  1. True and same with LE, but I think the difference was how much we needed another player of the kind of skill for 1st-2nd line missing from our roster when we signed LE was a huge blow to this team. He should have had the balls to say, look I'm not fitting in, trade me... What a greedy Jacka$$!
  2. Well that's a toss up for us, LE was pretty bad too. I knew why they signed mark for leadership but he was to far past his prime and his body was beaten up from so many years of giving a lot of abuse to other players who would go after a puck with him around. A young Mark Messier was one mean talented SOB, however live by the sword, die by the sword.
  3. Well he matched Petey's numbers in the SHL, at a older age sure BUT it's takes just a wee bit of skill and determination to pull that off so I think we're ok.. Worth the risk on a ELC, no one can argue that. I just can't see that far of a fall for him that he'd be labeled a dud.. From what I saw of him after quite a bit of looking is he has a almost identical wrist shot as our Alien, dude can sure pick a corner, even though traffic like Petey, AND he's not slow. If we were to load up a line, IF he translates, with Alien and TJ in late games where we need a goal to tie or win then that would be one to call on with Hughes and OEL on point... Maybe, one never knows but I'm cautiously optimistic at this point, wait and see is kind of getting normal in Vancouver though but here we go again... After the draft it's going to be a long summer.
  4. Hmmm.. thinking.. Podz Klim and Kuz, the RED line?
  5. Andy Moog? Omg am I really this old?! SHI_T! Anyway, Andy Andy Andy like ALBERT ALBERT ALBERT on tv commercial or something back in the day? You know, when dinosaurs were still around
  6. Yeah of course, our team was last overall, garbage goalies, Miller sucks, Alien is useless, Bo is pathetic at best, Flow is horrible, Hughes is awful! Podz should go back to Russia, Hogs is even worse.. Garland what a joke, OEL a top pairing D? Hah! Myers is a shrimp, could push anyone off the puck or hit to save his life. Schenn is a pussy... And there's zero chance of Klim or any other picks who will even get a whiff of the NHL! Yeah we SUCK!!! "Please?" WTF? Are you for real?!
  7. Well let's hope he lights it up and get said so many times you couldn't possibly forget it..
  8. Well if he can shoot like an AK, I'd be more than happy, an AK-47 probably the best machine gun ever built, even close would be fine. The 2nd best part about the signing is how pissy the Oilers fans must be, and their media is now jumping on that he might not even make it in the NHL, that might be true in the smallest degree imaginable but it's fun watching them back pedal and say that kind of thing.
  9. What happened to Millsy and Flow?
  10. That was my second choice actually..
  11. Ok so we got him, what do we call him by as in a nickname? My first thought was AK-47 and I hope he scores like one, anyway what's yours? Edit: Ummm it's been said that what if he comes here and basically sucks?! Well at a ELC risk, I think we all believe at least it's worth a shot and I thought the same thing. HOWEVER! Ummmm I've now changed my mind and think we don't have much to be concerned with, why?! After more looking, I saw this... BITE IT COILERS!!!!
  12. What makes you think they can't sustain it? JT certainly can, the guy has too much passion not to be the energizer bunny... I'd rather have him leading the younger core, you can't ask for a better example of what it takes to be elite, even Bo is just starting to hit that, JT is consistent and Bo feeds off that and so does the rest of the team. And JT had a great season the year before going step in step with OV almost the whole way through the season. He was just buried in a stacked Tampa team. What a steal! Anyway, c'mon Alf, we've been through this before, we both know we need balance and we're a lot closer to that then you might think. There might be some good news IF we don't get hit with another covid wave is a salary cap increase that would change everything. I can only imagine had we had the projected 5 mil a season for the last 3 seasons raises. I doubt it will go up much atm but we have a few potential ELC's coming in so that might give us a bit of breathing room. See what happens.. it's hard to imagine the stars aligning for us as in a cup but we need to have at least a contender for more than one round of post season. 95 to 2010 was brutal especially and even worse before that most of the time. I'm not at all in for trading JT unless it's for a roster RHD and prospects but it had better be good.
