    On the topic of taking on bad contracts to gain assets, what about bailing the Wild out of Zach Parise’s contract? He’s 33 and he has 5 years left at over $7.5 million.

      @Pears - we don't have cap trouble next year, but we will start seeing cap trouble in the next 3-5 years as our rookies come off their ELCs. Parise is only going to get worse, and if we're trying to compete for a cup in 3-5 years (that's when Bo is at his peak and players like Pettersson, Boeser, etc. are entering their prime), we will want that cap space to get complimentary pieces for cup runs - not sitting in a 38 year old Parise.

      Right idea, but I don't think a 5 year contract at that price is something we should be looking to pick up. I'm willing to weaponize the cap space, but I wouldn't want to commit to something for over 3 years.

      Rather take on a one or two year deal isntead of taking on the league's worst contract. Plus he has a NMC so he can't be traded.

      I don’t think we could get as much value for a 1 year contract as opposed to a 2-3+ year contract.
