  1. Washington Capitals Front Office Budget: Development - $0 Medical - $0 Player Relations - $20 million Minors Budget - $35 million
  2. The Washington Capitals are very pleased with our recent signings and will continue to fill out the rest of our roster as we move closer to training camp. "We have high expectations of this group. I don't know if we are quite there yet but we feel like we are in a good spot; especially our forward group".The most noteworthy signings so far this offseason have been the signings of forward Josh Archibald and goaltender Anton Forsberg. "I think these guys will fit in well. both have plenty of NHL experience and I think will battle the other guys at their positions. They'll only make us stronger." The defence still has some question marks surrounding it. Mostly connected to captain Ryan Ellis' injury and the hole that leaves in the lineup. "We need to be careful. We're in a funny spot. The expectation is for us to win now so we can't enter the season without being properly equipped defensively. However, if Ellis is healthy we need to ensure that we have the cap and lineup flexibility to get him in there immediately. He has earned that and we know that is the best case scenario." Here is a look at the Washington Capitals and Dover Dobermans projected depth chart: Patrik Laine - Mark Scheifele - Andrew Copp Carter Verhaeghe - Evgeny Kuznetsov - William Nylander Alex Killorn - Frederick Gaudreau - Mathieu Joseph Pierre Engvall - Nic Dowd - Zack Kassian Ryan Lomberg / Josh Archibald Devon Toews - John Klingberg Brian Dumoulin - Justin Holl ______________ - Radko Gudas Mark Friedman / Nick Blankenburg Anton Forsberg Karel Vejmelka LTIR: Ryan Ellis, Anton Khudobin ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dylan Sikura - Arttu Ruotsalainen - Parker Kelly Alex Limoges - Tanner Laczynski - Rafael Harvey-Pinard Garrett Pilon - Pontus Holmberg - Hunter Drew Buddy Robinson - Simon Ryfors - Mathieu Olivier Kristian Vesalainen Ryan Shea - Chase Priskie Sami Niku - Tyler Tucker Isaak Phillips - Tim Berni Kim Nousiainen Mikhail Berdin Oskari Salminen * Recent Signings Bolded Updated @theminister
  3. Termination: The Washington Capitals would like to terminate the contract of Andreas Wingerli who recently signed in Sweden. https://www.skellefteaaik.se/article/boq0al4fj-5n5bi1/valkommen-hem-andreas-wingerli
  4. The Washington Capitals are very proud to extend Carter Verhaeghe for five more seasons. "Carter is another example of our top notch development staff and we have the utmost appreciation for the work he puts in and the fact that he was willing to negotiate a deal to stay for the prime of his NHL career. He is an integral part of our group and as he continues to develop we truly feel we will be able to utilize his versatility." The Caps will enter free agency looking to rebound after another first round exit. The question is how long will their championship window stay open? "We feel good with where our organization is at right now. We don't see why this year can't be our year".
  5. Termination: The Washington Capitals would like to terminate the contract of Joshua Ho-Sang who signed in the KHL. https://nhlrumors.com/nhl-news-ho-sang-to-the-khl-and-the-islanders-sign-seven/2022/07/10/

  9. Report: Question marks still surround Washington Capitals defenseman Ryan Ellis, and his status entering the 2022-23 season. Ellis recently signed a five-year, $30 million extension to remain with the team until the year 2027. "He's such an important piece for us on the ice, in the locker room and as a someone that has just played for this team for so long. He's part of the history" stated head coach Jamie Langenbrunner. Ellis has played his entire career for only the Capitals and clearly is hoping to stay there for the rest of his career. The questions surrounding him though are when will he be ready to play? "We're going to let him take his time. We have no doubt about his commitment to this organization and we just want to see him come back at full health. Right now we are unsure about his status for the 2022-23 season but we are going to stay patient and make sure that we give him the opportunity to be the best version of himself for the duration of his contract extension. We wanted to give him the security so he can breathe easy and focus on getting his body right." After trading RFA Travis Dermott to the LA Kings the Caps have some uncertainty on the blue line heading into Free Agency. "We'll have to monitor the situation closely. We don't want to offer money that we don't have if Ryan is ready to go but we also need to make sure we have someone ready to log those minutes if he isn't ready to play" After another strong regular season the Caps fell short in the first round of the playoffs, this time to the Columbus Blue Jackets. "Obviously, it's frustrating, no doubt" stated centre Mark Scheifele. "We just gotta get our bodies ready and come out next year even more motivated"
  10. We thank Arby for negotiations and wish Philipp Grubauer the best in LA. Grubauer has a long history of being a very strong goalie in the NHL but after last season we felt we didn't have the cap space to keep him in hopes of a resurgence this year. We wish him the best moving forward. Anton Khudobin has proven to be a capable goalie himself when healthy. He is currently in the middle of rehabbing from surgery and our staff will do everything they can to aid him back to full health. He is going to start the season on the IR and we will be patient with him in hopes that he can make a full recovery. If at some point he feels comfortable getting back on the ice and playing games again we look forward to having him in the mix to compete his way back on to the NHL roster. We are hoping he does get to such a point because his presence would only give our organization more strength. With that being said Assignment: The Washington Capitals assign Anton Khudobin to the AHL where we will hold his contract until he is IR eligible.