  13. 3. Columbus Blue Jackets 4. Florida Panthers 5. Minnesota Wild 6. Nashville Predators 7. Ottawa Senators 8. San Jose Sharks 9. Vancouver Canucks 10. Vegas Golden Knights 11. Winnipeg Jets We all know the big losers on this list. After 52 years, the only thing that changes is the list gets shorter. I wouldn't call Canuck fans impatient. They still support the team year after year. They do? Since when? It's so fair weather, we go on a small losing streak it's blow it up and start over again or throw someone under the bus as quickly as possible.. (right Roberto?) I've been watching and supporting for that long actually BUT I've never ever been a fan who wants a seasonal team over a playoff team with depth any day of the week. For awhile we had one of the best seasonal teams going but we sold the farm to get it..
  14. His predecessor wasn't handed a broken team littered with long term contracts yes he made mistakes, and chose not to trade the twins when they were still worth something but they helped fill the seats, and actually OJ and Virtanen were picks for needs, which looked great on paper but life got in the way. Same with LE, a YouTube video of, I think the top 20 goals had LE on either a penalty shot or shoot out where he undresses the goalie completely, so what we all thought was a safe bet with the Twins to at least get more scoring but again, and what I'm starting to call the Vancouver curse strikes again, same with Rous, injured and never the same like OJ. JV showing he could make pylons of opposing players and then failing between the ears, Beagle, well just could never find his game which had been good up to he arrived here. Luc gone who was easily top 4 for years, and if you tallied all the lost playing hours of this team due to injury in the last 10 years, I bet we're first overall. If it hasn't been one thing it's another, why such bad luck here? No idea but trying to turn a shattered team into a Stanley cup contender when fans demand the farm sold to win ONE now and that's never worked, EVER! Well it will be interesting when JR and co. do things that aren't popular either but maybe for once Mgmt, besides JB chooses to build and say too bad, we have a good team, we just need a few upgrades and covering depth, and finally we can land elite status as in the top 10 teams consistently and PAST the first round, not turfed out. No it's not fun when it's obvious your close but still need roster tweaks and depth and you can bet, that was JB doing as he plugged holes until reaching a point where previous picks made the roster or waiting for a spot to open up, and steal the odd young player prospect was what he was doing. Not rocket science, there's nothing you can do in the circumstances but saying a presidents team with no depth is a good thing is b.s. when it can't get far for injuries in the playoffs always happen and that's the exact reason we have no cup. End of story..
  15. Your first sentence, JB had to do two things at once while he was here, keep the team competitive and fill the seats, plug the holes while waiting for the long terms to come off and then try and build with what was left over as far as picks and wait and see how they worked out. Most Vancouver fans are too impatient and too f'n stupid to see how next to impossible that really is in the first place and if possible how long that would take with so many variables but again, that would take thought on their own part rather than listen to our bush league media. It's going to be ironic how fast people will turn on JR and AL when favorite players are traded out.
  16. Yeah we don't want to have any 100 point players on the team or guys who can clear the front of the crease for Demko and fight if necessary. We definitely need to keep up the soft team that gets dumped first round but looks great in the regular season.
  17. I don't know, maybe I'm old school but I'd rather have comments on hockey to fill up "tween" time, it doesn't necessarily have to be our team either, but he pretends he's the 2nd coming of Howie Meeker and like you pointed out, his negativity is uncalled for. Yes some is ok but at a point it's just nitpicking. I guess I got spoiled by the best old school commentator's but they made it to another level which was so much more enjoyable to listen to.
  18. Much like John Garrett, hearing about his wife's cooking and the rest of his idiotic blather. I miss listening to pro guys like Ken Hodge, if anyone here in Vancouver was half as good as him, we'd have a good commentator for a change!
