I called a 2006 rematch for the cup months and months ago, I'm glad to see that it's still a possibility. After the latest blowout, I heard a guy on the radio (not sports radio, just regular morning show) say, "where the hell did Carolina come from?" All I could think was that they've been good for years... I think Rod wins his first cup as coach this year, if I had to pick. A Hurricanes / Panthers series feels inevitable at this point, and should be a great one.

While I completely agree with you and hope management tries to bring him back, I'm thinking Toronto might try to keep him harder than people might think. Sounds like he's ecstatic to be there, and if all goes well with him and the Leafs through the playoffs I can definitely see them try to work out a new deal for him: https://www.thestar.com/sports/leafs/2023/03/16/luke-schenns-maple-leafs-homecoming-was-a-long-time-coming-this-is-a-dream-come-true.html Excluding Luke himself, the Leafs have 6 forward and 2 other defensemen contracts expiring in the offseason (plus ROR on LTIR). I say Fantilli. Shorter time frame getting him into the NHL and is such the sort of player we need. I think any team would be stupid not to take him at 2OA.
