  1. Building a team you must start from the backend, then centres and last wingers. Hockey USA has this as their model. One thing I never quite understood is why PA signed Mikhevey last summer ( as good as he is ) when in fact we needed a D. Maybe there was simplly no good D'men available, I can't recall
  2. I see in the THN draft preview they figure Vcr take Eduard Sale, thats a bit iut of left field
  3. And ticket price will be ........ a rip off
  4. My recollection of Brrows was he was a sh!t disturba and not afarid of the odd tussle. He and Bieska were always in the scrums front and centre, is this Baines ? and he did I believe start in the ECHL
  5. Green has taken assistant coachs job with the NJ Devils. A bit of a reality check for him

  7. Yeah I knew that my brother lived in the good old USofA. My kids can apply for US citizenship and there are accountants who up here handle US tax returns but it's just an additional expense
  8. Yeah we ran into this problem in Business. If we shipped for example 50,000 tons of coal from India to Cape Town and made a profit why do we need to pay tax on the profit. It was never earned in Canada. It was challenged but there's no arguing with the tax man, logic and common sense simply were dismissed.
  9. H e was a minus player in Abby so maybe not the best choice for a 3C
  10. I've often thought about "the window" if you're serious you must. As a rule I always thought you needed a top end first line supplemented by a good second line all on their ELC and then the trick came filling out the bottom 6. Plus 4 D'men and a quality goal tender. We have some of those pieces but not the rest. Our bottom 6 are not up to snuff IMO, they need to be able to spell of thre top 6 without loosing the game. For the play-offs you need some grit along with good defensive skills. PA is trying but has not met the challenge, mainly because of the Cap restrictions. The 24-25 season see's a lot of RFA and UFA so I suspect that will be the moment to to restructure the roster. It ain't happening this coming season
  11. Frankli I never thought JB was the sharpest knife in the draw, plus he had an inferiority complex. This showed up clearly when he started to fire good people who had proved themselves, Gilman and Brackett springs to mind. JB was afarid they would show him up so he selected the basketball guy Wisebrod as his yes man. Sadly this ultimately refects on those that hired the guy in the first place. JB couldn't string a sentnce without puncuating with "you know" I will say this he seemed like a very nice chap, I met at a luncheon, very friendly and honest to a "T"
  12. Here's some thing I've always wondered about. Do players earn their money in their home location or should the pay taxes on the basis of where they actually play. ie if Vcr players play a game in Dallas ie earn thier income for that game in dallas why would they pay taxes as though they were in Vancouver ?
  13. Could be and I think they'll take a hard look at camp, maybe play some exhibition games. I'd like to see what Karlsson brings at camp, he played centre in the SEL and seems like a forgotten man. He did break EP SEL rookies record, althouh he was older. Buut seems to have a lot going for him
  14. The good thing for FA is he is better off by $10 million, whichs a good aurgument why he should do this. Oliver Ekman-Larsson Buyout Results - CapFriendly - NHL Salary Caps
  15. Frankly I'd prefer Burroughs to Juulsen. However I imagine Burroughs might well draw interset from other teams
  16. Lots do. The reason Bear and Myers actually played was not because they were the best but because other before them had said no. EPsaid no
  17. Let this be a warning to other players, the IIHF tourney is simply not worth it
  18. Yeah a tad early for PA considering his hands are tied by the Cap disaster. How do you judge GM's what are the parameters ? Team success should be one of the benchmarks surely. BB brought in the Sedins ( and Kesler, Ibelieve, and then blew off Umberger ) which was incredible but of success on the ice was limited. But he did apeal to fans because of his high profile and bluster, fans for some reason like the tough talk but rarely judge on success Nonis sadly was really a non event, Gillis was scorned by fans because of his aloofness, which IMO is silly. He did have the most success of any GM for the franchise. I suspect he showed up FA and dented his ego, so you' your fired. He did bring us ourown AHL team which was good considering how much our farm system was trashed in Chicago and Frederickton.
  19. The first mess up was releasing Lisa LaFamme. The senior executive Michael Melling, the vice-president, was forced to take leave as a result of botching up one of Canada's top news anchors (Lisa LaFlamme won big at the Canadian Screen Awards on Tuesday night.) so I suspect Mikey is back chopping more heads.
  20. For my own part I think JB blundered when he let Brackett go. Brackett brought a sytem and sense to the amateur draft team. There was a control aspect insituted so every one was working towards the same methodoligy. Fortunately it looks like Todd Harvey is following suit. It was not a surprise that Brackett was re-hired within days to leaving the Canucks. That doesn't happen in many managerial NHL positions ie JB and Wisebrod also Green
  21. Edler was a beaut, under appreicaited IMO. Similar in many ways to Ohlund, just go out and do your job game in game out
  22. I enjoy Buttons comments. Mostly because he's well researched and bring intelligence to his commments and in particular his draft list. He liked ASP a lot and although there's not a lot in the media it might be a case of trying to down play him in hopes
  23. One thing I noticed was Brackett was snapped up almost immediately when he left, JB, not so much. I seriously doubt JB will return to the NHL in any capacity, for a starter his expenses for hair colouring would put many teams off "The Minnesota Wild have scooped up the Massachusetts-based scout, nine days after his contract with the Canucks officially expired. Brackett’s work in Vancouver was very well regarded in scouting circles. He was promoted to director of amateur scouting in 2015, after Eric Crawford was fired and Canucks then-president Trevor Linden and general manager Jim Benning began to reshuffle their scouting department." he joined Minny in 2020 All Draft Choices - Vancouver Canucks - Team (nhl.com)
  24. Vcr have shown some faith in his future, it's up to him. I'm sure he was provided with list of improvements he needs to make. Now it's up to him