  19. Doesn't really matter who it is in Vancouver, we're stuck with bush league commentator's and bush league media.. nothing new..
  20. Well considering JB and JR are the only ones who actually tried to make this sad excuse for a franchise buck up and actually BUILD something for a change, from 1974 when I started watching, right up to 2013 there was zero depth even if we had a good roster. Nothing new until JB started it off and I hope JR finishes it because I'm tired of the b.s. about fans demanding one and done, selling the farm for one damn cup? It hardly works that way but fans demand it and still we have no cup, like I said, nothing new. NOW, I hope JR has a set of balls and tell those same fans (there's lots like that still today) to go F_ _ K themselves and finish it for once and keep building. No more bullshi*!
  21. Edmonton is one butt ugly dirty prairie city, it used to be ok in the late 70's and early 80's but it went way down hill.. compared to Vancouver, not even in the same ball park, ermm ice rink if he chose because of location he'll be in Vancouver no problem, Vegas is gross too, dirty desert city, with all the money there, I thought it would be a lot better but nope. Anyway maybe with Petey here that might help us, who knows but I wish it was over already!
  22. I think your giving him too much credit to be putting him with those 2.. not sure edm would go out on a limb to do that kind of thing, maybe but maybe not too. They'd have to be out of this world amazed by him to do that. I'd say it's a "possibility" but that would be like us promising him he'd be on 1st line with Petey and Brock, probably not but possible IF he shows THAT good and he proves he belongs there will would be a tall order to pull off... At any rate, all this won't cause me lack of sleep from excitement either but the whole deal has me curious more than anything and what if he can't make it in the NHL?! It's not like it's not the fastest toughest league in the world and not everyone can walk in and rock the show from another part of the globe. He has me curious though..
  23. I guess Kuzmenko's 2nd round of interviews are scheduled for next week BUT I'm not sure if Milstein's comments and Kuzmenko's other interviews are just doing due diligence but here's why unless I'm reading the comment wrong where he was quoted saying this "We’ve been talking to Vancouver executives for a very long time. It’s a great city, good place to play, a good team, good coach, and stable management. Vancouver should be excited for many years on what’s to come.” The last sentence leans towards that way since we could offer him a roster spot that would be his to lose. I guess we'll see soon but seems to me he may be a Canuck since no one can offer more than a one year ELC so no one can "outbid" anyone I don't think so our lack of cap isn't really going to hurt us. Anddddd if he doesn't pan out for some crazy reason, I'm still looking forward to Klim with another season in Abby getting used to the NA game before making a challenge for a roster spot, should be an interesting next couple of years to be sure. C'mon JR, I get it that you may have to pis$ people off to get us in the right direction but "just do it" and if some don't like it and do the throw their jersey to the ice routine b.s. sort of thing, F them! We have a cup to win, enough is enough. Ok I digress, on Kuzmenko, definitely worth a shot for a ELC season and see where it goes. Ok so the question remains, IF promising him a roster spot is what it takes to get him here, who does he play with, on what line?
  24. Well if Bowey is willing to be physical because although Myers can be a bonehead at times like Bieska used to do, both are a need unless by some miracle JR pulls enough toughness in someone else, losing a BIG player is a huge blow to a team needing size, Bowey isn't small at any means BUT we can't go around downsizing in any way shape or form. IF, MB is willing to play physical the way Myers does then I'm ok with it. Although in occasion when he throws a blind pass up the middle... I want to rip my hair out BUT he's hardly the only player who does that. I noticed "some" improvement last season and hope it keeps up so I hear you on Giraffe, however his replacement cannot be 5-10-5'11 and 170 pounds, try to clear out a 6'2 and up 220 pounders from the crease has a lot lower odds when your at a height weight disadvantage which WE do not need! We can't hang Demko out to dry every night, it's not fair to ask that of any goalie and if the crease if clogged and he's screened, no goalie can stop what they can't see and especially in our division and you know this Alf, careful what you wish for Mr Furface!
