  1. I've kept quiet for the most part in relation to Högs because I've had faith in his character, attitude and work ethic. He's showing all the chicken littles his value. He'll be a good skilled player in the NHL for years to come... I just hope it's with Van. As for those thinking about trading him for a RD... Come on now... His value is low at the moment... Sell low... Why?! Also, he's exactly the type of player Allvin and co are looking for. Stoked for the season!!!! Let's goooo!!!
  2. Bottom 6 perhaps.... Dickenson? Though different positions. Höglander can bring more skill to the 4th line.
  3. Wce had arguably a slightly better D. But there's no question that Demko is far better than Cloutier. We have a deeper forward roster as well. This current team is better built for a successful playoff run imho. This teams built more like the 94' team if we're comparing eras.
  4. Slower for sure... And probably less agile. That's to much weight to put on in one summer. The only potential exception is, Gauds was supposedly having troubles with his digestion or ability to absorb nutrients from the foods he ate. So I could see once that was sorted out, he may gain some real healthy weight. Curious to see how it turns out for him but I'm skeptical.
  5. From this clip, it appears that his skating is average, no break away speed. However he has the size, intensity, and is showing the ability to make a high end passes. So he sees the ice well and also shows that he's learning the ability to find the soft areas. His development is coming along very well so far!
  6. Whenever I see this rendition, it reminds me of this old Victoria business...
  7. Lots of differences here... But check out OEL... Major difference in deployment, maybe the reason his second half was that much more impactful? Quite the X factor shift in strategy.
  8. Though Podz is my favorite canuck... I can see KlimOvie, if developed properly, becoming even more of a sniper and more punishing as a hitter than Podz... But not his overall 200 ft game or elite character.
  9. Should get Miller mentoring him. As he can relate to KlimOvie's emotional outbursts. He'd be perfect... Helping him gain the tools to redirect his frustration... Telling how he's learned over the years.
  10. I agree with the Giants but what is the second pic of? Edit... Just looked at previous post.
  11. The green goblin... With a beard and a toque eh?! Colors included.
  12. Well to be fair... Green had less to work with on those rosters. So Högs was probably the best option?... However in hindsight... Maybe it would have been better had he played a half season or so in Utica to improve his defense understanding?
  13. I respect your opinion more than your playoff play there Dan... But seriously... To many are ready to trade Högs at the age of 21... He's in the age bracket management wants. He can probably be effective on all 4 lines... So he's versatile enough as well. Does he need to get better defensively? Well yes... So does 95% of all 21 year old NHL players. Is his hockey IQ elite... No probably not but it's good and his work ethic, will and want to play the right way, will help him stay an effective top 9 NHL player for years me thinks. He's skilled and has a high compete level. Right now, even if they wanted to trade him, the return wouldn't be worth it. So... Why not just let him get his game back, see where he fits. Once he does, he will either become one of the fringe core by year end or traded for an actual reasonable return. Win, win.... Capiche?
  14. I agree with surrounding rookies with vets... But not at the term and aav those vets Benning signed tis all.
  15. Lol!!! I go away for a bit... come back to this?!!! Play nice folks... Should be a good year... Poop and all!
  16. Yup... JT said as much on 'dropping the gloves' pod cast. JT's a major influence to Podz, and a perfect mentor. A special bond that will show greatness on and off the ice.
  17. That's the best lineup yet!! Perfect in my eyes. I like Hogs on the 4th as a feisty skilled scoring winger, Mikheyev as the speed, with the defensive acumen beside petey and trying OEL on the right with Hughes. Schenn as the perfect partner for Rathbone on 3rd pairing. Looks realistic and solid!
  18. Still in shock!!! I was on the... "It's unrealistic to think we could get him for less than 8.5... He probably wants to get out of this fishbowl and be closer to his family... So that will be to much money a probably term to get him to stay, plus he wanna get paid!!!". I made a trade proposal... It sucked... I read other proposals... Way unrealistic or plan sucked. Then I listened to Bruce saying, "we have the strongest top three centers in the league..." So then I was like... Man I wish there was a way to keep JT... At the very least the rest of the season and try to sign him in the off season?... I don't know!... I just want this to end... Etc... Etc. What a ride!!! You know... I'm just happy that the continuity remains intact. The whole team now knows what's the direction, the who's who top to bottom on the roster (Bo will sign soon). JT was traded here... By a no longer employed management... No one knew if he would still be wanted and if he wanted to be here. New management made their wishes known with action and JT made his wishes known in kind. All is crystal clear now!!! This team will come out guns a blazing come start of the season. A strong culture is being built... Players wanna play here. Things are looking really promising in canuckland!!!
  19. Yah that's right he's not, either is Highmore... Post was from July 3rd (prior to Lazar, Joshua signing)... Things have changed since. More recent posts reflect that fact. Regardless, just a proposal where no part will most likely be realized. We'll see.
