  1. I had a dream last night that I was at a party with Horvat and Boeser and Horvat showed me a copy of Benning & Co.'s most recent offer to Markstrom. I didn't get the rest of the details, but it was for $5.29M per year and I said there's no way he takes that, to which Bo agreed.

5.29 eh...  how many years were on the deal ?

Seems fair to me .... 5.3 Mill USD to play in Vancouver? I'd take that than play for a country doomed with civil war. Even if they gave me 10 mill USD i would never play for an american team. Would gladly take 750k and play for a Canadian team instead and maintain my pride and honour.

Long live the greatest nation on earth! :gocan:

    3. Nuxfanabroad

Strange I had the same dream..then we were all magically teleported to L Lager's farm for a Marley live show. Lennon, Jimi, Janis. Bonzo..they were all jammin' & jivin

Mods arrived w/the cops to say we're ALL suspended for a week. Then it unraveled into a unfathomable Biden speech about meaningless dreams...

it will take 6 mil a year for at least 3 yrs imo. with ntc.

  2. Man, hockey does something to me emotionally that nothing else does. Must be my Canadian blood.

Even just watching the Virtanen highlights does it for me, can't wait for it to be back, no matter what form it may take. I just want my puck.

    3. debluvscanucks

It's firmly embedded in my heart.  Feels like heart failure with no hockey...

for me it started by listening to foster hewitt and his play by play of hockey night in canada on the big radio on saturday nights. maybe in 1945. once it is in your blood, there is no escape. as we are excited about our young stars today, i was just as excited back then but young rookies such as gordie howe and jean beliveau. the game has improved and got faster but the enjoyment remains the same for me.

  3. I'm in the process of writing up a long hockey history article that I think I'll post to CDC in case anyone wants a time killer.

  4. In an effort to prove to myself that I am indeed ageless and am definitely not starting to experience the effects of aging, I successfully completed that handstand challenge that's going around. On the fourth try, but it's something.

i can still do handstands, but from a sitting position.

    3. BarnBurner

Way to go AJ and Joe. I haven't tried a handstand, but I've done headstands since the late 80's. They're amazingly beneficial.

    4. Phil_314

How many TikTok dances can you do sir?  :P

  5. Happy 40th, Bobby Lu!

    1. -AJ-

Ehhh...turns out it was yesterday. It's been a while, Lu.

  6. Throwback to the first NHL video game I ever played:

There was actually a hockey setting on my Pong console.  First video game I ever owned...

    3. RRypien37

To think...Joe Thornton was in that game...and he is still playing.

  7. Given the down time, I'm considering doing a Top 50 Canucks of All-Time poll series (akin to the ones done in 2011). Would there be interest in that?

    1. Show previous comments  3 more
    2. goalie13

This thing might go on for a while.  Might want to expand that to rank every single player to ever play for the Canucks.  Would be interesting to see who comes in dead last.  Maybe Messier?  :)

    3. Phil_314

Then maybe also the top 10 players from each position, top rookie seasons...

    4. -AJ-

@-Vintage Canuck- Last time, @Champions of Nothing did the Top 40 Canucks of All-Time list, but it was just 40 since it was the 40-year anniversary. I saved the later list of Top 50 players of all-time, but I never saved the Top 40 Canucks of All-Time list.

  8. Just got billed for an automatically renewing year of SN Now+. When I asked if I could cancel, they simply told me they don't do refunds. So now I'm out $300 bucks. EDIT: They apparently have given me a refund now. We'll see if it goes through.

@Chickenspear How are you spending 125 dollars a month on a phone bill? That's ridiculous.

    3. Chickenspear

@Dazzle Was paying high rent, roommate bailed on me, money was tight. I fell behind a month as I said, my phone contract was $80/month.

    4. Dazzle

@Chickenspear My bad. I missed the parts before.

  9. My Hart Trophy Top 5 so far:

    1. MacKinnon

    2. Draisaitl

A guy who is a huge minus player should never win the Heart.  It’s all Panarin or Pastrnak this year.

    3. -AJ-

Panarin was up there for sure, but Zibenijad is pretty nuts too, so he has some help in NYR.

    4. -AJ-

Also a caveat--I limited my finalists to teams that are currently in the playoffs.

  10. Holy smokes I live Domingue's new mask.

    1. TNucks1

      where can i see it?

    2. CanuckleHorse

There’s a pic in his trade thread.

  11. 3 hours of sleep. Desperately want to figure out some way to avoid work today, haha.

