  1. Disagree completely. Personally I didn't want to re-sign the Sedins that early. Hell I wasn't sure I wanted to re-sign them at all. But I always felt that was a decision that needed to wait until after the playoffs. Surely after the kind of season they are putting up they wouldn't be able to ask us for $7M each (although if they did I would be more than happy to let them walk and be someone else's headache). And yes, if you look at their trends over the last few years they have been declining. I don't care what one October may tell you, their overall trend over a larger sample size suggests they are in a decline. I'm not sure why anyone is really surprised.
  2. Honestly I don't see how people can blame Duncan Keith for Daniel Sedin's decline. He was on a decline prior to the Keith hit, and hasn't been a PPG player for a few years now. Henrik too has been on a decline, let's not ignore this. I really feel as if the Sedins contracts are going to be a huge albatross for this team going forward. Gillis has locked up the Sedins long-term to big contracts, ignoring the fact that they have declined every years since 2010-11.
  3. Sorry about getting your name wrong in my post. Big fingers just cannot type very fast. Regards

  4. I appreciate your posts very much. Great dialogue but most of all, they are respectful. Thanks Y2K.

  5. What about quoting other forum posters, who have a reputation for being credible? For example, (she's on another message board, but we all know topics get around), Hockey Widow is a poster who has had insider connections within the Canucks organization and has posted information (not always trade or signing information though) about the team. Would she be considered a credible source for discussion? I'm sure there are others too...
  6. In Vancouver this is considered a heat wave...elsewhere it would be considered warm summer weather.
  7. Really, I think Velasquez and Dos Santos should fight eachother to determine who the real number one contender is. But that'll never happen because there's no way the UFC is going to matchup two of their youngest and brightest stars together before they get a shot at the title. But that fight would be very entertaining. Moreso than a Lesnar/Nelson fight which I can't see going well for Nelson at all. Despite his loss to Werdum, I would still like to see an eventual Brock vs. Fedor fight assuming Fedor doesn't lose anymore in the meantime and Brock continues his winning streak. There's always going to be that 'fantasy match' in the minds of a lot of MMA fans and much debate over who would win. Another potentially good bout that may or may not ever happen is Brock vs. Alistair Overeem. Or maybe it's just my general lack of knowledge of Strikeforce and the quality of their fighters...
  8. Yeah I'm pretty much assuming that Dos Santos is going to take care of Nelson. Junior just has so much talent and when I look at a guy like Roy Nelson I just can't take him seriously as a legitimate contender. Perhaps he'll prove me wrong, but I just don't see it.
  9. The fight could have been called, but in my opinion that would have been a mistake. Fights get called when a fighter is no longer able to protect himself, and in this case Brock was protecting himself. While Carwin was beating on him and Brock really couldn't escape or generate much offense, he was still able to block most of the shots with his arms, and a couple times he was able to kick Carwin to knock him back a little bit. I don't know if there will be a rematch for a while as it looks like Brock's next two opponents will be Velasquez and Dos Santos, and I would still like to see a Lesnar/Mir 3, but I wouldn't be against a Lesnar/Carwin rematch at all.
  10. I haven't seen any confirmation of when he hurt his shoulder, but I remember being at the Canucks/Islanders game and watched Burrows go down hard and had to go to the lockerroom and I think that may have been when he hurt his shoulder. He only managed to score 3 goals for the remainder of the regular season after that incident, so if I'm correct on this it means he was playing with a very bad shoulder for a good 2 months. Anytime a player exits the season having major shoulder surgery, you know it's serious. And the fact that he played through the pain really gives him extra brownie points for his toughness and his heart!
  11. Remember the Sedins first training camp? There were many questions regarding their skating. In fact, people said their skating was not at the NHL level and they were much too slow to ever be top line players. I guess Henrik didn't really dominate last year did he? Also, I think Hodgson's back problems last year really hampered his skating, his speed, and his overall production. Schroeder will be a great player, but I wouldn't write Hodgson off just yet. He's still the former CHL player of the year, he's still got amazing hockey sense, he's still got a solid shot, and he's really not that bad of a skater when healthy.
