This movie is the purpose of my life tbh.

  2. Another reason I’m starting to lean towards BT is if we pass on another Tkachuk and he pans out for someone else, people are gonna want Benning’s head. And quite frankly I don’t want a repeat of 2016.

Any one of Dahlin, Svechnikov, Zadina, Tkachuk, Bouchard, Dobson, Hughes, Boqvist, Wahlstrom would be awesome. I've heard that Brady doesn't have the speed & vision of his brother and I would take any of the above dmen over Juolevi so I wouldn't be too upset if we passed on him.

People really underestimate Brady here. We would be lucky if he falls to six. But if boqvist is there we have to snag him.

  3. Eh, I’d rather see them blow another 4-1 lead in an elimination game.
  4. On the topic of taking on bad contracts to gain assets, what about bailing the Wild out of Zach Parise’s contract? He’s 33 and he has 5 years left at over $7.5 million.

@Pears - we don't have cap trouble next year, but we will start seeing cap trouble in the next 3-5 years as our rookies come off their ELCs. Parise is only going to get worse, and if we're trying to compete for a cup in 3-5 years (that's when Bo is at his peak and players like Pettersson, Boeser, etc. are entering their prime), we will want that cap space to get complimentary pieces for cup runs - not sitting in a 38 year old Parise.

Right idea, but I don't think a 5 year contract at that price is something we should be looking to pick up. I'm willing to weaponize the cap space, but I wouldn't want to commit to something for over 3 years.

    3. Baer.

      Baer.

Rather take on a one or two year deal isntead of taking on the league's worst contract. Plus he has a NMC so he can't be traded.

I don’t think we could get as much value for a 1 year contract as opposed to a 2-3+ year contract.

  5. Krejci would be interesting. If we draft Tkachuk and Pettersson is ready for the 2RW spot he could be a perfect fit. Thing is, I’m not sure what he’d cost. What about something like Tanev and a 2nd for Krejci, JFK, and Gabrielle?
  6. I never thought I would, but I’m really starting to warm up to Tkachuk at 6. He can most likely come in and play next year and he and Pettersson on the same line would be a treat to watch.

If we'd taken M. Tkachuk over Juolevi in 2016, how would our organization be right now? We'd have more goals, and more grit (and more suspensions) but our D pipeline in likely top 4 D would be empty.

Our 2011 team almost won the cup without a true number 1 D but 4 bonafide top 4 D (Erhroff, Edler, Hamhuis, Bieksa). Even if Juolevi never projects to be a number 1 or 2, having top 4 D is important.

We have potential top 6 wingers coming in Dahlen, Lind, and Gadjovich, in addition to Boeser, Baertschi, and free agency.

I'd rather have Juolevi in the pipeline than M. Tkachuk on the roster.

(I'd rather have Sergachev or McAvoy instead of Juolevi but that's hindsight and a different matter entirely)

      @Where's Wellwood

I don't think bear cheese will be on this team in the long run. Gadj is prob a 3rd liner. Lind is meh but we'll see. Dahlen hopefully is top 6; im excited for him.

      Boeser is the flow.

We all talk in absolutes. Ohh bpa, blah x3...

Yet Boston had THREE 1st's in 2015, & missed Boeser AND Barzal ! But hey..is it killing them?

There are so many ways good teams get assembled. Drafting, development, patience & good ol' DUMB luck all seem to play their part.

  7. NFL thread

My top 5 options for the Bengals at 21: 1: James Daniels 2: Mike McGlinchey 3: Will Hernandez 4: Rashaan Evans 5: Lamar Jackson Interesting that the Broncos are open to trading 5. What would it take to get that pick?
  8. I want Hughes so bad next year but at the same time I don’t think I could handle another year of tanking.

Right now this is how I see this years line up:

      Trade Baertschi, Tanev, Hutton, Granlund

      Buyout Eriksson

      ____ - Horvat - Boeser

      Goldobin - ____ - Pettersson

      Leipsic - Sutter - Virtanen

      Gaunce - Gagner - Archibald

      Edler - ____

      Juolevi - Gudbranson

      Pouliot - Stecher

      Markstrom

      Nilsson

Right now, if we can add a couple of good scoring free agents, that’s not looking too bad. Kinda sucks there isn’t a top end center available this draft.

    3. Mathew Barzal

      Mathew Barzal

      @Pears

Goldobin and a rookie making up our second line? Unless that blank center mark is Tavares that line will be absolutely destroyed every shift.

@Mathew Barzal I think the potential skill of that line could mask some of the issues it may face.

  9. (Proposal) Canucks-Stars

I think Dallas would rather hold on to Spezza for the last year of his contract than give up a valuable pick and/or prospect to get rid of him.
  10. Jeez Anaheim really 8-1 last night
  11. Jets finished 6th before the lottery 2 years ago and ended up with Laine. Just sayin’

    1. coastal.view

      coastal.view

well the jets do not have the canuck's history of luck

      in the drafting departiment

no other team really does i think

the jets do have a history of always losing to the canucks in the playoffs though

      just saying :P

Re draft. Id probably take Laine over Mathews.

  12. Did he suggest bringing in players 25 and under via free agency though? He didn’t.
  13. This is a good point. Although, Tavares would be an exception to this. He’s only 27, and how often do superstars get to free agency?
  14. You do realize they have to re-sign Matthews, Nylander and Marner within the next two years right? They need at least one top 2-4 RD as well. 0 room for Tavares.
