  1. Markstrom is one of our few assets right now. We don’t have young guys or draft picks that are expendable and most of the guys we have to trade are old and/or injury-prone. Time to sell high on Marky before his value goes down.
  2. The asking price might be too high but assuming he really wants out and we could get him at a lower price it would be foolish of JB not to inquire. He is a perfect fit on a line with Petey/Boeser. Maybe start with Virtanen and Gaudette and throw in some spare parts/picks like Goldy/Baer/Eriksson/Tanev?
  3. I’d rather have Demko over Marky going forward.
  4. I hope so I bet my buddy 200 bucks that the Canucks would win a cup before Montreal.
  5. Idk how you think Baer is physical, he rarely throws hits and doesn’t hit to hurt. In fact he is always on the receiving end of them(albeit dirty ones) and often ends up injured. Some games he looks good on the forecheck and others he gets knocked off the puck too easily. He just can’t be relied on anymore, right now the only thing he has going for him is that his value is too low to trade and he has good chemistry with Bo.
  6. It’s crazy how many people worship every little thing JB does and thinks he can do no wrong. Fact is he has never been dedicated to a full rebuild. He hangs on to veterans too long until their value is diminished and he doesn’t trade for picks. It’s time to get rid of the dead weight and get draft picks. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a really good drafter but he is not perfect.
  7. Have to disagree about Pettersson. He may go to the dirty areas and play fearless but he by no means hits with purpose or plays fiesty.
  8. The stats don’t tell the whole story when you compare Loui to those guys who brought more intagibles. He was brought here to bring offense and failed. His biggest issue is effort and it’s very rare when you actually see him skate with speed, just like Goldy. Idc if he’s good defensively, there are a ton of guys in the NHL who can do that for a fraction of the price. You are not winning in the playoffs with guys like that. And just because other teams signed FA’s to similar deals does not excuse signing a player of his age to that term. It’s not entirely JB’s fault but playoff calibre teams hit on those signings.
  9. Hot goaltending, good defense, and rolling 4 lines is a given. Some people think the NHL is moving towards pure speed and skill but that is far from it. Almost every team right now in the playoffs is balanced with speed/skill/toughness throughout their fwd lines and defense. Hughes, Pettersson, and Boeser will have targets on their backs and we need guys who will protect them. Tom Wilson, Josh Anderson, Evander Kane, etc. type players who can play top 6, hit hard and chuck the mitts when the whistles blown. Right now our team is too soft to even make it a reg season without key injuries, IMO it isn’t a fluke that this happening year after year there needs to be a culture change. Play with a pack mentality and Start drafting/developing some players who are strong on the puck, hit to hurt, and don’t stand there when Petey or Boeser are on the wrong end of dirty hits.
  10. This doesn’t make too much sense unless maybe Edler and Hutton are gone. Hughes and potentially Juolevi will be providing some more offense to the backend but I wouldn’t mind taking Gardiner on a 1-2 year deal. Anything more than that seems like a mistake.
  11. I don’t think JV was forcefed minutes at all. He’s primarily deployed on the 3rd line and he would occasionally take shifts with Bo. Goldy had tons of oppurtunities playing with Bo, Boeser, and Petey but ultimately what it comes down to is effort and there is no urgency/hustle to his game. JV never really got those oppurtunities as often despite the fact the Green juggles his lines a lot(in and between games). Then there’s Eriksson who is almost identical to Goldy(effort wise) but gets a free pass because he can play in his own end.
  12. Still the 2011 SCF final, Marchand particularly. Ever since that moment I’ve wanted this team to be tougher and meaner. Can’t let history repeat itself when Pettersson and Boeser get targeted in the playoffs.
  13. We should be creating a team that can play both styles and adjust against different teams. Tired of the injury and refs excuse. Winners focus on winning and losers focus on losing.
  14. A lot of positives to take in this year but with that being said can we stop with the injury excuse? They’re part of the game and we’ve been incredibly unlucky but I’m tired of hearing the same “what if we were healthy” line time and time again. I say this a lot but the team is way too soft and If we can barely escape the regular season without big injuries we’re in for trouble when the playoffs roll around.
  15. I think it all depends how good our powerplay is this year. If he plays on the top unit with the Sedins and Del Zotto can prove to be a PP QB I don't think it's far-fetched to see 20 or 25+
  16. Isn't Dave Tippet supposed to become a free-agent this summer or something? If so I would love to have him here, he seems like a guy who can get the most out of his players and doesn't play favorites.
  17. Power play minutes, penalty killing minutes, double shifting.
  18. And why should he be considered a valid source then?
  19. I didn't want him anyways. From what I've heard he's not that good defensively which won't work alongside Edler and he's not physical enough for our bottom pairing. He supposedly wanted ice-time and he just wasn't gonna get it here from my perspective.
  20. Regular season play him with the Sedins no doubt. But in the playoffs play him with Kesler. We need to find that fast, gritty 2nd liner who can play with Kesler is the regular season and then move up with the Sedins in the playoffs.
  21. And Burrows scores the goal to advance us to the second round.....
