  1. i don't believe the system do believe it is flawed. The NHL in trying to address the potential of teams "tanking" replaced the old system with one that achieves that goal at the expense of not helping teams that really need it. No way should a team that finishes middle of the pack have any chance at all of picking ahead of a bottom 5 team. I would like the league to divide the lottery into categories i.e. bottom 1-5, 6-10, 10-20, 20+ The bottom 5 teams each get one ball and a 20% chance of 1st over all(better than the current last place finisher). Worst they can pick is 5 but each gets a pick in the top 5. Same for the 6-10 teams...each has a 20% chance of picking 6th and at worst 10th. Teams in the 10-20 range have a 10% chance each at #10 but will pick in the top 20 guaranteed. Top teams basically have the same odds for picking 21 +. This still eliminates the advantage of a team tanking for #1 while giving the weakest teams a decent chance at the top prospects while eliminating the chance of a team falling too far down. It has the added benefit of allowing the bottom 5 teams to still play hard for the good of the game at the end of the season without fear of reducing their odds for the #1 prospect. The current lottery is a joke and does nothing to address the needs of the worst teams in a fair manner.
  2. Yes or no to the Sedin’s next year?

too one dimensional. His Zone entries are weak, can't protect the puck, defensive zone is a disaster. Kids may not be quite as good at setting guys up (though, that is not proven) but they have more speed and upside. Hank's weaknesses are just too hard to cover up.
  3. Good illustration of the problem. I know a guy who was parked in a parking lot texting. His engine was running so a cop gave him a ticket for distracted driving even though he was parked.
  4. Well...food in the car being consumed by passengers/kids is not distracting so pretty hard to ban drive-thrus. as for banning all distracting acts/items...best to simplify cars then and ban the new computer screens with their 500 functions. talk about distracting a driver as they flip through menus to arrive at the correct function. Those things are at least as bad as phones, so why are they allowed in cars? How many people will be charged, fined etc. for adjusting the fan on their HVAC? To me, it isn't just the complexity of the issues, it's the application by the police. I have seen too many cases of laws being improperly applied, officers over-stepping their authority or in some cases simple abuse of power to be comfortable with making front-line troops judge, jury and executioner.
  5. Yes or no to the Sedin’s next year?

No way to know for sure but if he as playing with some combination of Brock, Bo, Petterson, Liepsic, i think he just may score more.
  6. Yes or no to the Sedin’s next year?

so...keep Danny and let "2 goal" Hank retire?
  7. The danger in this new approach is that "distracted driving" is anything the cop says it is and it's his word against yours. You could be charged for adjusting your radio or changing the heat setting on your HVAC. Because the punishment comes with severe financial penalties (as in taxes) it is too attractive for politicians to push for aggressive enforcement. I agree that distracted driving is an issue but without photographic evidence of the incident, this is a blank cheque for the police and their political masters to generate revenue in the name of safety.
  8. NDP Score Own Goal in FIFA Bid Debacle

Grandstanding is Trump's style. It's a dangerous game and seldom achieves the desired outcome....At least not without collateral damage.
  9. NDP Score Own Goal in FIFA Bid Debacle

I'm in the same boat Jimmy. This is not the major loss some seem to think but it is one more opportunity to show BC's beauty and potential to many in the world that - despite what many BCers think - would not be aware of it or choose to look here for travel, set up business, etc.. Maybe BC can rely on its reputation for high taxes and generous social programs to attract investment?
  10. [PGT] Vancouver Canucks vs. Anaheim Ducks

Looked to me like our guys were chasing hard to try and catch a team that was coasting at half throttle.
  11. [PGT] Vancouver Canucks vs. Arizona Coyotes

If you believe talent is the main criteria for a good captain, you have never played competitive sport.
  12. [PGT] Vancouver Canucks vs. Arizona Coyotes

Jonathan Toews Young, emotional, effective...LIke Bo except Bo is a more eloquent speaker.
  13. [PGT] Vancouver Canucks vs. Arizona Coyotes

Looks like it but can't tell for sure. Not sure what he and his 2 goals this year have to be happy about. He just played the worst team in the league getting weaker match ups and preferred o-zone time and produced absolutely nothing. There is a big difference between veteran leadership and veteran bodies. WE appear to have lots of the latter.
  14. [PGT] Vancouver Canucks vs. Arizona Coyotes

Veteran Leadership...Mentoring...Winning environment. You need guys like Gagner to shelter the kids. ...and some wonder why Bo is so frustrated.
  15. Stop the Sedin Hate

    Could be. Time will tell.
