  1. Just saw the new Grinch movie. I can safely say that it was good enough for me to forgive Illumnation for their Lorax movie

      @Rounoush you take that back!

Jim Carey was amazing in The Grinch

@5Fivehole0 Regardless of if Carrey's performance was great or not, that movie was hot garbage.

  2. Feeling pretty good about putting down $20 on Petterson for the Calder yesterday morning. Although I did also put $10 on Yamamoto just in case. Guy's guaranteed time with McDavid and Draisaitl, after all

BCLC gave 6.25 to 1 on Petterson, 16 to 1 on Yamamoto.

  3. Ok, Netflix, I admit it, you were right to spam me with adverts for 'Hilda'. It's a pretty good cartoon. I'll treat it as your apology for that Magic School Bus reboot.

I thought their "Final Space" cartoon was pretty good too.

  4. Well, no bet money for me.

  5. Anyone got money riding on the Finals? It's my first ever sport bet, and I got $45 on Vegas winning in 6 or 7 on BCLC. I also put $5 on Kuznetsov winning the Conn Smythe...not such a great move now.

Couldn't bring myself to bet on it after seeing Sutherland assigned to the series.  I simply don't trust that scumbag not to rig the final.

    3. Neil HD

      Neil HD

At the time I placed the bet, the payout on both series outcomes I picked was 4.9, so I put $22.50 on each. Also, the payout for Kuznetsov was 20.

As for Sutherland, I see your point, although there are no Canadian teams to get screwed over here. Besides, if he does strike again, he would probably be under orders to steer things in Vegas' favour, given the massive PR/ ratings boost if the Cup is won by an inaugural team carrying the hopes of a city dealing with a somewhat recent tragedy.

Also, I remember that Ovechkin and the Capitals management were pretty defiant when the NHL was enforcing the Olympic participation ban. Bettman probably won't forget that.

Sorry if I sound like a conspiracy nut, but anything with millions of dollars at stake needs a cynical view.

should've put 100 on Vegas to win back last summer when the odds were 500:1

I still love Kate Winslet. But the supporting actors on that movie where fantastic. Why is it the CGI in that holds up better than some later CGI?

  9. Down the stretch, all I want this team to do is help get Horvat his pound of flesh in the form of points.

It looks like they're too inept to even accomplish that.

  10. A question of Pokemon fans familiar with Gen 1: Which of the original 151 Pokemon do you think was forgettable enough that it shouldn't have existed? My vote goes to Tangela

  11. Wish I could jump in there and roll around in all that cascading white powder...

  12. Rough game, but at least Boeser isn't being held back by Horvat's absence.

Also, I had the weirdest dream about Horvat. In the dream, the Canucks fell out of the playoff race on the last day of the season at the Oilers' hands, and the Sedins were directly involved in every goal against. Horvat then blew up at the team in a players meeting, tears and all, and directly called out Henrik.

Then the dream cut to Horvat in a parked black SUV, cussing out people over the phone. For some reason, I was part of the team, but was wearing a boot for a foot injury. I was about to call Horvat to invite him to an escape room, but I woke up at that moment.

It's all of you dumbasses that keep feeding these companies cash after already initially buying their games that are at fault.

Let them cry about how much games cost to make.  They can do what movie companies do and team up with other companies if they don't want to risk losing their rear ends if their game fails.

  16. Had a bison burger for the first time yesterday at Sharkey's. Very tasty, like a leaner version of ground lamb, as opposed to the beef flavor I was expecting, and it paired really well with the whiskey BBQ sauce.

      Kangaroo burgers are exotic :3

  17. So I finally got around to watching Spider-Man Homecoming, and I was pleasantly surprised. Tom Holland did a great job portraying both Peter Parker and Spider-Man, and the writing and directing did a pretty good job of honouring the comic books while bringing new concepts to the table. Overall, it's equally as good as the first movie from the Sam Raimi trilogy.

Also, that twist regarding the Vulture was beautiful. Had me doing this the whole scene: 306f4c6bc76bb57353d349af5c4964cbc09305c9f5029d319443922b8b3b8f07.jpg.ebe22a569dd48ecae22e27647f076b9f.jpg

It's not a matter of value, his inconsistency, and gaffes far outweigh any positives. I don't wish him ill will. He's in a position where he's relied on as a top d-man, and clearly can't handle the pressure or the minutes.

    3. Where's Wellwood

      Where's Wellwood

We should trade Edler to Team Sweden. He plays good there. I think Karlsson would be a fair return. He has zero games played with Sweden this year. Sweden doesn't need him.

    4. Down by the River

      Down by the River

Alex Edler was fine until the last 20 games of the season when he appeared to simply give up/got tired, whatever.

The Canucks have to rebuild somehow, and I think you get more for Tanev than Edler. You also can't trade them both or things turn into Edmonto circa 2009-2015.

  19. So who else is at the Rugby 7s tournament?

  20. Just a reminder that I'm hosting a game of Cards Against Humanity for CDC.

We'll push the game to 6 pm PST, on the "falcon with a box on its head" server.

The game will be labelled with my CDC username so it's easy to find, and the password will be Canucks.

Think you could bring a few friends? I thought this would be more popular, but nobody's biting so far

  22. I'm watching the Super Bowl mainly because of Michael Vick's Players Tribune article.

I have a huge problem with the guy stating that his "rock bottom" moment wasn't the dog-fighting conviction. Instead, it was calling the Falcons for his QB job back (as if it was even fair to expect them to do that), only to be told about Matt Ryan being drafted.

To me, that's self-centered and egotistical to the point of psychopathy, and I doubt he would have stopped if he wasn't caught. It casts a shadow over the pro-animal welfare actions he taken in the years since his prison term.

As an animal owner myself, I just can't forgive his actions, and I would be glad to see Matt Ryan and the Falcons win it all just so Vick becomes a footnote in the team's history.

I understand where you are coming from, and I condone Michael or his actions. However, as a football fan, I am telling you Michael Vick will never be a footnote in Falcons history. He was, in his prime, the most dynamic player in football bar none. Think Bure when he broke into the league.
