  1. Adam Gaudette | C

After Seattle gets their franchise I can imagine Arizona relocating to Houston, followed closely behind by Carolina relocating to Quebec.
  2. 2018 NHL Entry Draft

Great honest insight, +1 I too think that Bouchard will be a "safe" pick and project to be a top-pairing minute-munching defenseman who can contribute in all three zones and drive offense from the blueline (as you said, like Edler but with higher offensive potential). Bouchard'a limiting factor is his skating. Other aspects such as his defensive game can be developed and optimized through coaching and systems. I would like us to go for the home-run pick and draft someone with an elite skillset and justifiably higher potential ceiling. Adam Boqvist is just that guy and the type of defenseman our franchise has never had. Elite skater, puck handler, passer, and has a great shot. Excellent offensive instincts. Superstar potential. I personally prefer Boqvist for that superstar potential but understand those wanting Bouchard. Despite not having that elite skating or elite offensive instincts and ability he just consistently manufactures offense.
  3. 2018 NHL Entry Draft

    1. Dahlin ---------- ---------- ---------- 2. Svechnikov ---------- 3. Zadina ---------- ---------- 4. Boqvist Bouchard ---------- 6. Tkachuk Hughes --------- 8. Wahlstrom Dobson ---------- 10. Smith Dahlin in a class of his own. Svechnikov slightly better than Zadina. Clear top three, with right-handed defensemen Boqvist and Bouchard making the next tier. Boqvist has that elite dynamic offensive defenseman skillset and plays against top-tier competition. Bouchard has the potential to be a top pairing 25 minute/game defenseman who can play in all situations and drive offence from the back end. Tkachuk and Hughes make up the next tier, followed closely behind by Wahlstrom and Dobson. Following them is Smith, who rounds out my top 10. Outside the obvious top-three, depending on where we land I would pick the best available defenseman in order of Boqvist/Bouchard > Hughes. If all are gone then we would have a Tkachuk vs Tkachuk battle whenever we face Calgary.
  4. Tanev and Goldobin for Sanheim and a pick?
  5. 2018 NHL Entry Draft

I wonder if we could swing a trade with the Islanders involving their highest 1st round pick (projected 10th overall as of March 12th) and Tanev. With Tavares inching closer to free agency and the emergence of Barzal and him being on his ELC for 2 more years, the Islanders might look to improve their defense group. The Islanders would still have Calgary's 1st (projected 15th overall) to add a top prospect to their organization. NYI: Tanev + VAN 2nd (projected 35th overall) VAN: NYI 1st (projected 10th overall) + CGY 2nd (projected 46th overall) Keep in mind, the Islanders just traded Hamonic for a 1st and two 2nd round picks. In this scenario, the Canucks could choose who they believe is the highest rated defenseman available with their 1st round pick (ex. Bouchard) and still pick a guy like Hughes if he falls or Smith with the NYI 1st. A defense core led by Juolevi, Bouchard, and Hughes would soon rival Nashville or Tampa's defense core.
  6. Jake Virtanen | #18 | RW

If Jake can keep his game up, be given extra responsibilities (PK time, second unit PP time, a few shifts in OT), and have an opportunity to play with similar style and skilled players (like Leipsic instead of the Sedins or Eriksson or Gaunce) I can see him being a 20 goal scorer next year.
  7. 2018 NHL Entry Draft

I was hoping the Canucks could acquire another 1st rounder in a Tanev trade. Those hopes were thrown out the window after the trade deadline passed but maybe just maybe we could acquire one at the draft. Adding an offensive defenseman star like Boqvist or Hughes with our first round pick and another centreman like Olofsson with a late first would give us high end talent and depth in two key positions. Horvat / Olofsson / Gaudette would be a very strong centre group and allow guys like Boeser, Pettersson, and Lind to put their best offensive efforts on the wing.
  8. EDM: *Gagner ($1.5M retention) + TOR 1st TOR: Tanev + VAN 3rd VAN: Dermott + *Lucic ($1.5M retention) + *EDM 1st (lottery-protected) Reasons for Edmonton: Immediate and long-term cap relief from Lucic contract (saves $2.85M in cap until 2019/20 and then $4.5M in cap for duration of Lucic contract) Reasons for Toronto: Adding a top pairing defenseman while their big three stars are on ELCs Reasons for Vancouver: Needs more prospects and picks and added toughness in the lineup In this scenario, Vancouver likely has a top-5 pick (VAN 1st) and a top-10 pick (EDM 1st) going into the draft. It's possible that we could draft both Bouchard and Hughes with those picks and with Juolevi we would have three high-end puck-moving defensemen. Our core guys moving forward are Horvat, Boeser, Pettersson, Gaudette, Lind, Juolevi, Bouchard, Hughes, and Demko.
  9. 2018 NHL Entry Draft

I agree. He's not flashy but the kid puts his team on his back and drives the whole offence from the blueline.
  10. Tanev for a 1st and a defense prospect pleeeeaaaaaaaase Benning get'r dun GMs are giving away 1st rounders like it's Halloween today.
  11. Would rather trade Tanev to Toronto for Dermott and their 1st round pick, then trade Hutton to another team for a 2nd. Dermott is a good skater and can move the puck well. Has 9 points in 21 games while paying 16-18 minutes/night and can easily compete for LD minutes behind Edler. He's right up there with Liljegren as their best defense prospect.
  12. [PGT] Colorado Avalanche vs. Vancouver Canucks

How was Gudbranson? Still paired with Edler this game?
  13. [PGT] Colorado Avalanche vs. Vancouver Canucks

One step closer to Dahlin too! Optimism!!

  15. 2018 NHL Entry Draft

There's a lot of time between now and the draft for prospects to go up or down the rankings. Keep in mind, anything can happen at the draft too. Who knew Tolvanen would fall so far and Branstrom would be taken ahead of Liljegren. If Lundqvist keeps developing he's an easy late 1st round selection.
