead a team anywhere.

Hornqvist was a draft day steal? Or was he a decent player that was developed properly under good leadership? It's easy to say in hindsight he always would have become a good player. Credit always has to be given to coaches though, just like AV gets credit for helping develop guys like Burrows, Kesler, Edler, Raymond, and Hansen.

Regardless of injury, .902 2.77 are pretty damn bad numbers. Last year he had .910 which is also very average. Suter or not. Especially on such a defensive minded team. Does it matter if it's lock-out season or not? How? He could be a goalie that's declining. Who knows?

One thing i think is worth mentioning, is that new additions such as Santorelli, Stanton and Richardson had pretty much career years under Torts. Coincidence? Meanwhile, other players were stuck with AV's "slacker mentality". We went from a "slacker coach" to a coach of the complete opposite. That's a big change. Torts had 1 year to prove himself on this team. Trotz had plenty of more time in Nashville. It would be stupid to blame everything on Torts this season. Things takes time. I think Torts deserved at least 1 more year here.

When you draft a player, you will sometimes see them as draft steals right away. Improving a lot each season. Hornqvist is one of those cases. As i said, he had a very good year in the SHL at the age of 19.

But in that case, why doesn't you give any credit to Torts? Because according to you, he's a horrible coach, even though he developed far more good players under his short time in NY than, say, AV did in Vancouver. Torts is a reason why the Rangers are were they are right now, for sure.

  7. Man up and set your ego aside.

There's no point in trying to save your argument anymore. Just because you have completely failed to present any valid points as to why Trotz wouldn't be a fit with this team, doesn't mean that you have to keep pathetically droning on just for the sake of winning an argument.

The more you keep talking, the worse you're going to look.

Yeah, let's call me out. That's really fair, i wasn't the one who began with this sh*t. Stick with the "more respected" guy on the board even though he hasn't posted anything relevant at all in this thread, except after i called him out. Good job J.R.

I couldn't care less what people here think. J.R were acting like a child so why shouldn't i call him out?

Suter, Legwand, Erat, Weber, Hamhuis, Jarnkrok, Sissons, Jones, Ellis, Josi, Stalberg, and mroe.

All of these guys were and are basically owing their current careers and contracts to Barry freaking Trotz.

He squeezes everything out of players that by rights would have been riding the pine on a Torts or AV style team. And these are only a few names. Trotz gets the most out of his roster no matter what, he develops his prospects very well and he gives everyone a fair shake doing it. Added he also has saved more than a few careers behind the bench.

Torts might have been a good coach under the right circumstances or given enough time.

But to say Trotz won't work out here is laughable.

Stalberg? Jarnkrok? Sissons is still playing in the AHL. Jones might have been the 2nd best player in last years draft. I never said Trotz wasn't a good coach. But to be fair, Nashville didn't do anything extraordinary over the course of 15 years. You could state different things why Nashville didn't do better over this amount of time. But 15 years is a long time. He was and is a good coach, but people shouldn't overrate him.

  8. Wow, you're really trying too hard to discredit Trotz.

Rinne was and is a huge part of their team. Anyone that argues that losing him wouldn't hurt their chances is out to lunch.

Torts made the Conference finals once with a star studded team and a world class goaltender. He was never able to get the most out of those stars though, which was ultimately his demise. Trotz on the other hand has been able to get the most out of 7th round draft picks like Erat and Hornqvist.

Not sure why you're bothering to defend Tortorella though. I'm not sure he has many supporters left on here. It's clear his old methods of coaching are no longer effective in the new NHL. My bet is he's out of the NHL for awhile, if not permanently now.

Rinne hasn't showed up for 2 years. That's a fact. We will never know if they would've made the playoffs with him because it didn't happen. As i said, both Hutton and Mazanec were pretty hot, before they both cooled off.

It wouldn't surprise me if you were a Torts fan when he was around here, especially after the 1st half of the season. You seems like that type of guy. But now that he's gone, and not a part of the organisation, there's no reason for you to not bash him. Trotz might be our next coach, so you gotta stick up for him, saying he's an absolutely amazing coach.

