  1. I tried to warn you guys but nobody listened to me. Opened up the gazebo curtains today and had a real Temple of Doom fortune cookie type moment. Hundreds of these little buggers came pooring out and tried to scurry off. I did my part but I'm only one man. Still find the odd one in the nooks and crannys of the house but these bastards survived the winter outdoors. God help us all. We're gonna need snow shovels this fall.

Musk Today:  I will create my own chat gpt AI to combat the liberal bias in Chat gpt AI

You...literally can not make up how stupid this sounds.

Billionaire Twitter owner Elon Musk is again sounding warning bells on the dangers of artificial intelligence to humanity — and claiming that a popular chatbot has a liberal bias that he plans to counter with his own AI creation.

Musk told Fox News host Tucker Carlson in a segment aired Monday night that he plans to create an alternative to the popular AI chatbot ChatGPT that he is calling “TruthGPT,” which will be a “maximum truth-seeking AI that tries to understand the nature of the universe.”

The idea, Musk said, is that an AI that wants to understand humanity is less likely to destroy it.

Musk also said he’s worried that ChatGPT “is being trained to be politically correct.”

I imagine this is how things went off the rails at SkyNET.

I can say proudly I have never seen a single episode of

    Grey's anatomy

    House

    Breaking Bad

    Sons of Anarchy

    Yellowstone

Almost any new hot button show people are fiendish over.  In fact the last show I watched or managed to watch in most of its entirety was game of thrones.

I...don't have cable so I miss a lot

Breaking Bad does not belong there. You're missing out Hip.

Again, I would love to see a link between the plane location info and the alleged incident that Musk is claiming occurred.

As far as we know, there is none.

Reddit users were discussing this and bringing receipts. Iirc Musks plane was in San Diego at the time and his kid was in San Francisco so there's no link to the plane and the location of his child. This, along with the lack of video of the altercation, is leading many to suspect that this is just a ploy to ban the account of the kid tracking his plane. I'll post a link to the discussion if I can find it.

I saw Elon tweet out the other day that people tried to stop a car his son was in because whomever it was thought Elon was in it. Any rational person at that point is going to be willing to take any further measures to protect their children.

I know there's some debate as to the validity of the doxxing allegation itself on Elon's part. I haven't looked on Twitter much but the one thing I did see was a screenshot of Keith Olbermann quote tweeting one of the other suspended accounts that had information on Elon's flights/location & encouraging others to spread the information.

I gotta be honest, even if you hate Elon vehemetly I don't understand why anyone would do this in the first place unless they are a malevolent psycho, in which case maybe they should be banned. That's not an argument or engaging in discourse, that's intimidation of someone's person & I can't imagine the motivation for someone to follow through with that unless (from a mental standpoint) they're essentially no different from cultists.

I can't imagine myself doing anything like this at the very least. Its puzzling strategically & morally.

You mean like call the cops? Or ban the reporters tweeting that no police report has been filed yet? Which one do you think Elon did?

I'm sure he is really supportive of terrorism. The guy has an estimated IQ of 155 (Einstein was estimated to be around 160), specializes in rocket science, and mainstreamed the electric car. Yet everyone with a computer thinks they know more than him, he definitely has a lack of social skills and probably limited in the way of a filter but he is not a global terrorist and hate monger.

You misspelled "carefully curated persona". The guy apparently only has a bachelor of arts degree and even that is in question.

  7. The Surprising Benefits Of Admitting Mistakes: 5 Ways To Build Intellectual Humility

    • Admit Mistakes. No one escapes mistakes, despite our preferences for perfection. You’ll actually expand your credibility when you demonstrate the humanity of imperfection. Be open about situations where you’re unsure and share with others when you’re uncertain. Admit your mistakes and you’ll pave the way for trust and an atmosphere of openness with colleagues.

    That's vastly oversimplifying it...

People don't care all that much about tweets. They're used to rich pricks being rich pricks. It's his actions after the takeover that have people upset and rightly so, IMO.

Secondly, the hand wringing over the possible effect on SpaceX is a bit overblown as well. Last I heard, there were 2 other super rich guys with similar ventures and as the saying goes, "nature abhors a vacuum"...

Or publicly donating starlink to Ukraine and then threatening to take it back because you are losing money, among many other things. If you're not a  little pissed off at Elon then you're not paying attention.

