  1. I would trade for him at a discounted rate. B prospect and a 2nd maybe, but more than that would not be worth the risk IMO. He's 24.... Just about at the age where he can't get away with doing this dumb stuff anymore... I think he will eventually turn the corner and grow up, so I would take a shot at him if the price was reasonable.
  2. Right, I guess I just meant those would be the next guys for me on the outside looking in, Pedan or Gaunce could be in Utica. Does Gaunce need waivers this year? I know Pedan does.
  3. Sedin Sedin Eriksson Rodin Sutter Hansen Baertschi Horvat Virtanen Etem Granlund Dorsett Burrows Gaunce Edler Tanev Hutton Gudbranson Sbisa Larsen Tryamkin Pedan that's my best guess for opening night, but I see a ton of movement in those lines... hansen could be with the twins 5 on 5 with Eriksson on the Sutter line, burr and Gaunce could easily be in the lineup over Etem and Granlund, and who knows where Rodin will eventually fit. I think Virt will be on the team all year though, unless he comes into camp out of shape or something.
  4. I feel like the thing that the people clamouring for a complete tear down rebuild are missing is that we don't have the prospects ready to play yet. if we had some young guys ready to go but aren't getting a chance because of aging vets then I would get it, but look at our pipeline, Brock's a year away at least, Virt and Bo and Hutton are already on the team... Who else is ready to step up and play significant minutes without damaging their development? Subban, olli, brisebois, zhukenov, Jasek... I don't think that would be best for them. JB is patiently drafting well and making room for prospects as they prove they are ready, it's not the quickest or most satisfying way for fans, but I don't really see many other options.
  5. Exactly, we already had a good base of those players, except I wouldn't put Bonino in that class. Now he has added more players that play that way and fit into that style. Other than a couple of skill guys like Vrbata, Baertschi, and maybe vey and the twins, every player will skate hard get in on the forecheck and play physical. Look at how Calgary beat us, exactly that way, coming in waves, non stop energy, and it wore us down. Just my .02
  6. I find it funny how so many of the hockey "experts" in the media say they have no idea what JB is doing and every move is so perplexing. If you put each trade he's made in a vacuum, none of them are a win on a pure value scale. What he has done though is bring in players that are competitive and play the same way every shift, and shipped out players that were prone to inconsistency. With the way WD like's to roll the lines, it makes a lot of sense to have 4 lines that will all play with high energy/intensity and will attack other teams in waves and constantly forecheck. I actually think it is shaping up to be an exciting style of play for next year. As far as the rebuild goes, look at both the amount of 1 year deals that are expiring after this year and our current prospect pool. Right now we have a lot of good young prospects, but pretty much every one has a question mark about whether they are ready or not, there's no point blowing up a team if you don't have the young players that are definitely ready to step up. I think next year will be the true youth movement for the team. Cassels, Gaunce, Virtanen, Shinkaruk, McCann, Grenier, Subban, Hutton etc. we will have tons of good players who will have a year or 2 of seasoning in the AHL (or completed their Junior careers) and be much more prepared to make the jump.
  7. Yea, you could swap Vrbata and Burr to help balance out the scoring, but I don't think he would mesh with sutter that much. Towards the end of the season if Horvat keeps developing I would like to see: Daniel Henrik Burrows Baertschi Horvat Vrbata Higgins Sutter Hansen Vey/Kenins Prust Dorsett
  8. Hmm I'll try: Daniel Henrik Vrbata Higgins Sutter Burrows Baertschi Horvat Hansen Vey Prust dorsett For some reason I feel like Higgins and sutter will play very well together.
  9. I expect Shink will have a good showing in camp, and be one of the last guys to be sent down to Utica. Where he will play top line minutes and be one of the first options for call ups.
  10. I don't mind Vey on the team, he's definitely not a game breaker, but he has a fair amount of skill and is decent on the PP. Can play up and down the lineup if need be. Good contract, give him another year to either earn a spot or get pushed out by another prospect.
  11. Pretty hard to give him a grade after one day... I mean, I never went to Waterloo to watch Boeser play but Benning did, so I'll have to trust his judgement. Definitely disappointed we didn't move any vets for picks though, I thought for sure Higgins or Bieksa would get us a couple 2nds or 3rds.
  12. No split squad games this year I see.
  13. I don't think he's actually suggesting that at all, he just believes that's what it would cost.
  14. Lol, was that serious? He wanted to come back but was never offered a contract.
  15. I think McCann would be on the list as well probably instead of Baertschi.
