    After 80 hours of no power, this family of 5 is grateful for the hard work the Hydro crews are doing.

      Hey Merry Christmas...totally feel for you and your family.....good ending!

       

      My 93 year old Mom was without power in Chemainus from about Noon Thursday until 730 pm. tonite (Sunday)

      @Type R was in Cedar/Yellow Point/North Oyster when the storm hit. You're not kidding about Yellow Point. It got smoked, so did Cowichan. So did a lot of places. We've been without power since Thursday morning and according to BC Hydro there's "no current estimate as to its return".

       

      This is a different kind of Christmas. Today I'll head to my mom's to empty her fridge and freezer of all the food, salvage what I can, and take the rest to the dump. 

       

      At least we all have somewhere warm to stay when some truly do not. 

       

      This storm was &^@#ed.

      @janisahockeynut, did she make it through ok?  The surrounding islands are a concern, Pender got hit hard, it sounds like Saltspring is coming around, Galiano is also down from what I heard.

       

      @Green Building You are right about this one being different.  I was pleasantly surprised with how my kids reacted.  They love their screen time, but managed very well without it.  They came together, found games to play and looked after each other.  I've noticed though, people are far friendlier, chattier and genuinely concerned with each others well being.
