Burrows didnt see Nino coming (his own fault) so how could he react to the hit coming. You can clearly see his head move because Ninos shoulder is connected to it. I agree with you on the retribution. How did someone not make Nino answer for that, especially when the game was out of reach.
-
Now youre are just back pedaling. Targeting or not, it was the initial point of contact.
-
Thats the point, he didnt need to drive with his legs. He had Burrows lined up. Because he did drive through with his legs he went from body contact to head contact, Shoulder hits head first. Is that how you play hockey? Its not where I come from.
-
I wouldnt call it a nefarious act, or even with intent per se, but that was not clean. It could have been much worse. But thats the problem here. It was bad, but only the 'worse' is whats getting punished. Burrows was not hurt, so everything is ok. What if he had been concussed, or had his jaw busted again. Still clean to you?
-
Thats called an 'athletic stance'...knees bent, slightly bent over...its how you skate. When Nino hits him, Nino is completely extended through the body. Do you really need an explanation for this?
-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dy9mo5Mo0bk Go to 40 sec, where Burrows was reaching, but 41 secs he is completely upright (in an normal skating postion) on his skates. Or at 51 sec.
-
Why do people keep comparing the two hits. Naslund was reaching. Burrows was upright and had just flipped the puck into the zone.
-
Again, then why is it that Burrows head is the first thing to move? With that amount of force, there would be clear movement in Burrows posture from one frame to the next. There is none whatsoever
-
Completely agree, but its not JUST the responsibility of the player with the puck. Had Nino hit Burrows cleanly body to body as Mitchell had on Toews, this wouldnt even be a discussion. Put into another context. I wonder what the outcome would have been have Burrows refractured his jaw on the hit? Would people still be calling the hit clean? Nino clearly makes contact with it.
-
Completely different as Toews head was never contacted. Mitchell got all body, just as Nino COULD have done, but he didnt.
-
But the head was still the first point of contact. And NN rising up to add force to the hit only solidifies that it was. If he hit his body first Burrows body would have moved first. The 2nd photo clearly shows the only thing being contacted intially is the head.
-
Burrows was upright at the time of the hit. Watch the replay again
-
Actually it was and the image I supplied clearly shows it. If he hits body first, how is it that Burrows head is the first thing that moves? In the two images his body remains exactly in the same position prior to and post contact.
-
The problem is is where Ninos shoulder is when he contacts Burrows. It is at his head and not at his body, making it the first and prinicipal point of contact, the fact that the body contacts after should be irrelevant. All that body check did was mask the head shot. When nino first lines up Burrows he is in the perfect position to legally check him from a semi crouched position, but as he gets closer and stands up, moving the point of contact from should to chest to should to head. Ill put the images up again just for reference: http://forum.canucks.com/gallery/image/3280-nino-hit-burr/ http://forum.canucks.com/gallery/image/3279-nino-hit-burr-3/

All that angle shows is that you cannot see Burrows head nor where principal contact was made. http://forum.canucks.com/gallery/image/3279-nino-hit-burr-3/ Tell me how principal contact is the body when his shoulder is the first to make contact and it is at Burrows head. The body contact occurs after.

http://forum.canucks.com/gallery/image/3280-nino-hit-burr/ http://forum.canucks.com/gallery/image/3279-nino-hit-burr-3/ Is that a fact? This is photographic proof you are wrong. If Nino hits body, how is it that the only part of Burrows that moves from frame to frame is his head?
-
If anyone has a way to import larger images or post them to the net I would be greatful. 2.6k is not enough size to post a decent sized image. The one I posted shows its a blatant head shot. Would like to post that to twitter.

I think this angle pretty much says it all. If the body was the principal point of contact, how is it only that Burrows head that moves? Burrows body remains in the same position frame to frame.

[Report] Kesler is still a Canuck
5minutesinthebox replied to Derp...'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
. Matthias was playing on the 3rd line with Florida, and is NOT a UFA. Diaz IS a UFA so we got a 5th round pick for nothing (and could sign him back if they really wanted). Markstrom is still a highly touted goalie prospect, has been playing very well in the AHL, and will do well under Rollie Mellansons tutelage (and was Lacks friend and team mate in the SEL) Horvat has been playing lights out in the OHL and will make the team next year. Moving Lunogo was a move to clear space and move on from the drama. There was never going to be a lot offered to him with that contract, thats just the facts. Both Gillis and Luongo are to blame for that contract. I for one am glad its over. I wish we could have moved Kesler at the deadline, but Im guessing the offers just werent good enough. I certainly hope that Aquillini didnt nix a potential trade that could have netted us some young talent and prospects. Whatever the case, Kesler will still have plenty of value at the draft with more teams bidding for his services and the Cap going up substantially.
