  1. As Shane Malloy said: " [...] what does it cost, gentlemen, to get a potential top pairing D-man that can run a [play]? At the NHL level? In trades or free agency? You'd have to sell your children-- that price is ridiculous [...] so if you can draft one? Draft one, and bring him along slowly" There is a real chance a D-man gets selected by Dallas or Colorado.
  2. Hmm kind of variable. 1. Hischier 2. Patrick 3. Mittelstadt 4. Vilardi 5. Heiskanen 6. Tippett 7. Glass 8. Necas 9. Makar 10. Pettersson
  3. I'm not getting too optimistic about this draft. I've always been optimistic - Ehlers, Boeser (worked out!), Dubois... I mean, okay, my guy for this year is Mittelstadt. If Mittelstadt or Vilardi aren't available at #5, I'd simply say trade down to a 7-15 slot and select Elias Pettersson. Get the most value out of that pick and get some extra assets and/or draft picks back. Pettersson is the go-to if Mittelstadt and Vilardi are gone because, otherwise, anybody chosen at that 5 spot could be considered a "reach." Pettersson is an excellent hockey player that has the smarts, competitiveness, and individual skills that can't be taught. You can control only so much but you can't control a player's drive/work ethic or attitude. That makes him coachable and a player that'd be able to slide into the system with ease. Pettersson checks all those boxes - and he's played with Dahlén. Give him a couple years and he'll be golden.
  4. and with that the Canucks just told us who they're going to draft... maybe? Elias Pettersson? Dahlen's linemate?

  5. ..hey at least he's good at Kalinin up loose pucks

I mean really, If you don't have a good celly, can you really be that good of a hockey player? If i'm a scout, and you got have a bad celly, pass...

  9. Lol this again (also... you can't avoid the plague, it always catches up to you)
  10. Stuff like that depends on the line he's put with and whether there's a more viable center. It's all about roles, if they want him playing his dominant two-way game, he's a center. If they want him attacking, he's a winger. I haven't been too impressed with his strength in the circle and ability to win faceoffs, though.
  11. Personally, I would much rather see what we have in our back pocket with Travis Green. Julien is an incredible coach, and there's good reason to believe he'll be a great coach in the future, but is he really the right guy for the Canucks who are in this period of transition? Travis Green could definitely do some good with the younger guys.

  13. Pettersson plays a similar game to John Tavares. Some of the guys in Sweden like comparing him to Rodin, because Rodin is kind of a stud name over there. Pettersson is a complete hockey player with an abundant amount of offensive tools and a knack for the defensive game. He could have one of the highest ceilings in the draft if developed properly.
  14. Mittelstadt because there really isn't anybody better at that spot. Mittelstadt is one of the best players in the draft, he's electric and consistent in all three zones. There's no way I'm passing on Mittelstadt if there's even the slightest chance of getting him.
  15. Most painful memory? Sitting behind a guy who threw his beer back at me, missed, hit my girlfriend - who then preceded to hit me for taking her to this "goddamn hockey game." Bruises. Many. Bruises.
