Offending sensibilities =/= offending a person.

I gave fair warning even before the spoiler box.  I even said it was "stupid humour".  Anyone who clicks on it has nothing and nobody to blame but themselves and their own personal curiosity.

But I'll agree with the lacking "tact" point.  Anybody who knows me and my posting well enough knows that I'm not overly sensitive.  If I put something in a spoiler box along with warnings beforehand, it's because I know it will stir the pot and it puts the onus on the reader as to taking responsibility for his/her own actions.  I know taking responsibility these days isn't as en vogue though as is casting blame.

Granted, you personally weren't casting blame, just making a comment on a part of the forum made for commenting.

Sorry to hear Joe.  I know as we "mature" life starts taking away, instead of giving.  There are far too many funerals, and not near enough weddings to attend, that's for sure.

Actually my brother lived about 10 minutes away from my Mom. One day the nurse who visits her once a week, called him up, can you bring the spare key and can we check on her? We have an appointment at 10 am, I've buzzed and she's not answering.

My brother drops what he was doing, grumbling that she probably forgot and just went out for coffee or something. He gets to her place. Meets the nurse. When then get into the apartment, they find my Mom had died (Heart failure). It shook my brother up to the core. I felt bad because I saw her two weeks earlier, but I didn't call her or anything to check up on her since that time.

It's not something to joke about. Sorry to hear Joe.
