  1. As of last night, the Canucks have played 23 games with Tanev in the lineup this season and 24 games without Tanev in the lineup. With Tanev: 14-4-5 (71.7% P%), +5 goal differential (51-46; excluding empty net goals), goalie Sv% 93.2% Without Tanev: 8-15-1 (35.4% P%), -18 goal differential (56-74; excluding empty net goals), goalie Sv% 90.2% Canucks a top 5 team in the NHL with Tanev in the lineup, bottom 5 team without Tanev in the lineup. Stark contrast.
  2. Has to be born in 1996 or later. Demko was born in 1995 (December 8th). 24 days too old. http://www.iihf.com/fileadmin/user_upload/PDF/Sport/IIHF_Official_Rule_Book_2014-18_Web_V6.pdf
  3. Possibly the worst reffed game I've seen in my life (Auger incident excluded). So bad ... I have no delusions that the Royals were going to win this series, but the refs shouldn't be making this into a possible sweep.
  4. The last place we should want one of our prospects is the gong show that is currently the Giants. Would much rather have him stay in Calgary or go to a proven program like Kelowna.
  5. 4 games ago, we basically needed to go 7-0-1 and hope the other teams went .500 or worse. They've gone better than .500 and we lost 2 in a row in regulation.
  6. I didn't say they can't be more, just saying that's what they are now (IMO, of course). Here's hoping the Giants get back in this series tonight with a win.
  7. I do cheer for the Royals and will do so tonight. I also used to go to a lot of Giants games when I was living in Burnaby 1/3 of the time from 2006-2010. Sorry, I didn't know I wasn't allowed to cheer for both teams or have an opinion, backed up by stats, on who the Canucks, my favourite NHL team, should draft. My bad ...
  8. Fistric was routinely a healthy scratch in Dallas and Edmonton, is currently averaging 15 minutes/game in Anaheim while playing half the games (34/67). He missed 6 games to injury, was a healthy scratch in the other 27 games. Am I undervaluing him by calling him a 3rd pair dman? If anything, that's overvalued. Franson is #4 in ES TOI/G in Toronto by a slim margin, gets the most PP time of any dman. He was #7 in ES TOI/G last year. Toronto almost let him go to Sweden because they didn't feel he was good enough defensively. So he's a #4/#5 and PP specialist on a team with a mediocre backend. Gallagher has basically spent all of his time on the 2nd or 3rd line in Montreal and is averaging 16 minutes/game alongside a couple others (which is upper-level 3rd line, lower-level 2nd line minutes). He's on pace for 44 points in 82 games, which is upper-level 3rd line, lower-level 2nd line production. My bad, he's a 2nd/3rd line tweener. So please elaborate on who I'm undervaluing. Brule who retired in his 20s? Bouma or Wright who are spare parts on non-playoff teams? Blum, who couldn't even crack the Wild's blueline and has cleared waivers several times this season? Machacek who hasn't played in the NHL for the last 2 years? The guys who've never played a game in the NHL? No surprise that you couldn't make even the slightest attempt at presenting an argument. Congrats on your lazy attack post.
  9. I hope the Giants pull off the upset over the Cheaterhawks, but the odds are stacked against them.
  10. That's not the way it works. If we were the 4th worst team in the league, we'd pick either 1st, 4th, or 5th.
  11. Habs fans totally aren't known for hyperbole. Diaz threw one bad pass which resulted in his teammate getting crushed and he was crucified for it.
  12. Connauton joined the Giants after he was drafted (we drafted him out of Western Michigan). Outside of Gallagher, Kane, and Lucic, the Giants haven't really produced many decent NHLers over the past decade. Franson and Fistric were almost out of the NHL altogether not too long ago. 2004: Fistric - 3rd pair dman Grant - Nothing 2005: Brule - Bust Franson - 3rd pair dman 2006: Lucic - Top 6 forward 2007: Blum - Nothing Repik - Nothing Machacek - Nothing Sexsmith - Nothing 2008: Bouma - Nothing Wright - Nothing Regner - Nothing 2009: Kane - Top 6 forward 2010: Cunningham - Nothing yet Gallagher - 3rd line forward 2011: Musil - Nothing yet Tvrdon - Nothing yet 2012: Martinook - Nothing yet Kulak - Nothing yet 2013: Geertsen - Nothing yet Houck - Nothing yet
  13. AV had to go. Whether Torts was the right guy to replace him is debatable.
  14. Because our goal is to win games and if Booth isn't helping us win, he shouldn't play. I also agree with Torts holding players accountable and the easiest way for a coach to do that is with ice time. We need Booth to play to his strengths, which is playing physical, driving the play, and shooting the puck. He wasn't doing that. Weise wasn't doing what we need him to do (play physical, make safe plays), so he sat, too. Sestito is doing what Torts wants him to do and was rewarded with PP time and more ice time.
  15. Sadly, Booth and Reinprecht have still be more useful than Samuelsson and Sturm have been since that trade occurred. That trade should've been a landslide victory for us. Unfortunately, both parties appear to have lost (well, I guess Florida saving boatloads of money is a win for them).

    How about Bill Sweatt?
  17. 10-1-1 over previous 12 games: Board is filled with positivity 0-2-2 over last 4 games: Sky is falling, we'll be competing for Connor McDavid next season We had 8/23 players out of our lineup after Kassian went down early in the 2nd; $21M in salary ... Playing against the best team in the league ... And we still got a point ... This board is so bi-polar, it should be committed to the crazy house ...
  18. Nichushkin doesn't speak English very well and we have no Russians. Dallas has Gonchar
  19. Over the past 3 seasons, in terms of production (points/82 games played) with at least 42 games played, the top 180 forwards have averaged 41.2 to 125.4 points/82 games. 50-60 points MINIMUM is a completely unrealistic expectation for a top 6 forward who is not a star player.
  20. Hi there, Paul Holmgren. How has your tenure been?