  11. Congratulations @lethunder on a well deserved CDCGML championship.
  12. The Washington Capitals opt to send qualifying offers to all of our RFA's: Carter Verhaeghe Garrett Pilon Chase Priskie Mark Friedman @Mike Vanderhoek
  13. @theminister This extension hasn't been updated on my cap table sheet. I don't know whether that is included in the work you have updated or not yet but either way thanks for all the hard work man!
  14. Congratulations to @Mike Vanderhoek for once again advancing to the second round of the playoffs. It was a tough series where our group really did perform admirably. The trade block of Sergei Bobrovsky ended up being the difference in this series which is a frustrating blow to the organization but there were a lot of scenarios where we still could have advanced. It seems like year after year that I am left saying things just didn't add up. We have some core players that we refused to trade to make a run. That is a position that we do not want to compromise moving forward. Our loyalty we show to our top players is an integral part of the DNA of the Washington Capitals. Outside of trading those key pieces we really don't see where a more aggressive deadline approach would have made the difference this season. None of the players that we were negotiating trades for at the deadline would have fit into our lineup and made up the 35 fantasy point difference it would have taken to beat New Jersey this season. Every season where we have an early playoff exit does sting a little bit more but we will continue to build our organization the same way we have in the past and believe that we are set up to comeback even stronger next season.

  17. 18. You guys both have really good teams with a huge edge in the goaltending department. Will take a lot to go my way in order to get through the Eastern gauntlet this year.
  19. In my opinion neither Vanacek or Swayman had real negotiating power nor are either of them clear cut starters. I also think teams should be rewarded for finding players before they earn bigger roles and even if players demand trades I think only players that are not under contract or incredibly unique circumstances should lead to a player refusing to play. I personally think it wouldn't have been fair to single out Mike or Rush to enforce any rules on them pre deadline. I just can't imagine why a veteran player like Bobrovsky would waive his NTC to play for the @Rush17 circus in Columbus when they could have played for Washington but that is a completely different topic and obviously I have a bias opinion.
  20. I genuinely wasn't trying to stir the pot with my comments. All I am saying is that I think Bobrovsky, Vanacek, Andersen, and Swayman are all likely to start for their teams in round one of the playoffs in my opinion, so I felt that it might not be in my best interest to go all in this season.
  21. It was the most quiet Trade Deadline in years for the Washington Capitals but we are not disappointed. We looked into a few different possibilities but decided that compromising our future at this point was unwise and that we would rather see how our current group performs while continuing to build for the future. Earlier in the season an NTC nixed a trade to bring in Sergei Bobrovsky who ended up going to CBJ. With Rush and Mike each likely having two starters in the playoffs this season we decided that saving our assets and taking a season to let our system breathe after going all in for so many consecutive seasons would be a good option for our franchise. We did lock up Evgeny Kuznetsov to a 5 year contract extension which we are extremely excited about and we believe that keeping our current group together will give us plenty of opportunities to buy more heavily over the next few seasons. We also do think we have a strong roster that could surprise if all does go right in the first round of the playoffs. Capitals Post Trade Deadline Lineup: Patrik Laine - Mark Scheifele - William Nylander Alex Killorn - Evgeny Kuznetsov - Carter Verhaeghe Andrew Copp - Frederick Gaudreau - Mathieu Joseph Ryan Lomberg - Pierre Engvall - Wayne Simmonds Devon Toews - John Klingberg Brian Dumoulin - Justin Holl Travis Dermott - Radko Gudas Philip Grubauer Karel Vejmelka Extras: Nic Dowd (inj), Zack Kassian, Andrej Sekera Injured Reserve: Ryan Ellis, Kris Russell Dover Dobermans Lineup: Dylan Sikura - Arttu Ruotsalainen - Garrett Pilon Josh Ho-Sang - Tanner Laczynski - Alex Limoges Simon Ryfors - Otto Somppi - Kristian Vesalainen Hunter Drew - Andreas Wingerli - Buddy Robinson Sami Niku - Mark Friedman Ryan Shea - Chase Priskie Tim Berni - Tyler Tucker Mikhail Berdin Josef Korenar Extras: Pontus Holmberg, Mathieu Olivier, Kim Nousiainen
  22. Travis Dermott available for best offer. Open to playoff pieces or futures
  23. Assignment: Caps assign Kristian Vesalainen to the AHL Activation: Caps activate Andrej Sekera and Zack Kassian. Lineup: Laine - Scheifele - Nylander Verhaeghe - Kuznetsov - Killorn Copp - Gaudreau - Engvall Joseph - Dowd - Kassian Lomberg - Simmonds Toews - Klingberg Dumoulin - Holl Dermott - Gudas Sekera Grubauer Vejmelka
