  1. Had they played when they were supposed to play, different result for sure. Disrespect the hockey Gods and they come back to bite you. Canucks have finally cursed themselves, not like they needed the help.
  2. Funny to see the Canucks get &^@#ed over by their protest earlier in the series. Shoulda played on time earlier.
  3. If this team makes it to 8:05 in the third, still tied, they will be the 4th best Canuck team in the playoffs ever. WCE lead by one entering the third. Still have work to do.
  4. Not yet. Still have a little work to match West Coast Express era's peak. Leading by 2 in the 2nd would do it. Top 5 though. Unlike that team, this team hasn't lead at any point of their second round series.
  5. This team has an argument for being the best core that Vancouver has had in their history. No canuck team has won 7 playoff games, the year after missing the playoffs. The best was in 2008-9, when that Canucks team lost in 6 to the Blackhawks. The next team up is the peak of the WCE, with their loss to the Wild in 7. This team will have to take a 2 goal lead in the seoncd to match the WCE high point, so they have a little bit of work to do. That will leave the three famous squads, 1982, 1994 and 2011. And we all know how they did.
  6. "Hockey for me offered hope. Some light in the dark tunnel." I felt exactly the same. 2020 has been a horrible year for me as well. I had zero hope for the playoffs this year, I thought that hockey would take their lumps and gear up for a season starting in October. I saw how the Canucks did without Markstrom, and I feared that they would simply fall out of a playoff spot in the end for their fifth season without playoffs, which would be a franchise record. I was pleasantly surprised with the Minnesota series. I disagreed with how the NHL ran it, I thought that they should take points percentage and cut it off when the season stopped. I thought that was the fairest way to run it, so that teams that didn't get as many games had an equal opportunity to make the playoffs. I think the 'expanded one-time tournament' was not a bad way to do it. Happy they beat Minny to arrive at the real playoffs. Then they knock off the cup champions in an absolutely thrilling series. Me and my brother had been watching the series together. We really like the grit and the heart in this new team and I was looking forward to more years with Quinn Hancock. Then this. They would never do it for Republicans. They didn't stop play for the girl and her father who were shot by thugs. No, they did it for a man who raped a 15 year old girl. They forget what Jordan said many years ago, "republicans buy shoes too". Hockey has had a tough year, but the in your face preaching the tired old saw of 'racism', "you are racist unless you agree with us". Why would I want to be a part of that toxicity and participate in it? So I'm out. They have said, "we believe so strongly to tell you that you hate and what you believe is wrong, that we are willing to stop playing to stand out there and tell you that you have to agree with us or we'll call you racist". Yeah. Sure. And see above in this thread. Again, "you must agree with us or we'll call you racist". That is toxic behavior. I wanted to like this team and cheer them on, and see what they would do. But until they issue an apology to all of their fans, I'm not interested in watching the remnants of this playoff run. Nor will me and my brother watch together. We can do other things like playing games together - where we don't have to see advertisements telling us, "you are racists unless you agree with us". I thought it was all about the hockey. But sadly, it's not. I've waited 5 years for this to see the Canucks in a relevant playoff game, and they decided it was worth cancelling those games to "make their point". Got it. Loud and clear. Get Woke, Go Broke
  7. Get Woke Go Broke. Canucks screwed themselves. They had all the momentum coming out of game two and decided that it was more important to posture than to play hockey. They won't win another game. Good riddance.
  8. "Trotz's pedigree" What pedigree? Zero conference finals in 15 years? League average coaching would get you there at least twice. The Canucks had a 17 year drought from '94 to 2010, but that cost Crow his job. Do we want a 15 year finals drought here?
  9. Florida also has a goaltender who's made the playoffs. If Trotz was any good at developing forwards, wouldn't we have seen at least one in 15 years? Do you really want him screwing up on the development of Horvat?
  10. Ugh. Weisbrod. Why? There are better candidates elsewhere.
  11. Buzzsaw, you'd trade the number one scorer on the Canucks just to pick up Boyle? Terrible deal. People need to accept reality that the Sedins are the problem on the powerplay.
  12. "The Sedins are not 50 point players" They are now. Dank didn't even get to 50 points on the season. Canucks record btw for their number 1 forward. "Last season was an anomaly" Nope. It's consistent with their decline last season as well. "I think it's more than likely he'll rebound". What if he doesn't? Do we fire coach and GM in December if they continue not to score? "offensive players should be encouraged to score". I would agree with this if Hank and Dank were still first line players. They aren't. Neither Hank nor Dank performed at a level consistent with first line players in the NHL this season. And that's being charitable. They would be solid second line players which means doing the little stuff. "There is too much dependency on the Sedins". You are not going to win many games where your top line combines for just 112 points in a season. That's an average of fewer than 1.5 ppg. As a line. Assuming 3 points per goal, that's a goal every two games. The reality is that the Canucks had excellent contribution from everywhere, save the first line. They would need to increase their output to around 170 points just to reach league average.
  13. "Torts shouldn't have tried to make a playoff team in just one year." Last I checked he had a 4 year contract.
  14. Nuck nit: "Ehrhoff is our savior" No, he's not Garrison is younger and better than Ehrhoff.
  15. "A rebound is surely coming next year." What if it doesn't? Do we fire coach and GM in December?
  16. "You don't expect top scorers to block shots". So we've got two 50 point players on the first line who can't play hard minutes, can't backcheck, can't forecheck and can't block shots, and can't score on the powerplay. Does this sound to you like a recipe for success going forward, Deb? If Dank and Hank were Ovie, I could see it. But they aren't and haven't played at that level in years. It's unrealistic to expect them to play at this level. If Dank and Hank want to extend their careers in the NHL, they are going to have to do the little stuff.
  17. "Burr's proven his ability to 'come back'?" Sure, if you believe that 15 points per season is his new level.
  18. Maybe we should be asking ourselves if AV was part of the solution as to why the Canucks had back to back presidents cup trophies.
  19. "Supporting cast" The numbers don't support that argument. Kesler was a solid 2nd liner. The Canucks have plenty of players in the 2nd line that performed as well or better than their peers. Higgins was indistinguishable from Daniel Sedin. Once again - the solution isn't to bring in another 2nd line/3rd line. The Canucks have an abundance in those players. It's about getting an actual real top line performance. Higgins, Kes, Santo was a great second line. Support isn't the problem. The problem is the Sedins.
  20. "Ruining their development" Who's the last forward the Canucks have developed who's under 30?
  21. Canuck Surfer: Let's play a game. The Sedins last season were the 100th best forward. That's the equivalent of a backup goalie. Find me a season where Bobby Lou's save percentage was anywhere close to the 30th best goaltender in the NHL, who played a similar number of minutes. I'm glad to see Lou traded to a team with an interest in winning.
