My cats been pretty sick recently. I'm quite looking forward to wrapping her in a blanket and watching the game tonight. She loves hockey, it's the only time I'll sit still with her for any extended amount of time.

Hopefully cuddles and a Canucks win helps your cat bounce back to good health =)

I left Vancouver for Florida in December on a work visa, and now am getting a green card. The opportunities down south are endless. Home prices are attainable for younger families. And before you go and spout off about "free healthcare" realize that your income tax dollars pay for your healthcare back home. I can definitely see why players would want to stay in the US. Oh, and Canada has its fair share of shootings too, so don't even go there.

You may have to hand out my resume for me. Affordable living, always warm and I think the panthers season tickets are still under $2k for ice level

Backscrub will be injured come the TDL. He’s old. He’s slow. He’s craperolla!
    And Calgary stinks.

Lol the Dome smell is just the horse craperolla that they use to heat the building I've gotten use to it after 3 years .

I agree he's a bit overrated and at this point in his career a 3rd liner on a good team.

But a top 6 of Mangepane, Pelletier, Dube, Garland would even make Montreal seem like giants

  4. I think it would be sufficient to go for a mid line skate  that you find comfortable to be honest. They may only be a few grams heavier but save $200-300. They are also not as stiff which can be a preference.

I may have bought Toffoli's skates from a certain rival team's s locker room sale. The only difference that I found is that they feel lighter than my skates from 10 years ago and I can lean into the skate much more during games.

  5. Went with Pod, just because you know what you are getting. At the very least he will be a career grinder type player but the potential of being a top 6.

Hogs, I feel like he is our most boom or bust prospect. The games I watched in the AHL, he is normally the best player on the ice. He has Marchand-like antics which can throw off the other teams but he has also cost a few games due to ultimately penalties. Needs to learn to traverse the grey areas better

Bains  sadly i haven't paid much attention to but a feel good story of a player earning every minute he gets

I remember there being a weird narrative that Jake was too good for the CHL even though he hadn't yet been above 1PPG. I also don't think he looked that good in preseason during his rookie year. While I do wonder if things would have gone better had he spent another year in the CHL plus one in the AHL, ultimately it was his attitude and lack of maturity that was his biggest downfall.

McCann on the other hand did have a very good preseason and I think played his way onto the roster, but clearly he wasn't quite ready for a full season and also should have been given another year in the CHL to develop.

I do wonder if Jake was kept up partially because management didn't like the optics of McCann making the team before Jake.

I think the narrative was that he wouldn't learn that much playing a powerforward game pushing around 16 year olds. *edit I forgot about the Hitmen handling him improperly too* I never liked the pick since I was hoping for Ehlers and he looked unmotivated when I saw him play twice against the Ice Caps. I had my fair share of brown bags thrown at me when people defended him "put him on with the Sedins, his value is in the playoffs, powerforwards take longer to develop"

I feel optics definitely played a part. McCann played great during the preseason and deserved staying up for 10-20 games. But how do you send down a player drafted 6th before the player drafted 24th in the same draft?

  7. I feel like this could get exploited easily by the deep pocket teams (New York/Toronto)

Example if Kane thinks he only has 3 years left, New York could offer $7 million x5 years with the under the table agreement he will be bought out at 3. Vs a small market team offering $10 million by 3

No cap penalty and $14 million would be a rounding error to some of these owners. Especially if it brings home a championship

  8. The question is, who gets to decide what is bannable/worthy of fines.

Even on CDC we have users referring to Russians as "orcs" or calling people from Alberta "inbred". Why are these remarks deemed safe to say?

I am all for calling out racists or hateful people but it's a slippery slope if we start fining people for speech unless it's a call to action for violence. (" fire" in a crowded room, "I'll pay you $100 to hurt that person")

  9. I wouldn't do it. Quick has already accomplished everything you can do as a goalie. Unless he needs the game to have his name on the cup

You don't want to give the other team any fuel or motivation to be used against you. Throwing in a backup for no reason is basically saying that you already know that you are winning the cup. Look at how Boston rallied against us after the pregame cup celebration rumors

Not a chance. 99% of those outside of Vancouver, including the media, were all out against us so f**k em!

Only 11% of Canadians were actively cheering for the Bruins. Canada isn't out to get us other than Alberta and possibly Nova Scotia cheering on their local product Marchand

Sure the viewership of 43% paying attention is a bit disappointing.

wouldn't it be great if tonight's must win game was FREE so all Canuck fans could watch and cheer on the farm club!?!? It is too bad we don't have a bigger media outlet out west that would be willing to provide coverage of the games and broadcast them...

Hoping for the best tonight, Go Canucks Go!!!

Same I am suprised there hasn't been more media coverage. I bought the AHLTV package and this has easily been the best series so far. Every whistle seems to have some sort of scrum and the 12 regular season games quickly made a bitter rivalry.

Maybe I am a bit biased since if the Wranglers win, I get to see more live games in Calgary. If Canucks win I get to see our prospects develop from a Calder run

  12. Not really suprised to see Sutter go. The team just felt stale and no chemistry. Plus the reluctance on playing their prospects in favor of Lucic, Lewis and some degree Markstrom rubbed the Cowtown faithful in the wrong way.

If huberdeau is going to be the 10.5 million guy, they need a coach that will play to his strengths. I am guessing Love takes over after being head coach of the year in the AHL 2 times in a row and a potential Calder cup run

Abby knocked the Oiler AHL team out and now move on to the Flames. Prediction: Abby in 4 games. MVP Wolanin.

Yeah Wolanin is solid and really controls the play. Plus it's easy to see with the eye test that Hogs is a NHL regular. I still believe it will take all 5 games.

Tas if only my spare seat wasn't already claimed, it would have been fun cheering on the Nucks with you.

  14. It's funny how I was hoping these 2 teams will match up in the playoffs. While the Canucks have a 4-8 record, they have been playing so well lately. Here is my cowtown scouting report:

I could see the Canucks winning if they get bodies in front of Wolf. He is an elite goalie, but shots seem to always find a way to bounce in during traffic. Laterally he is one of the best that I have ever seen.

Phillips a high skill tweener, however has been a bit inconsistent after sitting in the Flames press box. Doesn't seem to do well against physical teams like Ontario/Henderson.

Duehr - My favorite Wrangler, plays a similar high skill pest game like Bunting.

Poirier- high skilled rookie defenceman, but has had his defensive gaffs

  15. I don't understand the whining  that 'Canada is out to get us' "The Ipsos Reid survey released today (June 1) found 62 percent of Canadians want Vancouver to win while 11 percent support the rival Boston Bruins. Twenty-seven percent have no opinion."

    Anyways back to the poll

I like the Jets Sens and Flame,

Neutral on Leafs and Oilers (it is just so fun to cheer against a room full of them)

    Absolutely dispise Habs
