  1. Making playoffs is just the start. I think we know how well most of these players will do but I got my eye on 3 people to be specific. I hope Virtanen can make that leap and be a top 6 player, if not an above average 3rd liner. He has all the physical tools but struggles to stay consistent. Markstrom needs to show last year wasn’t a fluke season. Now that our defense is better we will figure out how good of a goalie he really is. I’m expecting big things from Travis Green. He has made some questionable decisions in the past but now that he has a playoff roster on paper, there is no excuses for him, and I think he can get us to the playoffs and do damage.
  2. Why would Boeser or anyone else hold out? It’s rare in the NHL. Once Marner signs the market will be set and the dominoes will fall.
  3. Trading for Lucic at the point doesn’t make much sense at all. I would of been down to get him if we hadn’t signed Ferland, but on this current team he wouldn’t be anything more than an overpaid, crash and bang 4th liner/enforcer.
  4. That seems like a steeeep price to move Eriksson. I hope JB got something up his sleeve.
  5. Well that came out wrong. I was a big fan of the Miller trade, I was just wondering if we could stack some draft capital to make up for it.
  6. With JB’s recent additions this offseason, I think most of us know that this team can be very competitive for the next few years. Our prospect pool is looking pretty good right now with Juolevi, Woo, Madden, Hoglander, Podkolzin, Keppen, Lind, Gadjovich, Lockwood, DiPietro, etc. That being said, the cupboard is never full and losing a 1st for Miller wasn’t ideal. I know we aren’t in the position to get that pick back but if we could get rid of some loose ends or prospects that might not fit, it was be wise for JB to stack up some draft capital for next year and keep this team rolling for a very long time. Thoughts?
  7. PP 1: Miller - Horvat - Petey Boeser - Hughes I like the idea of stacking the top unit. (Miller in front of the net, Horvat down low, Boeser/Petey on the half wall, and Hughes at the point) PP 2: Ferland - Gaudette - Baer/Pearson/Leivo/Goldy/Virtanen Myers - Edler
  8. On paper this year’s team will be better, no doubt in my mind. There was no legit secondary scoring behind the Sedins and Vrbata. Defense was absolutely terrible in the Calgary series. Even tho Calgary’s defense wasn’t that good either, it was the best playoff performance by the Sedins I’ve ever seen and it left a bitter taste in my mouth because we gave up multiple leads and couldn’t keep the puck out of our own net.
  9. Is Benn capable of playing in the top 4? I haven’t seen him play much but always had the impression he was a bottom pairing guy.
  10. Right now with our logjam of forwards Mac is an injury call-up/4th liner.
  11. I’m for once excited to see us play San Jose this year. Idk if there’s a team in the league that has trounced us more than they have for the last 5 years or so. Pacific division will be wide open this year and I think every team is beatable with our recent additions.
  12. Miller, Myers, and a full season of Quinn Hughes is HUGE. Expecting improvement out of Virtanen, Gaudette, MacEwan and hoping Juolevi can crack the roster when he’s healthy. Our depth will be way better this year and I know this team can make the playoffs but I try not to get my hopes up too much.
  13. I was never a fan of the Kassian trade to begin with. It was a shame he had addiction issues for a while there. Right now one of my fav power forwards in the league is Josh Anderson outta CBJ. He puts up points, hits like a truck and can scrap with the best of em. I was really happy we drafted Keppen I think he can be a beast for us in the future. I still got hope for Virtanen although it seems like his time might be running out to become a legit top 6 player. At times I feel like Green hasn’t given him a fair look to play in the top 6. Try him out at left wing, maybe get him in front of the net or on the left half wall on the 2nd unit power play. Consistency is still his biggest issue tho and he needs a Kesler-esque offseason(before he scored 40) where he works nonstop on his shot/deflections. It drives me crazy when he tries the 5 hole tuck on breakaways lol.
  14. Offensive: 1- Hughes 2- Myers 3- Edler 4- Benn 5- Stetcher 6- Tanev Defensive: 1- Tanev 2- Stetcher 3- Edler 4- Myers 5- Benn 6- Hughes I haven’t seen Benn play enough to give an accurate evaluation. Hughes I only put last because of his inexperience but he was pretty good defensively in the small sample size we saw.
  15. Nice to see Carson Focht on the list too.
  16. Can’t wait to see what Gaudette brings this year. I think he can play anywhere in the bottom 6.
  17. There are no holes in his game but he doesn’t excel at anything either. Skating is average and isn’t that physical for a guy his size. On a contending team he is not a top 6 player and we’ve yet to see if he can carve a role in the bottom 6. Hopefully he can add some offense to our bottom 6 but he will have to adjust to that role. Right now he’s no more than a 4th liner/fill-in player when we get injuries.
  18. I like having him on a 1 year deal. Gives him all the motivation to play better. He was contributing offense pretty well for the first half of the season considering he was playing with Beagle and then came along Eriksson, who completely sucked the life out of that line. Assuming he makes the roster, I would like to see MacEwan play on his line to add some size.
  19. Don’t like the idea of putting our 3 best bottom 6 defenders on the 3rd line together. Need some more offense from there in today’s NHL.
  20. First Granny is gone and now Pouliot?Hopefully Hutton is gone next and the Canucks have had an amazing offseason! Addition by subtraction baby.
  21. Considering his previous track record, we’ve done pretty damn well so far...
  22. Consider this, the only reason JB has a job right now is because he can draft. Get rid of all those 1st rounders to grossly overpay for 1 player on our team (that is already tight against the cap) is insane. Let’s worry about locking up Boeser and making sure we have enough to pay Petey and Hughes when the time comes.
  23. Is it just me or is there a big misconception that Luke Schenn is a good fighter? He can definitely hit tho.
  24. Jordie can play both sides and we needed more help on the left side anyways. We got Myers, Tanev, Stetcher, and Biega on the right side which may have swayed Schenn’s decision on playing time/oppurtunity. Also replaced Schenn’s size/hitting with Myers. Just my guess.
  25. Not a huge fan of rushing defensemen. Coming off an injury and playing a 3/4 or full season with Utica will help him and I heard rumours that he struggled defensively at times. Don’t get me wrong , the spot is there for him to take if he earns it but I can’t see the coaching staff rolling with 2 rookies full-time this year. Of course if one of Edler or Hughes ends up getting injured, i’d love to see him in there. Not trusting Benn, Fantanburg, Sautner, Brisebois, etc. in that top 4.
