Not the first period of my off-season dreams, but hockey is still back! Go Canucks Go!

Player thoughts: - Pettersson has 65 points but doesn't win Calder. - Bo and Boeser start slow in October and November. Take off from December on. Both post 60+ point totals. - Our D, being the same 8 as last year, suck miserably. This forces some trades from JB. Hoping 2/8 get traded for decent assets. - Virtanen starts hot but cools off scoring a still good 40ish points. - The vet forwards, new and old, do something useful this year. Looking at you Loui. - Goldobin sticks full time scoring 18 goals on the 2nd line. - OJ doesn't play a single NHL game this year. Next year makes team. - Gaudette plays last month+ after deadline. Plays in a callup role till then. Team thoughts: - Finish 2nd to last or dead last in league. I just don't see any improvement here. All focus from other teams will be on Boeser, Horvat and Pettersson with Sedins gone, making it tough for them. - WIN THE F'ING LOTTERY (serious hope here). Draft Hughes. Get another 1st rounder somewhere. - Team changes logo again next year. League Thoughts: - Laine wins Rocket Richard - McJesus wins Hart and Art Ross - McKinnon wins Lady Byng - Hedman wins Norris - Jones wins Vezina - Crosby wins Ted Lindsay - Rick Tocchet wins Jack Adams (Coyotes make the playoffs) -Erik Karlsson wins Conn Smythe (assuming he plays how he used to) - Predators win Presidents - Sharks win Campbell - Lightning win Wales - Sharks win Stanley Cup. Jumbo Joe and Burns shave their beards on ice while celebrating with the cup then ride horses nude into an artificial sunset while ESPN photographs the event.

I think Calgary wants to keep him. Bennet probably doesn't want to stay now, but has no leverage is all I meant with that

Additionally, this makes me happy as a Canucks fan. Seems Linden and Benning are finally learning and staying the course and not trading the future for immediate young help whether they be under 24 or not. Grow from the draft and be frugal in trades/free agency. Hamilton and Hanafin traded means Severson last of the links to Canucks. That said, for the right price I'd take him. A D of Hughes, Severson, Juolevi, Woo, Tryamkin and Stecher/Pouliot/Hutton in a couple years seems good to me (assuming prospects pan out and Tryamkin comes back)

Truth. Thanks for adding that. Flames don't need Bennett and will probably get a good return for him. Monahan, Lindholm, Backlund and Jankowsi is a formidable center rotation anywhere in the league.

Honestly i hate Calgary but this is a solid trade for both teams. Hanifin = or close to Hamilton. Lindholm>>>>>>Ferland and Fox Lindholm is a win for Calgary. He shores up the top 6 behind Monahan. Hanifin and Hamilton more or less wash out. Hamilton more offense, Hanafin better defence. For the roster Calgary has, this is a win. I would expect an "18 yr old" Sam Bennett trade soon. He won't want to be a bottom 6 center. Lindholm and Monahan are better than he is.

I agree and don't expect either to truly reach their potential. However, everyone always says D-men don't reach their prime or full potential until 27. Pouliot is 24, if he keeps progressing as well as he did this season (compared to previous years in PIT), I can see him still reaching his offensive potential.

Not upset about this but not ecstatic. Pettersson has the chance to be an extremely good player.

There is no generational talent in this draft but I am maybe more excited for this year than years past. It can go any which way for players beyond Patrick/Hischier and trades seem to be more likely this year. Will be fun to watch/follow. That said I hope we wind up with Glass/Vilardi/Pettersson at 5.

Did anyone play the Division open beta? What were your impressions? I have been excited then disappointed then excited then disappointed again in this game and didnt have free time this weekend to play the beta. Not sure what to think right now so looking for anyones input on it. The rest of the interwebz seemed mixed (maybe more positive) on the beta's.

Sliding into second to eliminate a double play he caught his head on the jumping 2nd basemans knee. He also hit his knee pretty hard on the bag. I'm at a bar so can't hear any updates on what it actually is. If concussion then... Damn

Despite not really doing much we've managed to get his count up pretty good. Should be out by end of 6 if we can do it again in the 6th. Then we can beat up their bullpen (hopefully)
