Is Ovie human? 25 goals in 30 games at 33 years old.

Car broke down :/
-
Random fun fact. Zdeno Chara has finished 1st in Norris voting once, 2nd twice, and 3rd three times in his career.

Ohlund is about the closest. Might've had a chance at one if he didn't injure one of his eyes.
Still, the Crazy Viking with one guy *WAS* elite defensively in his prime. You could match him up against *ANY* power forward and he'd come out at least even.
-
Ohlund was definitely the closest. He's the most well rounded D we've ever had imo. Followed by maybe Salo. Mitchell was just as solid defensively and was physical and tough but lacked the offense. Salo had the offensive poise, defensive game but didn't usually play physical and wasn't tough in the pugilistic sense. You could throw Ohlund out in any situation against anyone and they'd have their hands full.
-
Weird thing about Mitchell was he WAS pretty respectable offensively prior to be drafted. Course, he went thru the New Jersey system and turned into a high-end defensive player.
Too bad Salo couldn't stay healthy as I agree he was a solid two-way D. Course, if he could stay healthy, I doubt the Sens would've dealt him (for Schaefer [sp?] I think).
One of the few Pat Quinn almost major blunders (re: Ohlund). Played real hardball with him in his 1st contract with the Canucks (though I don't know ownership forced his hands into not spending money). Lowballed so much, the Laffs actually gave him an offer sheet (back when 'the old boys network' made his an extremely rare move to take but they were so enticed to getting a possible high end prospect for nothing but cash). Good thing Quinn matched the offer sheet, and as they say...the rest is history.

I'm kind of at that point with my homework where I'm like:
"Maybe I can just save a blank word document and call that 'getting started' and call it a day".
Motivation is hard, sometimes.

Ah. The update explains the technical issues I was having earlier.

I love the optimism, but it's note-worthy that we lead the Pacific because we have the most games played in the division. Based on point percentage, we're at 4th...which is still far better than expected.

if this team is mostly healthy and within 1 or 2 games of the last wildcard spot by the all star break I'd consider that a major success for the rebuild.
The wheels will probably come off down the stretch as teams push harder for the playoffs but you can see Benning and Green are building something good here.

I had forgotten how cathartic playing music can me. I must do this more often.

@112 Maybe we're long lost twins.
@CRAZY_4_NAZZY These days all I play is the piano. I usually play contemporary music, like Coldplay.

Ahhhhh, it's time to relax,
And you know what that means,
A glass of wine, your favourite easy chair,
And of course this compact disc playing and your home stereo. So go on, indulge yourself,
That's right, kick off your shoes, put your feet up,
Lean back and just enjoy the melodies.
After all, music soothes even the savage beast.

Back at school...back to feeling overwhelmed. I keep hoping it'll get easier, but it keeps going in the opposite direction.

BCIT is a great school. What are you studying there, @J-23?

I just realized that I wrote my article on the career of Stan Mikita one day before his passing with no knowledge of it. Kind of freaky.

When I was on vacation in Vietnam I woke up with Soundgarden in my head only to head into a craft beer place in Saigon to a Soundgarden marathon, all the whike thinking "whoa, what are the odds? This is great!" Then I learned why they were playing so much Chris Cornell music.
As an aside, I credit Anthony Bourdain with inspiring my trip to Vietnam. Damn, do I ever miss Parts Unknown. Such a terrific show.

The longer I work as an accountant, the more I realize how different the language of accounting is from common language. One of my biggest challenges has been translating common language into accounting terms.

I look forward to the day when I don't feel like an incompetent buffoon at my new job.
-
Finally moved out on my own! It's a weird feeling.
-
While packing up a bit for my moving day, I found some old stories I wrote, including some very short hockey ones. My writing on hockey has improved a bit since I was 12 years old.

Boy, time sure crawls on the Friday before a long weekend.

I have so much anxiety over asking if I can leave work early due to not feeling well, because I'm on the fence about whether I should stay or not (I may be okay enough too stay; I'm not sure). I don't want to be perceived as lazy if I'm not feeling poorly enough to leave.

@-AJ-Don't let fear control your life
-
AJ, I hear ya. Sometimes it's our own work ethic, sometimes it's the pressure to impress your boss. But health comes first. Last year I went to work with a fever because someone on my team was on vacation and I needed to be at the office. Got on the train feeling crappy and within 2 stops next thing I remember was looking up at people. I basically blacked out. Was escorted off the train and went back home.
Here's the thing. The business will still be there running with or without you so take care of yourself first.

I just noticed that Ilya Kovalchuk and Brock Boeser had nearly identical rookie seasons:
Kovalchuk:
65 games
29 goals
22 assists
51 points
2nd in Calder voting
Boeser:
62 games
29 goals
26 assists
55 points
2nd in Calder voting

Officially moving out of the house and on my own in a few weeks! It's exciting, but also a bit scary.

Can we just fast forward a month? Can't wait til the Young Stars tourney and pre-season.

One of those nights I guess. Went to bed at midnight and no sleep so far over 5 hours into the night. Just giving up at this point with less than two hours before my alarm. Might be an interesting day at work...

Eight years ago today, I joined CDC.

I just realized that next year, Corey Perry will probably surpass Teemu Selanne as the all-time games leader in Ducks history. That feels weird.

Time to take a four hour exam on 4.5 hours of sleep...whoopee...

When does free agency open tomorrow? Is it 12pm noon PST?

Internet died for like 2 hours due to a thunderstorm (presumably). A interesting middle point of not having power and normal life.
