  1. Local Langley boy. Everyone here is saying good things about him. I simply have no clue why he wasn't even signed to a minimum deal somewhere.
  2. If a serviceable D-man (of which Poolman doesn't really qualify) deserves $2.5M, we should've just given Troy Stecher an extension. He earned it. Brayden McNabb earns $2.85M per year. He is what $2.5-3.0M player should aspire to be - a rugged defensive defenceman who hits, blocks, and is smart with his stick. Not Poolman.
  3. While injuries were unpredictable and honestly very unfortunate, this contract was never going to pan out. It made zero sense for Benning to sign a 6/7 D-man to the 3-year special.
  4. @Herberts Vasiljevs wrong thread do NOT draft here
  5. You want to give up this... ...for this... Andrew Peeke is getting squeezed out because he doesn't bring enough to the table. He's a shot-blocking machine but you are dead wrong about him using his size. A good shutdown D-man needs to be tough, and unfortunately Peeke just isn't. That's why he's lost his job to Erik Gudbranson. Peeke was getting torched playing top four minutes, and he's gonna get slaughtered out here in the Pacific division. And he's a black hole offensively. It'll just put more pressure on Hughes to carry the attack. That won't work.
  6. Matt Boldy should absolutely be ahead of Zegras and Cozens at this point. He's been an absolute stud for Minnesota. Zegras was anything but flashy this past year, and there's a couple reasons for that. Firstly, the team was absolute dogshit. Everyone regressed. They earned that 2nd overall pick the hard way. 2nd lowest in the league for goals scored. Doesn't matter how good one's playmaking is - if you have nobody to pass to, you're not getting an assist. Secondly, because his team was so bad, they were always playing from behind. You can't afford to make flashy plays all the time when you're trying to fight your way back into a a game. He did have some great goals this year; one was a lacrosse goal (ultimately deemed offside), and the other was a between-the-legs goal... while trailing!! As long as he can harness his abilities into pure offense, there's no reason he can't be an absolute superstar. A decent comparison can be made with Patrick Kane. Obviously Kane had a much higher ceiling (1st overall) and his team was much stronger, but he was also a punk kid from New York who eventually became the best American hockey player of all time. This guy. Best American of all time. He figured his shit out. Zegras does need to rein in his on-ice attitude problems, though. He led the team in penalty minutes and was 11th in the league for minor penalties taken. That's really bad. What will they do the next two years, then? I feel like all three forwards should stay in the top six but you can only have two centres. It's like LA, where Byfield is the odd man out and will have no choice but to play wing. Someone's gotta do it. Probably Zegras.
  7. Meanwhile, here is Jett Deschamps, a 5'6 defenceman just drafted by the Regina Pats. Reports predict he will also not play in the NHL next year.
  8. One year in, and one back surgery later... Parayko is starting to look like a buyout candidate. Give it another two years and I bet he'll get bought out like we did with OEL. This type of player movement would be very close to how we acquired OEL. This is a hard no.
  9. https://www.hockeyfeed.com/nhl-news/rumor-no-long-term-deal-for-trevor-zegras-in-anaheim Frank Seravalli said last month he figures Zegras to get something like a 2 year deal, $5M cap hit. It's really not clear what his true NHL ceiling is, but there's no doubt he's going to be more productive as the team continues to improve. If I were a Ducks fan, I'd be pissed about this. It was good of them to lock up Troy Terry long term, but they also should've offered Zegras a 7x$8M or something like that.
  10. Защитник Никита Евсеев (Nikita Yevseyev) выбран Питтсбургом на драфте. Вы не поедете в Канаду! @Patrick Kane Торопиться!
  11. I mean, it is crazy that they have a 1st and 2nd overall pick that have both stumbled out the gates. They are being told to play a defensive, forechecking game and doing a decent job of it. It's almost like Bedard getting drafted to a team that's already stacked and ready for the playoffs, and gets forced into a bottom six role. Maybe they were just not given the best chance to become the offensive dynamos they were meant to be?
  12. Pittsburgh selects Jake Richard from the Tri-City Storm of the USHL, recently committed to the University of Connecticut. Good luck playing for the Huskies! #bleedblue @Herberts Vasiljevs
  13. Correction - Alex Chiasson. You are up once again!
  14. @Patrick Kane is skipped, per request. @NUCKER67 is next.
  15. Forwarden Kevin Stenlund från HV71 Linköping draftas stolt av Pittsburgh Penguins. @Patrick Kane
  16. Via discord, @grandmaster selects Alec Regula @Canuck Surfer
  17. Нападающий Александр Рыков (Alexander Rykov) выбран Питтсбургом на драфте. Добро пожаловать в Америку, Алекс! Ура! @Herberts Vasiljevs
  18. Drysdale is another cautionary tale of what happens when you throw an 18 year old onto the ice and expect him to live up to his potential on day one. Buffalo did it to Ristolainen. Anaheim is doing it to Drysdale. The poor guy was getting torched on the second pairing and Anaheim decided to... increase his playing time and put him against top lines. *shudders*