I agree with this.  They have been trying to cancel him since he decided to purchase Twitter.  It was quite noticeable.  Now, advertisers are either stopping their advertising or are pausing or threatening to because they are saying that all the racist hate speech and disinformation has come back onto Twitter as well as all of the banned people, which is totally not true.  Nothing has changed since he took over.  The N word thing that everyone was saying had increased by over 500% was actually a bunch of bots posting on Twitter, as well as a bunch of people trying to stir something up to see Elon's reaction.  It was totally planned out.

Here is his tweet from today, obviously he knows what is going on...

I clicked on one of the tweets you posted yesterday and literally 5 posts down in the thread someone dropped the n-word, but it was okay because their was no hard r, amirite? Not to mention a bunch of alt right politicians digitally fellating their tech god. What we are witnessing is free speech at work. Elon isn't in jail for his words, he is merely experiencing the consequences for exercising his rights. If he doesn't like it he always has the option to stfu.

I have been on Twitter since 2011, so I have seen most of what has been going on over the years.  The problem with verification is that there is no set procedure to get verified.  Alot of people I know simply sent messages to Twitter and asked them to get verified and they did.  I follow accounts with over 1 million followers that are not verified and others that have like 3-4k followers that are verified.  So, the process has never been fair or even standardized.

Twitter Blue came out over a year ago and started charging for extra services.  This was needed in order to generate revenues, as Twitter does not have many sources of revenue to begin with.  Now with verification, Elon is lumping it all together and charging $19.99/m for the same service but also including verification with that service.

At the end of the day, Tony La Russa and others who need to be verified shouldn't have an issue with the monetization of verification so that Twitter can actually make money and not just rely on ad revenue.  Lots of verified users use Twitter for their business to generate income for themselves, so Twitter should be charging for that.  It works the same way with Facebook, Instagram and other social media sites.  I know people that spend thousands of dollars per month using ads on Facebook and Instagram to generate revenue.  Twitter shouldn't be any different.  The people who have millions of followers really shouldn't have an issue paying $19.99 a month to be verified.  They've been making alot of money using Twitter for free up to this point, which is the reason the stock price had been tanking in the first place until Elon purchased it.

Twitter is reliant on celebrities and other high profile users to generate the traffic necessary to keep their ad revenue up, not the other way around. They're going to be okay with or without twitter, twitter will not.

Why are Halford and Brough (and many other Seahags fans) so hurt over Russell Wilson leaving? They're overly consumed with him and hoping for his failure in DEN like I've never seen. Do they feel their love has betrayed them and walked out?

Get over it. He left because he couldn't get along with Grandma Carroll. That whiny little old man always chirping in the refs ear.

Perhaps "grandma" was more responsible for Russ's success than many have given him/her credit for? He wanted out, like the Seahawks were the problem. 4 touchdowns and 3 interceptions in 5 games says different but who knows. Still lots of football to go.

Those are domestic stink bugs. Annoying but harmless. I believe the proper scientific nomenclature is crotch goblin.

We had it way worse here in Abbotsford  about 3 years ago when the stinkers were fricken everywhere! I saw an article on I believe on SFU’s website warning about them and asking people to be on the lookout and to send pics if spotted. I emailed them and their only response was “yep, that’s them.”

Quite a few starting to show up lately but not nearly so many here so far. Maybe it’s because we’ve been squashing them steadily for 3 years.

Lol, nice looking bug you got there...well...see ya.

  14. Anyone else notice a massive infestation of these little buggers this year? I've been trying to find some recent news or articles regarding this phenomenon but I haven't had much luck. Surely this is a cause for concern as they are apparently invasive and can decimate many different kinds of crops.

I was at my dads in south Vancouver a few weeks ago helping him cut a few branches off a maple tree and there were literally hundreds of these things crawling all over the place. This weekend they were much bigger and climbing on the house. I am in North Delta and its the same thing, stink bugs everywhere.

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown_marmorated_stink_bug

The brown marmorated stink bug (Halyomorpha halys) is an insect in the family Pentatomidae, native to China, Japan, Korea and other Asian regions.[2] In September 1998 it was collected in Allentown, Pennsylvania, where it is believed to have been accidentally introduced.[3] The nymphs and adults of the brown marmorated stink bug feed on over 100 species of plants, including many agricultural crops,[4] and by 2010–11 had become a season-long pest in orchards in the Eastern United States.[5] In 2010, in the Mid-Atlantic United States, $37 million in apple crops were lost, and some stone fruit growers lost more than 90% of their crops.[6] It is now established in many parts of North America, and has recently become established in Europe and South America.[7]
