[Report] Canucks name Quinn Hughes as captain
Sanj replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
When Quinn took to the mic last year at the end of the season, it was pretty much sealed I think at that point. Great choice! -
Canucks Management "NO-SHOW's" at STH/Memebers only meeting.
Sanj replied to RU SERIOUS's topic in Canucks Talk
Support, like trust, is a two-way street. We can only show so much support as fans without getting the on-ice support of what the team is producing. Ultimately, that support fades away when the team displays a lack of effort or commitment to the game and similarly the support from management that acknowledges what is happening. I am not saying its all the players, but it is clearly evident that there is something happening so no matter how much support we show them, at some point the team needs to step it up and say, we need to also do it for the fans who are ultimately paying a part of their salary. Nonetheless I will end our debate here, because we can agree to disagree. You seem to take the extreme path in all of your replies to make a point: "beat someone up to make them tougher". -

I think you are missing the point here. Unconditional support is still happening as we are still paying for tickets and going to the games. What people are trying to get is some accountability. Why is it that criticism is always looked at as toxic by some. We as a group want our team to do better and continue to support the team but it is up to management to be held accountable and at least show face. If I do poorly at my job, I am sure I will hear about it, from both my management and my clients as is their right. The same applies here. However, right now you've taken a topic about management not showing up to not showing support to players which is a whole different context to what this thread is about. -

To be fair, those "whiny bitching fans" are the reason they have jobs in the first place. Some of those STH have been here for decades. I think it's fair that they be held accountable to many of the fans who have shelled out thousands of dollars. I could understand if it was a bad year after many good years, but its been a long time since we have iced a team with any consistency. I don't post often and I have been a member of the board for quite some time, and even I am starting to get absolutely frustrated to the point where I find myself wanting to vent on the forums more and more (only cause my wife doesn't care for hockey). -

You know, a part of me (unless some very late registered trade comes in) wonders if people just don't want to play here or trade with us. They know the market is desperate for good players, they know we need to make changes and are trying to play hardball. Knowing we won't give up a Hughes or maybe just getting lowball offers, they are content to let us sit be. Or maybe people just don't want to play in Vancouver and JR/PA are facing a challenge we aren't aware of. Whatever it is, I will patiently wait and hope one day we win a cup before I die....

I think this is another common misconception. The idea of an mRNA vaccine has been around for quite some time and has been researched for well over a decade. It's the ability to use that to develop the spike proteins needed for immunity. Yes its target application is new, but the technology is not and is fairly well understood hence the speed at which we were able to develop this. Furthermore, when the worlds superpowers collectively come together to fund such extensive research and with a very LARGE sample set to work with, it makes it very easy to develop something quickly. People also make the argument that we don't know the long-term affects etc. However, in most cases (and I don't want to misquote a percentage, I believe it was high 90s), long-term effects, are usually seen within the first 10 days to 3 months. Now if someone is a conspiracy theorist, yes there is always going to be the unknown possibility that all the testing was forged and results forged, and paid to hide any potential side effects, but....Aliens? Any who, my two thoughts, not a scientist, but my wife is a physician and she does talk a lot about this as she was on the COVID wards.

Sanj replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
Ya I went to a couple of games this year, albeit I do feel like people are desperately giving tickets away....I got my tickets in a pretty good spot (close to center) and upper bowl for $15... -
I think your assumptions are correct good sir.

Pretty sure this is the Elon Musk internet satellite thing. -

I will speak from the Engineering side of things. Realistically, we typically average around 60K/year for starting salaries in Vancouver. Victoria is much less at around 50-55K/Year. It also depends on where you work and what size of company you are getting yourself into. Getting 100K/year after 3 years may not be exactly achievable by everyone, but if you are smart and work your ass off, anything is possible. Good luck in your search for a job, but to be expecting a big salary fresh out of school, set your expectations low!

Chinese-only sign reignites language debate in Richmond, B.C.
Sanj replied to DonLever's topic in Off-Topic General
Ya well....I mean go to Surrey, how many Punjabi/Hindi only signs do you see there. This is just silly. Most people hate advertisements as it is...now they are complaining cause the advertisements they hate aren't in English. -
Not necessarily true. I can attest to that. I have lost 100 lbs. Over the last 2 years and oh boy I can tell you I ate bread, rice and potatoes. Its more of not being in excess of bread or starchy carbs. Everything in moderation is fine. Making sure you are monitoring your caloric intake is essential in weight loss. Not too little, not too much.

I have a friend who works for EA and has used both consoles. He wont tell me as he has signed an NDA but he said there is definitely one very distinct winner this generation.
