  1. Another disgraceful performance. Atkins, Schneider and Martinez all need to go, along with most of the lineup. These guys just don't cut it in the "get it done" league.
  2. This year's Jays flat out suck. They don't deserve to make the playoffs even if they somehow squeak in. Vladdy seems like a slow learner, swinging at sliders out of the zone all year. Getting rid of Hernandez, Gurriel and Moreno was a big mistake. But they're going to have to clean house again.
  3. Great choice. He's not as big a personality as Miller or Petey but that's a good thing. His smarts, work ethic, competitiveness and consistent improvement are what make him the right guy for the job. This is the example you want to put forward for the rest of the team.
  4. May have to make that switch, especially with Teo there, but old habits die hard.
  5. Hockey can't start soon enough. Watching these guys underachieve is wearing really thin and I've been a fan since 1984. At least when the Canucks suck we're dramatic about it. There's something gutless about this version of the Jays: lots of fun but no backbone. I thought Keirmayer might provide that and he has a bit, but not enough to cover for Springer and Vladi. We could use a bit of George Bell or Jose Bautista, not to mention Marcus Semien, in this lineup. Most of the guys we've got are okay with losing.
  6. I'm suggesting this move reeks of hypocrisy. And who the f do you think you are policing every discussion on this board with your hysterical russophobia?
  7. Right, because they banned the US over Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and all the others we've lost track of.
  8. Yes, I noticed that too, both on McNabb and in the more general improvement in his game since Tocchet took over. J.T. is a force and when he plays a physical game it sets his skill free. Same with Ovi and MacKinnon, and yeah, he can be that good. He absolutely has taken over some of Schenn's protection role and that's rubbing off on the whole team. I like where this is going. Back when J.T. first got here it was clear that he was the team's emotional leader. A few ups and downs since then but we're seeing it again. Players like J.T. don't grow on trees and Tocchet is the perfect coach for him.
  9. If he's earned it, absolutely. We'll have 9 mil coming off the books with Myers and Pearson alone.
  10. The hits are surprising: time was not so long ago that they really pushed us around. Not so last night. I know, it's partly a result of not having the puck, but we're a couple of D upgrades away from being able to play with these guys.
  11. Good test coming up here against a strong play-driving team. Hope we hold our own better than we did against the Kings. We're gonna find out where we are in "the process".
  12. I'm not sure who to believe about that rumoured offer, Allvin or our lying media. Whatever the case, that is an example of the kind of offer management isn't going to accept, rightly so imho. They aren't desperate to move Miller, who probably still has 4 good years left in him that overlap with Petey and Hughes. If they could get a near-equivalent younger player plus other assets in a deal they'd probably consider it but who's offering that?
  13. I wouldn't be against it on principle but the return would have to be better than what we got for Bo. Since we're playing our way out of the top C prospects in this year's draft, the return would probably have to include a prospect who could take over at 2C. That wouldn't be an easy deal to make. The team definitely needs a lot of work but it also has some great core pieces, of whom Miller is one. Subtracting him in addition to Bo is probably a deeper reset than management has in mind, but it all depends on what they could get. I agree that he's not untouchable like Petey and Hughes, but the last year plus suggests that they'd be looking to win any deal for him and that he wouldn't be a cap dump.