    1. debluvscanucks

That's me every day lately:  bun needs meds at 6:15 am (x 2); 8:15 am; 6:15 pm (x 2); 8:15 pm; 10:00 pm.  If I'm behind on one it sets the whole schedule back.

Hope you (we) both survive ... Mondays suck.

  12. Anyone notice the insane difference between our home records and road records?

    Home: 19-7-3, .707 point %

    Road: 13-15-2, .467 point %

Wonder why there's such an extreme difference.

Are you trying to blame the road jersey's played at home this afternoon?

    3. -AJ-

      @Ghostsof1915 you're on to me :ph34r:

    4. Jimmy McGill

      Jimmy McGill

close to .500 on the road, thats not bad actually. I'm more concerned about the "game management" going on this year with the zebra's, not just with the Canucks but around the entire league. The ref's are way too involved this year.

  13. Opinions on Tkachuk's fight with Kassian?

I don't like Tkachuk, but I respect him for taking the fight this time (even though he was thrashed). Better late than never. I get the feeling like Kassian respected it too and agreed that they're even up now and their feud is over (for now).

Should have gotten an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for diving.  What a coward

    4. Shift-4

MT19 did the right thing but lost the fight.
Next game I expect him to be a little $&!# again  lol

  14. Looked at my bank account and was pleasantly surprised, so I decided to take a look at housing prices to see if I could actually consider buying.

Suffice it to say I won't be any time soon.

BC . stands for bring cash if you want to live here......

    3. naslund.is.king

Isnt it funny..The places where lots of work and oppurtunity is, you cant afford housing. Where housing is affordable theres little work and opportunity

    4. kingofsurrey

BC Liberal party sold us all out.......

  15. Anyone know how the roads are in Langley? I'm not sure how much it snowed last night, but my side streets were already horrible.

    2. Wilbur

High way was okay.  Getting to the highway was fine, the snow from last night hadn't been cleared but it wasn't an issue.  I'm sure, by now, most of the major roads are fine.

    3. Ghostsof1915

It's just the side roads suck right now.

    4. Wilbur

Also, you can get a few from the Township of Langley traffic cameras

  16. Snow day for work! Hooray!

Even better since I'm on salary.

    1. Wilbur

      Amen to that brother!

  17. Kind of wishing my work had snow days like school used to.

Because we have hills and our streets even have  the occasional curve/turn in them....

My dog drove me around last time i was in Winterpeg.....

    3. drummer4now

BC drivers are the worst at this time..

    4. NUCKER67

Well, true, not a lot of crazy hills in Winnipeg, like say in Burnaby. I was kind of joking because as a kid we had to walk to school in -25 weather, and unless there was a real storm, we never got a snow day. I find it a little funny. Heck, as a small kid I remember putting my skates on at home, and skating to the community centre to play hockey on the outdoor rinks. Then I'd skate home lol Streets were icy eh?

  18. Hilariously, despite being on the playoff line, if you look by point percentage, both Vancouver and the Jets are actually 1st in the Pacific.

    1. Undrafted

Except the Jets aren't in the Pacific :P

  19. Good game to miss, evidently. We'll move on. It's one game. We're still 7-1 in the last 8 games.

    1. Shift-4

      Canucks missed it too

  20. Went home from work early! Feels weird to be home by 4pm.

hope you don’t get fired. wasn’t as important when you did it from school. just remember, when you get married, leaving early is called running away.  AJ on the lam.

I would almost have JT Miller on that list for Vancouver. He ha been extremely valuable to this team.

    3. NewbieCanuckFan

My vote for the Hart Trophy would going to several people:

StealthNuck, AJ, Vintage Canuck, b3, debluvscanucks, diesel_3, Monty, Roger Neilsons Towel, Templeton Peck.

(yes, this is what you call the supreme sucking up to authority post :P).

    4. 6string

      No Carter HART :P...

  23. Defs one of those times where you avoid the PGT like the plague if you want to retain any sanity.

  24. Turns out Binnington thinks he should've won the Calder and is still salty about it.

should have won nobel prize in literature too (for fiction)

    3. Master 112

      Master 112

the nobel for literature is already a funny enough joke

    4. shiznak

Canucks fans gets salty about Boeser not winning the Calder because he didn’t play a full season but never give credit to Barzal.

Statistically, Binnington had a way better second half than Pettersson. 10th in Hart voting, and 5th in Vezina voting. Of course, he should think he should have won the Calder.

  25. I'm so pumped to see Baer back with the team. Hoping he plays his way back on to the team.

    1. Alflives

Hope Bear fills the net tonight with a hatty!!!  Glad he didn't get plunked off waivers.  That was good fortune for us.
