  1. [PGT] Vancouver Canucks vs. Winnipeg Jets

Exactly why Gretzky was overrated. He has 0 career points in games in which his team was shut out.
  2. Jonathan Dahlén | C/LW

A translation of a longer statement Dahlen made: Gotta give props to his loyalty.
  3. What is your team and your role?

Not mine, but plug in Nazem Kadri's birthday and you'll find out that he's a bench warmer for the Leafs.
  4. Elias Pettersson | C/LW

The Swedish brass weren't apparently thrilled with his World Junior performance for whatever it was worth (he battled the flu for large parts of the tournament). Just for added context, Pettersson wasn't the only notable omission: To be totally clear, quite a few people whose opinions I trust were surprised that he didn't make it.
  5. Elias Pettersson | C/LW

Crosby didn't make the Olympic team when he was 18. Stamkos and Tavares didn't either when they were 19. I wouldn't read too much into Pettersson's development based on who Sweden put on their Olympic roster. There were quite a few strange choices.
  6. Adam Gaudette | C

If Gaudette signs his first NHL contract with a team other than the Canucks, I'll change my username to "I Licked Matthew Tkachuk". You can quote me on that.
  7. Elias Pettersson | C/LW

    Jonathan Darlene lmao.
  8. [PGT] Vancouver Canucks vs. Minnesota Wild

HERO charts weren't flattering to Malhotra either, but no one complained about his defensive competence because they knew how heavily AV was using him in a shutdown role. Part of why he was able to give the Sedins such a high percentage of offensive zone starts was because of how well Malhotra could absorb those minutes. Sutter is being used similarly, although perhaps not to that extreme. Whether Sutter's worth his salary might be a question for debate, but he's far from useless.
  9. [PGT] Vancouver Canucks vs. Minnesota Wild

It's the line-matching effect. Green knows he can trust Sutter's line with the toughest defensive assignment for 15 or so minutes of even-strength ice time. That leaves every other line with easier matchups, hence why they all look better off. There will be even more improvement once Horvat comes back and Green can shelter players more effectively.

  12. Boeser's gone pointless in 2 1/3 games. That's it, time to fold the franchise or move it to Seattle. Go home, everyone. It's over. No point carrying on our lives as Canucks fans if Boeser can't score every game.
  13. Why stop there? I have Boeser scoring an Ovechtrick today.
  14. Pretty much. Without Horvat and Sutter to absorb minutes playing against the oppostion's best players, that ice time is being distributed among lines centered by Henrik, Gagner and Dowd, who would all be better off with more limited usage to allow them to play to their strengths. As good as those three are, none of them are capable of consistently contributing at a high level offensively and defensively at this point in time. Leadership abilities aside, what the team really misses right now is Horvat and Sutter's versatility.
