  1. The way I look at it is they will lose him to UFA at the end of next season if they do nothing. Might as well sell high .. this team has too many holes to be any sort of threat before his contract is up. I like the passion the guy brings to the game but sometimes you got to do the hard cold math.
  2. Poor guy has prob had that jersey for close to 30 years , showing up to games, and they are serving him this tripe.
  3. Team is a joke let’s give Benning a decade a resign Green
  4. I can’t think of another team that looks this bad. I haven’t watched the coyotes play… but it’s hard to imagine it’s worse than this
  5. i like the white board, we have one at work, we write random mumbo jumbo things on it and the boss thinks we are always busy...brainstorming...
  6. This sounds interesting! (and a genuinely kind offer) Im trying to think how id explain it to my wife Yeah...im going to a farm out in langley, to sit in a hot tub, dont know the guy but a guy named Alf might be there serving drinks...
  7. I just figured out what tik-tok was a week ago, now theres Jomboy? Back to my AM radio...
  8. i guess im looking at the roster and thinking how far away they are from being a legit contender. In my mind the current roster should have been able to outscore their problems on most nights. I think new coach might be able to turn this into a bubble roster, but is that good enough? Where are the biggest holes on the roster. In my mind its on D. At the end of the day either you draft a top pair d man to help fix the defence or you move a primary asset like Horvat, Miller, BB to fix it. I know its not a popular opinion but Miller is the one that doesnt fit in ...age wise...and if I had to bet on guy that would want to walk out of here when his contract is up it would be him. I liken this to the Bob McCammon situation. He was in Jack Adams conversations earlier in his tenure with the Canucks. Team started to under perform and he got canned by Pat Quinn who took over part way into the season.. Guess what, the team still sucked for the rest of the year because the roster had major holes in it. It wasnt till he traded a bunch of guys that it got better (and getting Bure didnt hurt either!) IMHO There are too many holes in the roster to expect a miracle from a new coach. Does Boudreau (or whover) turn Poolman and Myers into guys that dont cough up the puck? Does he make the bottom 3 d men into actual NHLcalibre dmen? Does he turn the 3c into a reliable shutdown forward? Does he turn the bottom 6 forwards into Gritty guys that can stick up for their team mates? I could be wrong...i guess we will see if./when they bring in a new coach with new ideas.
  9. in the grand scheme of things would it be better if they stay the course, fire everyone in the off season, and have a new GM aim for a 1c or top pair d man in the draft. High draft pick would be insurance incase EP turns out to be a 50-60 point guy at best...and even if the team turns out to be a bubble team I betcha Miller will walk for nothing if hes not dealt between now and the end of next hockey season. Not necessarily advocating this....just trying to think of the best long term solution for this mess.
  10. still early in the season but it’s not a good path to be on
  11. Hopefully they can green soon, let’s see what a new guy can do.
  12. I don’t think you are being unreasonable here. Maybe I’m wrong I don’t know. But I think we both agree a coaching change is definitely in order. but I’m worried the problem goes deeper. 3 of the d men that played tonight and at least 3 forwards wouldn’t be playing on good teams.
  13. It’s not just the coach heffy. I agree green is bad but look at our d. Look at our 3c, look at our toughness. this reminds me of bob mccammon. Team was losing part way through the season and Quinn fired him. Quinn replaced him behind the bench. They still sucked the rest of the year It wasn’t till they made multiple personnel changes till they turned it around in the next years. this goes deeper than the coach.
  14. Good post man. I have been watching for a long time too and I’m trying to recall how many times I’ve felt this disappointed and embarrassed. Maybe during the messier years and in 90/91. In the 80s I expected to lose with the power house Alberta teams in the division. And early in Bennings tenure ( up to 5 years in) I wasnt expecting much. imho this regime is out of excuses. They need a new management team and new coach
  15. Yeah I agree it’s not great but for the most part he was drafting in the 20s where it’s more of a crap shoot . I suspect he would have some good picks if he had the luxury of drafting in the top quarter of the first two rounds for 5 or more years
  16. If rather they pull Gillis out of wherever he’s golfing…
