  1. When training camp was here in the Sea to Sky earlier in the year, I was holding my son up to the glass (3 years old) and Bo saw him looking around the ice. Next lap around doing drills he flipped a puck to my son but it missed and some other older kids grabbed it, my son was a little disappointed but no big deal. Bo must have seen this, next lap through, he stopped dead by the glass and handed another puck to us directly. Absolutely made my sons day/week and it's still all he talks about 6 months later. That to me is what a true captain is! Made me want to go out and buy his jersey immediately! Sucks we lost him
  2. Hatty and best player award for Virtanen tonight in case anyone cares
  3. I disagree on Stubhub comments! Have been to at least 5 games in the past few seasons for under $50 cad including fees through buying the tickets at the right times, usually really early or the day before the game. Even saw a preseason game for $16 cad all in last season! Another thing to try is buy the cheapest seat available on Stubhub and then use the "upgrade your seats" button on the app (not sure if available for all games) and upgrade to a good lower bowl seat for say $50.. For example- The January 16th game vs Arizona is $37 CAD including fees and taxes for the cheapest seat. The day before or on game day, you can usually seat upgrade to a way better seat for between roughly $40-90 depending what you want. So a total of about $90 should get you a good seat and if I'm not mistaken Stubhub is owned by Ticketmaster so safe and guaranteed.
  4. Looks like EP is the new captain: Blake Price‏Verified account @BlakePriceTSN 1m1 minute ago More Blake Price Retweeted Vancouver Canucks If you think this is a list of the 4 Alternates for this season, then you're right.. Just had it clarified, those are the 4 players wearing A's this season.. Which leads to only one possibility for the captaincy. And it's not Horvat. #EP40 #WOW

  10. i got a better idea for you.. get a job you actually enjoy doing and stop thinking of the money.. I would take a job I enjoy for 25,000 over a horrible job I hate for 80,000. After 7 or so different jobs I am still not in a great financial position but the feeling I get from waking up in the morning and not hating my job/life/co-workers is freaking amazing, something completely invaluable and something you cannot put a price on.
  11. according to a Blackhawks blog, Chicago fans seem to think Sharp and Leddy or Sharp and Versteeg would do the trick (for Kesler)... http://blackhawkup.com/2014/06/13/ryan-kesler-jason-spezza-thornton-chicago-blackhawks/
  12. I am sure a lot of people got this but couldn't find a post on it already, some interesting things said that come straight from the GM's mouth (pen); With the trade deadline a week behind us, I wanted to communicate directly with our Season Ticket Members. You are a very important part of the Canucks family, and I’d like to give you more insight into last week’s developments and our plan for the team going forward. In addition, I will be inviting you to participate in a webcast after I get home from the GM meetings and upcoming road trip. I want to articulate our plans with you openly and want to give you an opportunity to ask questions so that you have a greater understanding of the vision. Our mission remains the same: to win the Stanley Cup. Last summer we said we had to make some changes to our team. We need to get younger, faster and stronger to succeed. That process is happening now, as we look to retool by surrounding our veteran stars with new, young talent. You can look at Anaheim as a recent example of a team that has retooled successfully. Trading Roberto was not an easy decision. We are grateful for his tremendous contribution to our team and city, and we wish him much success. But the moves we've made go beyond goaltending. We are now younger and we are getting deeper. We've added a big, strong 6'4" centre in Shawn Matthias, who is excited to be here and will help this team now. And we believe in our talented group of prospects, including Bo Horvat, Nicklas Jensen, Frank Corrado, Dane Fox, Brendan Gaunce and Hunter Shinkaruk, who will be part of our short and long-term success. We are also well positioned financially, having created over $5 million in cap room to make the right deals for this team. That's in addition to the $7 million we expect the salary cap to increase next season. We approached the deadline with long-term success in mind. We were prepared to make a hockey deal on trade deadline day, not a short-term fix. The players offered at the deadline did not fit our vision of where we want our team to go. We need to get younger and more balanced to be more competitive, and we didn’t see the right players to accomplish that goal. We are not willing to compromise our long-term vision for the sake of change. We are committed to putting a winning team on the ice for you. Our ownership is supportive and will invest whatever it takes to bring the Cup to Vancouver. As we move towards this goal we will continue to invest in your arena and Canucks fan experience. Thank you again for your continued support. We are enduring a challenging period, but your passion makes it possible for us to put our team in a position to compete. Our organization is committed to doing whatever it takes to win, and we want you to be here with us when we achieve our goal. Sincerely, Michael D. Gillis President and General Manager Vancouver Canucks WE ARE ALL CANUCKS

  20. he probably should just stay in the hotel just to be safe. no need to provoke anything by showing up in areas where hundreds of your rival fans congregate after the game. give me a 700k a year and I will gladly sit in a hotel room after every game and behave exactly how my coach wants me to behave, ie. not get drunk and hang out on granville street in the middle of the night after getting destroyed on the ice the night before.
  21. If I was getting paid a few million dollars and was a "professional" athlete, I would have enough sense not to head out to granville street at 2 am after my team, the Boston Bruins no less, just got owned by the Canucks. Sure you can say he has every right to go anywhere in his own hometown but come on, use some common sense! some idiot was always going to cause trouble, it's called inevitability. It's my right in a free country to be able to go and hang out in downtown Detroit/Boston/Chicago at 2am but I wouldn't.. especially if I was a player on an opposing/rival sports team.. it's the same anywhere. Defacing a church and annoying his family is another kettle of fish completely!