Ofc the Rangers had a freaking amazing team. Anything to make Torts sound bad, right? Torts is the only reason why they didn't win the Stanley Cup. It was all Torts. Torts wasn't around when players like Stepan, McDonagh, Hagelin, Staal, Girardi, Del Zotto made major impacts to the Rangers. Oh wait.

Hornqvist was a draft steal. Draft position is irrelevant. He was seen as a good player before he even played for Nashville. Please don't give all credit to Trotz. Hornqvist had a great year in Sweden as a 19 year old.

  9. Please continue! Far more riveting than any of the other discussion taking place here today. *cough* Hedman *cough*

The amount of irony in this post is too damn high. You're the only reason why this thread has gone completely off-topic. You can't actually make any sort of arguments. Your only response will be "it's not worth trying to explain" or something along those lines. Wow that's so weak. Are you an adult-baby?

  10. Hedman apparently has some silly ruse planned for offering some sort of non-descript cookies to CDC users with no plan to actually follow through.

I believe it may be some new form of cookie-trolling.

Lol you're the only troll in this thread. All your posts in this thread should be deleted because they don't contain any sort of substance. But i guess that's why you're the one talking about "troll-cookies", probably your favorite type of cookies... Suits ya right

Rinne was coming off of hip surgery. A healthy Rinne for the whole season would have definitely made a difference. Those two are not in the same realm as Rinne when he's healthy and going.

Tortorella got them past the first round twice, once losing to Boston in 5 in the second round. I wouldn't say he did a pretty good job, far from it. Especially considering the rosters he had during his time there, plus the best goalie in the world.

Was he coming off a hip surgery the season before as well when he was about just as average?

Anything to make Trotz sound like a better choice, right? He also made the Conference finals once, but that's not worth mentioning right? Losing to Boston is such a choke... Not like they might be the most complete team in the league. Get out.

  11. And you'll get that answer when I find out what kind of cookies I would be receiving. No sooner! Am I clear?

Do you think I'm some fool who will commit to or turn down cookies without any information as what type of cookie it is or whether it was mass produced, home made etc?

    CDC

As i said, my intention was not to give you any cookies. I just asked if you wanted 1. Maybe you should go buy your cookies by yourself?

  12. Most teams except Dallas and Phoenix who were average in their last 10, opening a window for each team to make it.

I never said they were such a good team. I said that they did very respectable considering the roster they had. And a big reason they didn't make it was because Rinne missed 51 games due to hip surgery. If they had Rinne this season, they would have almost certainly made the playoffs.

Yes they are two different things, and so were Nashville beating Chicago and Vancouver beating St.Louis. Again, Nashville picked apart the Hawks, scoring 7 on them twice and shutting them out once. The Canucks on the other hand squeaked by the Blues while getting badly outplayed. That's a big difference.

Trotz is a good coach. People that think otherwise are probably the same people that wanted Tortorella because he won a cup 10 years ago. Or the ones that wanted AV gone because he was a defense first coach.

Dallas was average yes. Phoenix? No way. I wouldn't say 3-4-3 is average, or a good way of finishing of the season. That's the reason why they didn't make the playoffs.

You can't say that for sure. Rinne wasn't even good when he played. He was just as good as Hutton and Mazanec. I also recall both of those having hot-streaks, before cooling off.

Then why did you even bring that up? Do you think that Nashville would beat Chicago in a playoff series? I couldn't care less how many goals they scored. They didn't score a lot of goals this season anyways. The only thing that matters is winning games. You won't score 7 goals against the Hawks in the playoffs. Or are we looking for a coach that can win us another presidents trophy, before being eliminated in the 1st round?

I never said that Trotz is a bad coach. Seems like people are overrating him though. So, you're saying that Tortorella is a bad coach? He did a pretty good job with the Rangers.

