  1. (Proposal) Van-Car

To Car: Jake Virtanen (RW) To Van: Roland McKeown (RD) I’m of the belief Virtanen is on a collision course to being the next Zack Kassian rather a Todd Bertuzzi type of player. A change of scenery would probably be more beneficial for his career than the fishbowl atmosphere here in Van. He’s still young with good upside I just don’t think it will be realized here. Carolina doesn’t have many RW prospects in their system and are loaded with young defensemen. McKeown hasn’t been able to crack their already loaded, young defensive core but is still a solid, well-rounded defenseman who can skate and play the PP. That’s the foundation for the trade I’m not sure if picks would need to be swapped to even things out. Thoughts?

2009 NHL Draft. Kings select Brayden Schenn at 5th overall Coyotes select Oliver Ekman-Larson at 6th overall Hindsight is always 20/20.
  3. Jake Virtanen | #18 | RW

I'd take one of Prust/Cracknell/Dorsett out if Virtanen comes in and then take one of the kids out against the Kings and put our grinder back in. Kings are a different animal compared to Ducks.
  4. Jake Virtanen | #18 | RW

Many people had Horvat as a lock last year but many weren't sure how he would perform with the bigger and faster game. The same is said with Virtanen this year where everything points to him being on the team but we're not sure how well he will perform. Also, 6 goals in 9 games is incredibly unrealistic for any player so obviously if he scores that many he will stay. He will just need to show that he can handle the pace and play the role he's given rather relied on to score. Scoring can come later.
  5. Jake Virtanen | #18 | RW

It would appear there's similar feeling this training camp about Virtanen making it this year as the 50/50 feeling of Horvat making the team during last year's training camp. All the tools and talent is there it's just a matter of if he's able to transition it to the NHL level without being a liability. Canucks kept Horvat once they realized he wouldn't be a liability and then as he played better he earned more ice time and opportunities. I imagine it will be the same strategy with bringing up other young guys like Virtanen.
  6. [Trade] Canucks trade for F Brandon sutter

If Pitts believes Bonino can play the shutdown role behind Crosby and Malkin, they're going to have problems. Sutter will have a better season with Canucks next year where his focus won't be defense first but to create as well which should be similar to his time in Carolina. Pens fans couldn't help but compare Sutter to Jordan Staal the same way Canuck fans couldn't help but compare Bonino to Kesler. Both were unfair.

Probably working out other details like limited NTC and what not.
  8. Hunter Shinkaruk Talk

Where did you get 205? Most sites I've seen say 187lbs which is average for his height.
  9. Brock Boeser | #6 | RW

    Your ignorance is inspiring.
  10. NHL Officially launches expansion process

Stoll would start on the 1st line and by the end of the period would be on his 4th line.

    Tom Sesitito hears your prayer
  12. Thatcher Demko | G

Demko has been spectacular this game. Showing great promise for the future. Reminds me a lot of Schneider. Big goalie, athletic and great positioning.
  13. Bo Horvat Talk

Nice to see Horvat played 14 and a half minutes last night too. That line became our third line and Richardsons line dropped to fourth. I'll be curious to see if that continues of if Desjardins was just rolling with the hot line.
  14. Nicklas Jensen Talk

Jensen looked to have a solid camp and preseason. Sadly though, I feel that when Richardson and Horvat are healthy, Jensen will be the guy sent down and play top line minutes until a forward gets injured.
  15. Kyle Pettit Talk

It sounds like a wait and see scenario with this kid as he's about to get a bigger role this next season. If he starts producing now that he gets better quality time and line mates he could end being a solid late round pick.
