  1. Thinking back on it, Gillis really should have just given Willie Mitchell the two-year deal he wanted. Then we could have saved the assets from the Keith Ballard trade and used them elsewhere.

No good forwards, which is what we needed, were available at the time.

I agree that holding onto Mitchell as our 3LD would've worked out well. We win the cup in 2011, we do well in 2012 and then we start rebuilding in 2013. Changes the whole trajectory of our franchise with one move.

@Alflives Why do you keep parroting the same ideas without going into detail with them?

The Keith Ballard trade was an absolute disaster from Gillis. He himself bought Ballard out later lol.

20/20 is hindsight.  Maybe Jim Benning should'nt have given that *UNINSURED* contract to Ferland because of *SAME* injury concerns.  Kings could afford to take that chance on an *UNNSURED* contract seeing as *at the time* they weren't going anywhere performance wise (remember they *DID* fire their head coach not that long after Mitchell arrived in LA).

  2. Want to see change? Stop going to games, stop buying team merch and products. Resist the urge, and encourage your friends and family to spend money on literally any other entertainment

It can only get better when Aquilini has to sell the team to minimize losses. If you're even remotely afraid a new owner will move the team, don't be. A leader even slightly smarter than Aquilini will not see the planning, time and cost of a new location as worth the investment, not when most of the ingredients they need to succeed already exist here.

  3. If Boeser can't fire off those rocket wristers anymore, he needs to adopt Tyler Toffoli's playstyle and score dirty, close-range goals like the one today

  4. Demko needs to be shut down for the rest of the year, even if he's supposedly healthy. Not only will he overexert himself because of our garbage defence, but now I simply don't trust that the medical staff is allowed to diagnose and treat injuries without pressure from Aquilini

  6. The 2016 draft year really was a clusterf*** in that first round.
  7. According to the Buffalo News, Sabres are looking to terminate the contract since Sheahan won't report to Rochester
  8. I'm low-key furious that the Canucks are so cap-****ed that we likely won't get to keep Kuzmenko long-term

Well it’s not just Kuzmenko. Management is forced to make moves now. There’s no way around it. I’ve been on a heater about non-moves myself but until we see how it all plays out we can’t guarantee one way or the other. There’s players on this team with cap that other teams should see value in

Gives management some great options to trade someone to make space for him and get some assets or trade him for assets at the deadline. Not sure I understand why anyone would be mad he has turned out to be great?

stupid to worry about things we can't control. allvin will do what he has too. i'm sure if he could trade OEL, myers or even miller, he would do it.

  9. The devil is in the details here. The fact that these games are only "winnable" because our opponents are bottom feeders means one thing: if we can't do any better than .500, what's going to happen when we clash with even slightly superior teams?
  10. Legend has it, if a Canuck executive says the word 'rebuild' 5 times in front of a mirror, Frankie Aquilini appears behind them

Apply it how you want. kaam-chor काम-चोर•کام چور Origin: Hindi Vazn : 2121 English meaning of kaam-chor Hide Adjective shirker, idler, lazy, slacker skulker, good for-nothing one who shirks work, one who does not give his full tale of work, an idle fellow

  13. Is anybody else wondering how we missed the boat on Tyler Motte? I'd pay him $1.5M just to make our penalty kill respectable

Also, if Kuzmenko turns out to be the real deal, do we trade someone like Boeser for that top 4 RHD to partner with Hughes or OEL?

    1. Ghostsof1915

      Ghostsof1915

Motte is not the answer. Great work ethic. But in 2 games for Ottawa he's 0 points and -1.

  14. With their structure being what it is, that team needs all the savings they can get
  15. Does anyone feel bothered by Sony putting out a movie as terrible as Morbius, only to get financially propped up thanks to the memes about it?

I am, because Sony will never again feel the need to put in any solid effort or planning for other movies like Kraven. And if they reboot Spider-Man again, those films will be a black mark on some actor's career, just like they did to Andrew Garfield.

Oh def, don't get me wrong I'm thrilled to get more of the characters we love, I'm just apprehensive after how they bungled up Luke's story in the latest trilogy.

Well, guess I was wrong to feel concerned. At least the Internet was generally smart enough to not buy tickets to the re-release.

  16. Huh, refs and DOPS actually doing a modestly good job these past couple of days. I don't expect it to last though.
  17. So with no more Canucks season after tomorrow, who will you support this playoffs and why? I'm going with Calgary. Still a fan of Tanev and happy that he hit career highs in games played and total points. Love him more than I hate any of the other Flames. Also Markstrom and Toffoli are there too, so that's nice.

Flames all the way. They've suffered for years in the pergatory of not being good enough for playoffs and not bad enough to draft high.

Definitely one of the Canadian teams, but not sure which one yet. Maybe Calgary ().

    4. The Lock

      The Lock

      2 trains of thought:

      - Florida (they've had such bad luck over the years they deserve whatever they can get)

      - A Canadian team (we're long past due for getting a cup on home soil)

  18. This season was lost thanks to Aquilini being Aquilini.
  19. They should shut Boeser down if possible, he's not contributing well enough to be on the squad, and I suspect it's because his nagging injuries are worse than anyone is letting on.
  20. Like others suggested, extension talks with Motte's agent must have gone south. This was likely the price NYR wouldn't budge from Would have liked a 3rd back, but this is the situation we're stuck with. Better something close to the ideal than nothing
  21. For those annoyed with the 1-hour leap forward, it could be worse...

  22. You're right about Boeser, my bad. The game-by-game stats after the coaching change definitely show him being a top line guy As for Petey, I'll be glad to eat crow with a side of cajun fries if he turns it around over the last 50 games, if only because I don't like to imagine the alternative.