  13. At that point every team at the bottom except for the bottom 3 were close. The point is they gave it their best effort and didn't just collapse. That shows character in a team.

Going 7-1-2 against teams like Chicago, San Jose, Anaheim, Dallas, and Phoenix isn't luck. That's a determined team right there that pushed hard in a last ditch effort. A team that played hard for their coach despite being outmatched by most teams.

The Hawks are a better team than the Blues. They proved that this spring.

Doubt that. It was all about Phoenix,Dallas, with Vancouver being the outsider. I believe that's what most teams do, even if they're out of the playoffs.

Then why didn't they do that for the rest of the season? Why didn't they make the playoffs if they're such a good team?

Playoffs and regular season are 2 different things. You know that. Yet, you brought up Trotz going 4-1 against the Hawks in....wait for it... the regular season.

  14. They weren't out with 10 games left.

Unlike the Canucks, some teams battle right until they're mathematically eliminated. Saying the games didn't matter because the odds were against them is loser talk.

And just to counter this talk that they weren't very good this season. They managed to go 4-1 against the Blackhawks, and scored 7 goals on them twice. I don't know about you, but I'd like to have a coach that knows how to pick apart the best team in the league.

Not mathematically no, but seriously, there's no way they would have made the playoffs. With 10 games remaining, they were sitting at the 4th overall pick or something like that, while there were PLENTY of teams above them, including the Canucks. They were pretty much as lucky as they could've been. They were never really close.

Doesn't say too much to me. Torts won against St. Louis 3 out of 3 times. They were better than the Hawks in the regular season.

  15. They won crucial games when they needed to. The opposite of what the Canucks did.

A couple win and loss swings both ways and they would have made it. At least they made a push and didn't like alot of teams do.

They won "crucial games" when they were out of the playoff-race. They had no pressure on them so they won a few games when it didn't matter. Phoenix lost 6 out of their 7 last games. They finished off their season by defeating Dallas in a game that didn't matter since they were already out.

  16. Don't look at the standings to see how close they were?

That's silly cause you said they weren't even close, when they clearly were. Yes, they probably weren't going to get by both, but the point is they were within striking distance, despite having a pretty inferior roster.

They were close if you look at the standings yes. But they went 7-1-2 when they were pretty much out of the race. No way that they would pass both Phoenix and Dallas.

  17. Have you seen their roster?

When Patrick Hornqvist is your highest paid forward, you've got problems.

They have a good young D-core, but they are still very raw. The fact that they were even in a position to make the playoffs with such a young D-core, is a testament to Trotz's ability to groom young D-men.

They were never close of making the playoffs to be fair. They made a very late, strong push that made them advance a little bit up the standings.

  18. Sure he's got skill, but it's not like he is lighting it up winning games with another NHL team right now.

That's because Nashville got his rights. He had/has the potential to be a star in the NHL.

Meaning he was a horrible teammate and not willing to buy into the system.

You don`t win with players like that no matter how talented they are.

It shows Trotz has the balls to make tough decisions when players don`t buy into the culture of the team.

Seems they aren't winning without him either.

  19. Nope.

Yeah I'm sure Radulov came back to the NHL, just to play some hockey. Trotz decision of sitting him out 2 games didn't have any major influence in his decision of going back to the KHL after just 17 games. The way you respond, it just tells me that you're weak at making arguments.

What world is Hedman living in. Radulov and Kostitchen(?) were benched after a night of boozing it up

before a playoff game. Talk about a guy only there for the pay cheque. Radulov is a classic example of why I would never build a playoff team around a Russian other than Datsuyk or Larianov.

He benched him 2 games. 1 for going out, but he didn't have to do it the 2nd time. If you actually want to win, you shouldn't sit your best offensive player out, especially not because you don't want to "change a winning formula".

Forsberg, Arnott, and Kariya were past their prime when they arrived in Nashville.

You're wrong. Arnott and Kariya were great players in Nashville. Forsberg was also good, but he wasn't there for long.
