  1. City of Lights by Justin Cronin. Third part of a three part novel series. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Passage_(novel_series)
  2. As long as Santo doesn't want too much money I think it's a no-brainer that he's re-signed. I wouldn't give him a long term deal, maybe 2-3 years. If there are plans to trade Kesler now or in the short term that only reinforces the need to re-sign Santorelli.
  3. I'll give you Versteeg for him.
  4. Carter may have been offside and his goal in the first period may have been a high stick. It doesn't really matter, our boys had more than enough chances to put the Kings away but couldn't do it. It's our own fault for being in the position of a blown call meaning so much. This will be an interesting off-season for Chicago. The #1 priority should be re-signing Smith, that kid is a warrior.
  5. Hats off to LA, they played a stellar game and deserve to be moving on. We had our chances to win this series but couldn't do it.
  6. Crawford can be better, but it's not his fault we're down 3-1. The entire team (except for Hossa and Saad) seem to have disappeared.
  7. I agree, Crawford is not to blame. We're getting killed on special teams, just look at the PK - 58%, that's certainly not Crow's fault. The Blackhawks have stunk on face-offs and in general the Kings are just playing with more energy. Before we start blaming Crawford we should like at Kane, Sharp, Keith, Seabrook and a few others. There have been some major disappointments throughout the line-up in this series.
  8. Give the Kings credit, they are playing some fantastic hockey. Since being down 0-3 to the Kings they've been the most impressive team in the playoffs. They deserve to be up 3-1 right now.
  9. If they can be moved Benning should deal Kesler and Edler. They're both high quality players, but the team needs a shuffle and these two are the most tradable. I wouldn't deal these guys just for the sake of making a deal, only trade the, if the deal makes sense in the long term.
  10. It was a combination of both. There's no doubt that our boys soiled the sheets in the third period. But LA also stepped up and made us pay for it.
  11. I agree...and I can see this series going either way.
  12. Great move by Linden and the Canucks. I think Benning will have a lot of success in rebuilding the Canucks through the draft.
  13. I find the blind Chicago, Boston, or LA hate quite funny. No matter what these teams do they are evil and their stars should be banned for life (slight exaggeration on my part). You don't have to like every player on these team, but it's hard to argue against the success they've had.
  14. You think Seabrook is evil? It was a bad hit but his intention was not to seriously injure Backes. Can you elaborate on the cheap shots Keith got away with in the Blues series.
  15. It's easy for Torts to spend other people's money like that. Burrows had an off year but so did the rest of the team, why single him out? If he's healthy Burrows will be much better next year.
  16. Keith's contract is an absolute steal if a a deal. It's a great cap hit for a long time. I expect he'll be very productive for most, if not all, of the contract.
  17. I would love to see Kane and Toews stay for $8 - $9 million, equivalent to Perry and Getzlaf money. However it's hard to argue that anyone else should be paid more than 19 and 88. The only hope we have of these guys taking less is they take a discount like Hjalmarsson did so the team can continue to be competitive and have cap flexibility. Plus in Chicago they have a better chance to make more in endorsements to offset any money left on the the table. Toews and Kane have the same agent so I would think that would make the negotiations much easier.
  18. Kane and Toews have one more year on their current deal, but look for them to sign an extension this summer. My guess is somewhere in the $10 million per season range. That's a lot of dough but they deserve it.
  19. That's the final I predicted in the NHL bracket challenge. Kudos to the Wild for a heck of a series and playoffs. They are a far better them than I expected.
  20. Toews jaws at the refs a lot, but most captains do it's a part of the role. You don't see Toews complaining any other time. Toews is worth every penny of this contract and then some. I expect his (and Kane's) next contract to be in the $9 million mark.
  21. Another poor effort by the Blackhawks and another great game by the Wild. You have to give Minnesota credit for playing exactly as they have to and tying the series. Sunday will be an interesting game.
  22. Good effort by the Wild and poor effort by the Blackhawks, the better team won tonight. I wouldn't expect a repeat performance from Chicago on Friday, they will wake up. I would expect some lineup changes thought. Bollig and Versteeg (who I think is hurt) will be out with Shaw and Regin in. Chicago's success has come from rolling 4 lines, but the 4th has suffered the past few games. Kruger and Smith have deservingly been bumped up the lineup but that's created a void on the 4th line. I'd expect one of them to return to the 4th line in game 4. Edit: Q will swap Brookbank and Leddy for game 4. I'm not a huge Leddy fan but he's better than Brookbank.
  23. Blackhawks' Hjalmarsson 'unable to speak' but ready to play Game 3 vs. Wild http://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/496450
