[Signing] Flames sign Christopher Tanev

Maybe he goes to bed early -
I respect/support l these public figures/athletes using their voices and platforms to try to spread awareness of the tragic effects of systemic racism in the world. It’s just I’ve always seen sports as a way to bring people together, there’s been so much division between people this year that having something we can all get excited about and come together for feels like a breath of fresh air. Score prediction: let’s see Equality take the series lead, And then hopefully the Canucks as well

This is the thing, I have no issue with people being critical of anything but it seems like the same song and dance from the same critics... draft picks/futures how could you Mr.Benning its slightly exhausting to read day in and day out. -

I KNOW! It’s all about those futures, why can’t he see that? We should be wasting away our young talent by banking on the development of future assets instead of using them to bring in talent for support. SMH why can’t he see that’s how successful teams do it. -

Where’s That Alflives character at?! -
Come on man, get your logic out of here! This isn’t the place. honestly it’s refreshing to see that there are still posters that can look at these deals with a wider scope rather than panic as soon as they see “CANUCKS TRADE: (draft pick/prospect) for (player)“ the fact is we finally have assets to use and are using them to improve. I can’t count how many times I’ve read people’s jealousy when a team with assets uses them to land a good player but when we do it the sky is falling, I think generally we over value our prospects not saying I think any of these moves are perfect but we don’t know what goes on in the room or how these things will turn out, I’m just happy we have a GM that’s willing to do what he thinks is best to move the team forward.

[Speculation] Canucks interested in Tyson Barrie

Apparently we are only allowed to roll the dice on draft picks. If a draft pick doesn’t work out... oh well we tried. If we trade that draft pick for a player and that player doesn’t work out then the world gets set on fire. -

So over the moaning and groaning about “sacrificing” the future. Management has built a strong pool of prospects and have the ability to start utilizing those assets to bring in players that can play now and are still relatively young. Sure we might trade a pick that’ll become an impact player one day but just as likely that pick/prospect could turn into a Hunter shinkaruk or a Cody Hodgson. There’s risk/reward to any trade that’s completed just like there’s risk/reward to any prospect picked in a draft. -
I guess we just hope for the best from management! Ideally I’d love everything to be done perfectly without risks but risks can work out in our favour as well, just look at the Miller trade. I think we are pretty much in agreement with things though haha, just enjoy the ride and see how things unfold.

Of course, but it’s something basically every GM has to deal with at times. I’m not necessarily giving JB a free pass or defending him but he’s done an amazing job getting us those future assets and if those assets give us the ability to off load a “bad“ contact then I mean it’s served it’s purpose imo.
