  1. Congratulations to Mike Vanderhoek and the New Jersey Devils for earning a trip to the Conference Finals after a hard fought series. Though the season didn't end the way I had hoped I think that it was a big step forward for the squad and I am hoping we can continue to build on it. Thank you to all the league executives and General Managers who actively make this league the best fantasy league in the world. Good luck to all the remaining teams and feel free to message me regarding trades as we are officially in offseason mode. Thank you.
  2. looks like holtby might get a shutout...
  3. @theminister miikka salomaki is earning fantasy points twice right now for the Devils on pickup.
  4. Report: Despres (head) is no longer listed on injured reserve, per the NHL's official media site. While there's no guarantee that Despres will be ready to go when the Caps open the second round of the playoffs against the Devils, his removal from the ranks of the IR seems to suggest that he could be ready for Game 1. The 25-year-old has not suited up since being knocked out of action during the first game of the season, so even if he is able to go soon, there's a chance he'll be dealing with some rust as he gets readjusted.
  5. Congratulations to ActionJax and the Pittsburgh Penguins organization for a very well fought series right down to they wire. With significantly less players you managed to keep the series extremely tight right into the last overtime. Good luck Mike in round two. Washington Capitals Round 2 Roster: Chris Kreider - Kyle Turris - Jakob Silfverberg Andrew Cogliano - Nate Thompson - Zack Kassian Ryan Dzingel - Carter Rowney - Brett Connolly Shane Gersich - Nathan Walker - Jean-Sebastien Dea Chris Wideman - Ryan Ellis Simon Despres - Christian Djoos Tim Erixon - Andreas Englund Darren Dietz Matt Murray
  6. nvm
  7. Talbot absolutely can not get a shutout this game....
  8. Thank you for voting me GM of the year guys! Huge honour. Also very proud to win our first presidents trophy! Washington Capitals Playoff Roster: Chris kreider - kyle Turris- Jakob silfverberg Andrew Cogliano- William Nylander- Richard panik Ryan dzingel - Erik Haula- zack kassian Melker karlsson - nate Thompson- Brett Connolly Carter rowney Daniel O'Regan Paul Martin- Ryan Ellis Trevor van riemsdyk- Chris Wideman Dylan DeMelo- Christian folin Joakim ryan Matt murray Steve Michalek
  9. ACTIVATION: the capitals activate Christian Folin and place him on the nhl roster. Assignment: the capitals assign dylan DeMelo to the ahl
  10. Hart: Henrik Zetterberg: Last season goal scoring was down in Washington and the team lacked depth at centre. Zetterberg has come in via trade and taken leadership of a group that has needed to take the next step. In Detroit this season, Zetterberg currently has 20 more points than second on his team and leads the team in plus-minus. He is actually 13 +'s higher than 3rd place on his roster and leads all forwards in playing time. Zetterberg has also led the current 1st place Capitals in scoring in the CDCGML and has brough great leadership to his line mates Evander Kane and William Nylander; a line that was surrounded by plenty of question marks coming into the season and has been the teams top line since assembled. Norris: Ryan Ellis: Actually led Washington in playing time due to his ability to kill penalties better than any other dman on the team. Playing in a more shutdown role against other teams top skaters alongside Paul Martin, Ellis has also led all Capitals defensemen with 15 goals, 1st in TOI at 23:59, 1st in +/- at +17, and 3rd in points with 37. Vezina: Matt Murray: The rookie posted a 2.37 GAA and a 0.924 S% with 31 wins in only 45 games started. For comparison sake, 32 year old Canadian olympian and Stanley Cup champion Marc-Andre Fleury posted a 2.99 GAA and an 0.911 S% playing in the same fast pace system. Murray also currently leads the Washington Capitals with 390 fantasy points. Calder: Matt Murray Selke: Henrik Zetterberg Lady Byng: Henrik Zetterberg: I truly think Zetterberg is a worthy candidate of his first Lady Byng trophy. The captain of Detroit has come out after a season where his play saw regression and rebounded with one of the better seasons of his entire career without much talent around him. He led by example and never gave up on hard work and perseverance even without as much talent around him. Leading his team in +/- and TOI by wide margins while only receiving 22 minutes in penalties in my opinion makes him worthy of this award.
  11. @theminister Melker Karlsson still isn't on my pickup roster. I traded for him and submitted him into my lineup at the trade deadline. No rush or anything but just a heads up. Thanks in advance
  12. @theminister Hey man, weirdest thing... Trevor vanRiemsdyk has been earning points on pickup as if he is a forward since I acquired him. Only getting 3 fantasy points for every goal and 3 fantasy points for every assist.
  13. @theminister Melker Karlsson is missing on pickup. Also thanks for all the hard work man.
  14. Caps top line center Kyle Turris has been playing with a broken finger the past couple weeks and is getting a few games off in order to recover and get closer to full health. Capitals coach stated "It's tough, he wants to play. We are pushing for our first Presidents Trophy and that is a big deal. Kyle is a huge part of that and wants to be on the ice but he also realizes that we need him as healthy as possible for the playoffs. We trust our other players and are actually excited to mix it up a little bit. Give some guys more minutes and some guys some reps in some different positions. It's good to give some guys practice in different spots so we have different options in different situations." Capitals current lineup: Evander Kane - Henrik Zetterberg - William Nylander Chris Kreider - Andrew Cogliano - Jakob Silfverberg Richard Panik - Ryan Dzingel - Melker Karlsson Brett Connolly - Erik Haula - Zack Kassian Nate Thompson Kyle Turris Keith Yandle - John Klingberg Paul Martin - Ryan Ellis Trevor vanRiemsdyk - Chris Wideman Dylan DeMelo Matt Murray Kari Lehtonen One notable change to the lineup is veteran Andrew Cogliano is moving up to the top 6 to center Kreider and Silfverberg. "Andrew is a big time leader for us and has been here for a while. We love him for his versatility. He brings so much speed and makes plays all over the ice for us in all situations. Getting him up there with with those guys will definitely change the look of that line and the pace that they play at but we know it will still be a very effective unit." The third line also looks a lot different with rookie Ryan Dzingel moving from wing to center and newly acquired Melker Karlsson joining Dzingel and the red hot Panik on the wing. "Zinger is a competitor and has been a huge reason why we have had so much success this season. He works hard and like Cogliano is extremely fast. One this often over looked about Zinger is that he also has a great set of hands. He's got lots of skill and can make some pretty high level plays with the puck and can also move the puck around to the other guys pretty quickly. He was a really good two-way center back during his time at Ohio State and I know he's excited about this opportunity. It's good to get the kid this experience to work on his versatility. We would love for him to become a piece like Cogliano in that regard. He has the natural skill-set for it. Karlsson already has a goal and an assist in his first few games with the Capitals and will now be getting the opportunity to play with some players that have been producing a lot of offense this season. "One thing you quickly realize about Melker is that he is an absolute puck hound. He's really fast and tenacious out there and is always working hard. Forces lots of turnovers and mistakes. He's really going to fit our system well and were really happy to have him join us. When you work as hard as him it's really easy to fit in. We have a really competitive group of guys all battling for ice time but they see Melker and how hard he is working and it rubs off on the whole group. He's earned an immediate respect from our guys and I think that type of work ethic is going to serve him well for a long time in this league. The Capitals are going to look much different without Turris in the lineup and though they are eager to get him back they are also excited to watch a few other guys earn some more minutes and prove themselves.
