  1. Any examples of good NHL players who have played in two chl leagues? Just found out Tye McGinn played in the QMJHL and OHL

  2. true, Biega was horrible out there, was actually really surprised when he looked good this season.... Except for Biega, it was against nhl/ahl players in the preseason.
  3. The nhl 16 trailer has Ferland crunching Bieksa to the boards. Lol

  5. Of course you wouldn't want him to be injured as much as Booth. That's like saying Salo is a horrible comparison to a young dman because he was injured alot. Usually people dont like the comparison because of the following -shot: agree, jake's shot is much better -injuries: agree but nothing you can do about that -speed: agree if you're talking about the Booth after the lockout. Injuries really slowed him down. Booth prior to injury was very fast and only slightly slower than Virtanen. -mean streak: agree. -physicality: Other than his first season here Booth averaged around two hits a game. Booth does hit pretty hard as well, Jake is more consistent though. Basically the differences are minor(just shot and mean streak), they still play similar. So combine pre injury Booth's offensive ability and post injury Booth's physicality and you have a solid powerforward. Wouldn't mind Jake getting around 60 pts a season while maintaining at least 2 hits a game. However, I still think Kreider is the best comparison. Do not like the Carter or Perry comparisons.
  6. thats the thing, he can play a fourth line role but why do that if we have Kenins who plays a similar style? Would love to see him play in the nhl but I would think that dominating in the dub would give him more confidence to come back to the Canucks as a bigger offensive threat.
  7. i agree. People also seem to forget how fast Booth was before his ankle and knee injuries, was actually surprised at how slow he looked when coming back last year. When Booth is on his game he hits hard. I remember his first game back in 2013 he looked like Volpatti, hitting everything in sight. Booth's shot isnt as good though so there's that. I guess when people think of Booth they think of his play with Tortorella.
  8. david booth was never bad defensively, just not great. He played pk for Florida as well.
  9. I think he could step up to the nhl next year, but it would be best if he dominatwd in juniors rather than play a lesser role here in Vancouver as a bottom 6 banger that can chip in goals. They already have Kenins for that. Maybe get his confidence up next year by scoring a couple more goals.
  10. Ted 8/10 Been wanting to watch this ever since it came out, pretty funny.
  11. Jake Virtanen wears gloves when playing ice hockey.
  12. Congrats Garrison on making it to the finals.

  16. Basically this. A Flames fan on this board was banned for trying to justify Baertschi and Gaudreau as prospects last year.... This year Gaudreau scored a few goals to eliminate the team and Baertschi is now on our team as a highly touted prospect. Dont get cdc sometimes.
  17. I dont know why, but I havent been as high on him as everyone else (maybe because some Canucks fans used to bash him here) but I think he would be a great linemate for Virtanen. Both work well off the rush and could benefit from one another.... Sorta like Naslund and Bertuzzi.
  18. wow, hes just blowing past guys there. Crushed Khaira, the guy who seemed to contain and win puck battles against Kassian on the wall in last years preseason game. Jake looks great out there. Side note; Shinkaruk's looking good too. Backchecked a few times and didnt look that lost defensively compared to the preseason games. Also, his skating looks great, much better than i've seen this year. His hip must be fully recovered.
  19. Virtanen is by far the more consistent hitter if you're comparing his junior game to Kassian's current nhl game. You have to remember though that Kassian was a beast physically in juniors and his first few years with the Canucks.... He had 40 hits in 17 games in 2012 despite playing under 10 minutes a game alot of the time. Recently Kassian has only seemed to hit consistently when angry or having a good game. Alot of the times, Kassian seems to go a few games with very little to no hits and some games (seems to happen against Nashville, Buffalo, and Pittsburgh for some reason) where he looks like an absolute beast and ends up with at least 6 hits. Virtanen, however, is more like a consistent 3 hits per game type of guy. If we're talking about intimidation and aggression/mean streak, Kassian always brings that, but Virtanen isn't that soft, just cant pull some of the mean crap Kassian does because he isnt as big. Hopefully Virtanen stays consistent physically and as it looks right now, i think he will.
  20. How did you feel when Fraser was ripping it for the Canucks in the young stars tourney.... Only to be signed by Dallas, aa the Canucks were out of space.
  21. yeah ive noticed that with Jensen. Last season he tried to do too much himself, lost the puck and played rattled the whole game after that.
  22. let me know as well, love gossip.
  23. I know Christian as well, went to the same high/elementary school as him. Exciting news! Real nice guy as well
  24. Exactly what I saw in his play in the preseason. Although he reminded me almost exactly of the Pahlsson that was here in Vancouver in the 2013 preseason, he was younger at the time. Positionally sound, stopping scoring chances and scored random goals due to good positioning.
