I have always enjoyed coming here to read and learn what is happening with the Canucks. My thanks to all the posters here.

You have two things in play here. A journalist trying to get under Louis skin and cultural differences between a swede and canadian.
Considering I'm in an international marriage (different culture and language), I can understand what you say.
Whether he is traded or not, let the chips fall where they may.

Yip. I gotta admit though that this is the one thread I keep checking in on the most, lol.
Same here.

I'm just thankful we finally have a group that can draft.
We had a good team for awhile (Naslund, Linden, Sedins, etc.).
Before that the Canucks had lousy teams with just as bad drafting. IMO
This is the first time I am excited over our prospects.
Benning is not perfect, but the drafting team he assembled is the best I think the Canucks ever had.
The pros outweigh the cons

JB mentioned part of the TJ Miller trade, and us giving up that first in 2020 or 2021, was us getting Hoglander in round two this draft. Benning said getting Hoglander was like getting another first round pick this draft.
Great to hear! Thanks Alf!

I'm not suggesting he's a game breaker whatsoever. But rather he's going to do the things our gamebreakers need to be even better. ie Burrows with the twins. The twins were great players, and would have been regardless, but even they credit Burr for being the guy who allowed them to take the next step.
I also don't think JB did this out of desperation, his job is to win. His job is to get these kids the support they need to start getting playoff tested. You don't win a cup by sucking every year for a decade and hoping you get a first rounder after first rounder to get you in and win by the time you get it. Firstly, your players you got early, Horvat etc are beaten down, frustrated, probably want out (aka edmonton), you know how to lose not win, etc.
This team is 1 right D away from the playoffs and being a thorn in the side of anyone they play. Can they win cup with this roster NOW. I doubt it. But give their core 3 year of playoff experience, an older Petey, Boeser, Bo, JV, Hughes, OJ, Tryamkin, etc and you know what, maybe. But you need to learn how to win in the playoffs by being IN the playoffs guy, not by collecting first rounders like they are hockey cards.
Exactly my thoughts.
Miller was a first round pick, exactly what we need.
First round pick for a future first round pick.
Don't understand the uproar.
The rest of the trade is for "knowing" what we get under a good contract.

Miller is ethically intense.. that type of game can become infectious in a room and on the ice.
This is a bold move by Benning.. the right one for an injection of character above everything else this player brings.
Agreed. With luck he'll be a good influence on Virtanen

So, where do we discuss the Canuck trade again?

I think we should keep all our picks until Bo shows up to the ice with a cane, and wearing depends.
Was so easy with other managers to find a line mate for the Sedins through the draft.
Sucks to lose a first rounder. Not saying I'm thrilled about that. But if he plays on Peteys wing, then it's worth the gamble. IMO

Considering most of the Sedin time here was spent without a first line winger.... (that is a waste)
I'm glad Petey is not going to have the same situation.
Sucks to lose a 1 st rounder, but overall I think it's for the best.

You make some good points. Yes, we are WAY BEHIND teams (like the Leafs) when it comes to our next core. With that I agree. But this creates the larger discussion on the philosophy of retool vs. Rebuild.
What if we had won the lottery and leafs lost last year? Would we still be WAY BEHIND? Is our defense and goaltending WAY BEHIND? How many years have the Canucks made playoffs compared to the leafs? Does that not affect draft position? What prospects did Canucks have 2 or 3 years ago?

I read many times it takes bigger guys more time to get going. Its pre-season, so I'm not worried.
