  1. Kevin Bieksa you are really...

Bieksa's still the man When did this thread turn into a circle jerk?
  2. Kevin Bieksa you are really...

Do you honestly think your poop or get off the pot comment was that brilliant that you need to post it in every thread? Every time i read one of these threads i picture this guy sitting in his garage which is covered in pictures of bieksa which have been defaced with depraved, semi-homoerotic statements watching the canucks game in his underwear, a pad of paper at hand, intently jotting down every mistake made by #3, muttering to himself "poop or get off the pot my precious" and chortling at his immense wittyness.
  3. Burrows? Do We Really Need Him?

I just re-read the op, first time in forever. I lol'ed so hard at the end where he says to keep krog, pettinger or brown and i was like "who?" and then i remembered and i lol'ed again. This thread will never get old. I can't wait to check it out after they retire burr's jersey. The real reason the forum got rid of the negative button is because the site couldn't handle this thread!

omg, this guy still posts? I thought for sure that this last season would have shut him up by now but oh well. bieksa'a play is not inconsistent, rather he has performed up to the best of his abilities at the tasks set out for him by the coaching staff. When we were an offensively challenged team he was called on to be offensive and he was effective. This last season and a half, as our offensive skills have improved, he has been asked to be a more defensive minded player and he has succeeded at that. No matter what role he has played, he has also been our toughness on the back end, and is one of the guys in the league that other players fear to anger. Bieksa, Kesler and Burrows have been the heart and soul of this team throughout it's current incarnation. Their games have changed in response to what the team needed. They are the guys the coach taps on the shoulder when he needs something done, and they put their all into getting it done. Bieksa deserves every penny he earns, and every ounce of respect he's given. You deserve nothing but scorn. Go crawl back under your rock.
  5. Burrows? Do We Really Need Him?

A power forward ala Rick Nash to play with the twins Burr, Kes, Hansen hardest line in the league to play against. MG make it happen!

...... missed Bieksa is one of the true core players on this team. I don't think it's a coincidence that he went down and then we started slumping. He is the leader on the back end, a true friend of many of the core guys and my hands down pick as the canuck I'd most want to have at my back during a zombie apocalypse. I have, do and always will believe that his earlier "inconsistent" play was 110% the result of him being asked to take on roles he was not meant too, in order to fill holes in our team, because when a coach needs something, guys like Bieksa and Kesler are the guys the coaches go to. Guys like this win championships. go canucks go

the fight was sweet, not to mention his awesome defensive move at the line to rob the pens of a 2 on 0 against the empty net. A nice solid effort.

This is a common way players are criticized as they go through their careers. The problem is that when guys are starting their careers, they need to make a name for themselves. As well, as they are usually farther down the depth chart, it is these kinds of things that are asked of them. As they progress through their development and become more important to the team a couple of things happen. The first is that new guys step in to take the place you left vacant. The second is you become to valuable to lose either through majors or injuries. This is why guys like Bieksa and Kesler have been criticized for playing "softer", or with "less intensity". what you are actually seeing is them maturing and following their coach's instructions to be more disciplined. Like it or not, these guys are leaders on this team and need to act it. Besides, they have Rome and Glass to do the dirty work now.

Everyone gave the puck away a lot in the first last game mostly from putting the puck into the center of the ice, or trying to exit the zone with a cross ice pass. every time it happened, I was like WTF??!! My friend thinks it was some scouting decision that went wrong. Like the coaching staff watched some video and felt that Ottawa was weak in these areas so they tried to exploit it. We won the game by abandoning that idea. With that being said, Bieksa was no worse then anyone else in this regard.

He was Kevin Bieksa!!! Don't you see?
  11. Burrows? Do We Really Need Him?

This thread, it's history and the on ice actions that have created it are a testament to the strategy of letting the guys who fight for the ice time play that this team follows. It also is a glaring example that the management and coaching staff know far more then we do about what is happening on the ice. In that way it is a warning to many people on this board.
  12. Burrows? Do We Really Need Him?

the real question though: Will Alex Borrows return to his 06/07 form?
  13. Negativity in the media hasn't helped so far. So why not change it?

these guys in the media only have their jobs because other people in suits who know and care nothing about the Canucks feel that they are the best to serve the market and therefore profitable. Blaming the media for the negativity is divulging ourselves of the responsibility for our own negativity. Mike Gillis has tried so hard to change the culture of this team and city but the bottom line is it is we who are responsible for it's failure so far up to this point. If we the fan became more positive, the corporations that control the media would ensure that this is the outlook they portrayed in order to serve their audience. Go Canucks Go

We are LUCKY right now that we didn't trade Bieksa. Depth is key.
  15. thanks man. I have lurked on this forum for awhile but thought it might be time to speak up.
