Burns was a RW when drafted though. It's quite a bit different from center. Besides - Jacques Lemaire thought it's be interesting to see what Brent could do as a d-man. After seeing a couple brilliant plays from the blue line he decided to give it a whirl and it turned out to be a very natural conversion for him. Not every body can do that. 

Kovalchuk could bail and his cap hit would stay on the books - it's an age 35 contract.  He also only plays offence and Green demands a 200ft game.  

I'd rather gamble on Lucic, and least when he's motivated he can play a physical game. 

Great idea! Even if Kovy isn't an upgrade on the ice, at least his contract ends when it needs to (when Pettersson & Hughes need extensions).

I don't know if Kovalchuk would go for it though. I think part of the draw was living in LA.

Goalies aren't in high demand. If someone offers you a 1st round pick then yes consider it.

In the context of the Seattle expansion draft though, if Demko proves himself as a viable option after they platoon them next year, then I'd be open to it.  Agreed with above, the value of the return has to be there.

Yeah. And there's a chance this is going to be another Pettersson situation where not picking (very) high helps us. But it still kinda hurts to see the team gain ground on its peers only after the playoffs became too far away.

Yeah I can see that for sure and share the feelings somewhat. That said, unless we explode into a playoff team out of nowhere, which isn't terribly likely, there's probably got to be a few years of floundering just outside of the playoffs before we're finally good.

Agreed... I know plenty of people who have been misdiagnosed and put on meds that have made them feel even worse.

The worst situation I can recall is when someone was telling the truth about a particular situation, but was immediately labeled as psychotic or delusional. Turns out they were right and the medicine they were put on messed them up..
