  1. As of May 2010, there is NOBODY worthy of carrying the "C" on their shoulder. Kesler has been very average, Henrik has been average, Mitchell's days with Vancouver are probably over... I could see Salo with the "C" considering his tenure and experience, but he probably doesn't even want that role. Toews has proven his ability to lead the team, and he's leading the playoffs in points. Henrik and Kesler? Nah...

Besides, when Luongo got the captaincy, it was then that the "C" meant absolutely nothing to this team. It's just a formality.

  2. A couple of things....

Kyle Wellwood hasn't been playing very well. He has made some awful attempts at passing, and judging by the reaction of the crowd, you can tell when he's screwed up. He has provided reasonable offense, but hasn't been able to keep any sustained pressure on them. His defensive play doesn't matter if that line can't outplay the Kings' third line, since they had around 50 goals collectively during the season.

There is a massive dilemma in the whole line-up thing though... with every loss comes a massive decrease in wiggle room. If we stay the course and the top line keeps sucking, we're going to be in a deep hole. The Sedins-Burrows line should definitely be on a short leash Monday.

What do you think about transforming all our youngsters into defensive forwards? It looks as if that's the direction AV's trying to lead Raymond and Hansen towards.

  3. But with the depth the Canucks have, they don't need to be patient.

But after a three goal outburst tonight, it does complicate things.

Hat trick Sunday night too?

No hat-trick on Sunday, but he doesn't need a hat-trick anymore. In fact, he won't have to score for a while, since he's already convinced the fans who believe in him. And today, he's made a believer out of a handful of people (including me). Demitra was playing steady today, and Grabner's goals displayed his ability to score with different players. I think a third line role seems right for him, with him being the first replacement for any struggling top-six guy.
