Anyone hear Bo’s interview on sportsnet radio? Said something like it’s good to see a guy like that that’s “almost nhl ready” haha. Just Bo’s opinion from practicing with him but still pretty cool.
  2. 2018 NHL Entry Draft

Quite the detailed description. Sounds like he’s seen every game Dobson’s ever played haha

I don’t understand this. They play tomorrow morning. When is the roster deadline?

Too late, already met with some Russians at trump tower to get some dirt on my boy Brady Tkachuk. The draft rig is mine haha

I really don’t see a trade down in the top 3 as very likely or easy to do. Say we have 3rd pick, the team at 4th or 5th knows you want a certain defenseman if you’re asking them to trade picks. I highly doubt you’d trade beyond the 5th pick as you might not get your guy. If both those teams seem to want an impact forward like Zadina or Tkachuk, they’re going to get one whether you trade with the other team or stay and take your Dman at 3. I don’t know, I just think all the trade down talk sounds crazy. As a YouTube scout, I think all the players in the top ten are good. It would be awesome to trade down and have any of them. The real scouts gotta have their eye on the prize in the top 10. If they believe Bouchard is the 3rd best player in the draft, they’ve got to go up and confidently call his name. They can’t risk losing their guy and settling for a Dman they feel is inferior just to add another 2nd round pick.

Dahlin Juolevi Tryamkin would sure be somethin eh. Just gotta find a big tough Canadian kid to round it out haha
  8. 2018 NHL Entry Draft

Imagine being a hockey team and just getting the living poop beat out of ya in your own zone by Tkachuk Virtanen and Bo for a minute and a half.. then over the boards comes Pettersson Dahlen and Boeser to go to town on the underside of that crossbar. If we’re lucky enough to draft Tkachuk, he’s gonna play for us and beat the crap out of his brother for the next decade haha.
  9. Jonathan Dahlén | C/LW

Could we have had a better year with our prospects? This is insane lol. Pettersson breaks records, Gaudette hobey Baker, Juolevi munching big playoff minutes, Demko named all star, Virtanens figuring out how to do what he was drafted to do, jasek comes over and pots 6 in 3.. now Dahlen goes beast mode and claws back from 3-1 to promote timra? Haha this is just wild. Without the ability to trade our top 2 forwards and top defenseman to start a rebuild, Benning has still managed to give us the best prospect pool we’ve ever had. If Jim continues to pull 2 or 3 guys out of every draft and add quality young guys like Dahlen and Leipsic via trade, we are going to be a top team with longevity. We won’t get stale trying to win with the same guys if we’re finding quality at this rate. This is is the kind of player you hope you end up with taking a young package for a player like hank. You hope one sticks, you hope you get a Dahlen. We couldn’t trade a sedin but looks like we still mighta pulled it off. Now we get to watch our heroes retire the right way and wait for the next high end Swede(s) and you can bet your ass they’re on their way. Talk about having your cake and eating it too haha. Well done, Jim.

Adding Tkachuk would be awesome in my opinion. I could see Brady giving Virtanen the confidence to also play a foot taller and a little meaner out there if they play together. It pushes the D pool rebuild back a bit but you’re adding a guy that might be the the biggest, toughest, meanest point producing forward in the nhl some day. This affords you to build a d core with more speed and skill and swing for the fences on the little guys. This kid is an impact player and would become a legend battling his division rival brother for us. 2 hard nosed brothers going head to head in a seven game series would be an unreal storyline and it would be destined to happen eventually. I’m all for this mean SOB, he can play on my team any day haha.

It still allows us to protect someone else. Maybe allows you to keep Leipsic in the end... but even if it is Sutter. He could still be a decent deadline deal in his contract year.

Totally. Expansion eligibility is priority number 1. As long as that game limit posted above is true I say burn that year off.
  13. Adam Gaudette | #88 | C

I completely agree. I was just responding to the point made of it being better for us if he doesn’t burn a year. I think it works in our favor if he’s the real deal. You could luck out and end up with a 30 goal scorer that only eats up 3rd line centre money against our cap. In the years when we’re realistically trying to win too. but yeah.. He said he’s loyal but you never really know. He’s also extremely proud of where he’s from. I don’t want to take any chances and leave time for dreams of signing back home to creep into his head.

Unless we land Dahlin and get fast tracked closer to contender this year. I kinda think it might be better in this case to burn a year off. Gives him 2 years to earn the next contract as opposed to 3. Who knows how good he really is but let’s say he is the real deal. That third year could be the difference in a 3 million dollar second contract or 5. Assuming Wanless is correct about expansion eligibility, I think it has the potential to help us more than anything.
