  1. Good God this man is so stupid it's painful to watch. The United States has a $400 million dollar dairy trade trade surplus with Canada and he's bitching about 1 type of milk product. https://www.thestar.com/opinion/editorials/2017/04/23/trump-is-wrong-about-dairy-protectionism-but-canada-should-still-scrap-it-editorial.html
  2. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, who accompanied the president into the reception, said that the "countervailing duty" would be retroactive 90 days. He said that was when Canada was warned to stop subsidizing their lumber industry. The countervailing duty is meant to offset the subsidy. "They were on notice," he said.
  3. While Le Pen has a chance, she doesn't have much of a chance. Her support is all in rural areas. She did quite well in southern France. In Paris she garnered just 5% of the vote. Turn out was nothing special which is a negative for Le Pen. Pollsters pretty much nailed the first round to a tee and Le Pen is polling 38% to Macron's 62% for stage 2 on May 7. Fillon has conceded and endorsed Macron. Melenchon has not endorsed anyone yet but he's the polar opposite of Le Pen, so he ain't endorsing her. Le Pen's platform is radical to say the least. She wants to withdraw from the EU and NATO as well, and (correct me if I am wrong) curtail all immigration. A Le Pen victory would signal the death of the EU. If France leaves, Italy would surely leave. Then you'd have a union that only included 1 of the 5 largest European nations (Germany). It would be without France, UK, Italy and Switzerland. It would basically be Germany "and friends" and I doubt many of the remaining nations are all that thrilled about being friends with Germany (financially speaking that is). Financial markets are thrilled with this outcome. France's market is having it's best day since 2012 +4.2%. The Euro currency hit it's highest level since last November.
  4. Jiri Slegr's old man Jiri Bubla had some decent years for the Canucks in the 80's. No love for Garth Butcher? He was our Bieksa of the 80's. From his Wiki page ..............."Butcher played an aggressive style and earned a reputation as a classic "needler" who distracted opponents or provoked them into taking penalties. In 1989, Gerard Gallant of the Detroit Red Wings was suspended five games for retaliating and deliberately attempting to injure Butcher." Haaaaaaarolllllllld Snepts Sami Salo. Back when our PP was consistently over 20%. Man those were the days. Oh yeah Jyrki Lumme.
  5. Man plotted to bomb Target to buy company's tanked stock Authorities allege Mark Barnett built at least 10 bombs, paid a man to place them in stores The Associated Press Posted: Feb 17, 2017 12:09 AM ET Federal prosecutors say a Florida man planned to blow up several Target stores along the East Coast in an attempt to cheapen stock in the company. The Orlando Sentinel reports 48-year-old Mark Charles Barnett of Ocala is charged with possession of a firearm (destructive device) affecting commerce by a previously convicted felon. Barnett is a registered sex offender in Florida. The U.S. Department of Justice filed a complaint alleging Barnett built at least 10 explosive devices and paid another man to place the bombs on store shelves. Officials say the other man instead went to authorities. The complaint says Barnett thought the explosions would cause Target stock prices to drop, allowing him to buy cheap shares in the company before it rebounded. If convicted, Barnett faces up to 10 years in prison. http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/target-store-bomb-plot-1.3987474 ****************************** Jokes on him. If he wanted cheap Target stock all he had to do was wait 11 days until they reported their next quarterly earnings and tanked 18%.
  6. Jason Herter was hyped like he was the second coming of Jesus. He managed to play a grand total of 1 NHL game and that wasn't even for us.
  7. When your only high lite is getting kicked in the head, I doubt it.
  8. If you care about your team and your team mates do you show up out of shape and then refuse a conditioning stint? To me that reeks of entitlement. I do think you're right about him preferring Russia. He's signed with his home city and can be close to family, friends etc.
  9. Well this certainly sucks big time. 22 year olds shouldn't be bitching about ice time. The last 22 year old we had who bitched about his ice time was Cody Hodgson. He bounced out of the league. As sad as I am to lose him and his potential. You cannot have guys with his "me first" attitude in your locker room. They are a cancer. I guess now we can stop with all the Tanev trade threads.
  10. So long Bill.
  11. His agent says he wouldn't have killed himself. Which would have to imply foul play. The guy was implicated in up to 7 murders.
  12. Apparently "grabbing them by the p***y" is like Fight Club. It's OK to do it, but just don't talk about it.
  13. The Pu jokes are nothing compared to this.
  14. Aaron Hernandez commits suicide, officials say (CNN) Aaron Hernandez, the former New England Patriots star who was convicted of murder, was found hanged Wednesday morning in the Massachusetts prison where he was serving a life sentence, officials said. The death of Hernandez, 27, comes just days after he was acquitted in a separate murder case. Hernandez "was discovered hanged in his cell by corrections officers at the Souza Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley Massachusetts at approximately 3:05 a.m.," the Massachusetts Department of Correction said. "Lifesaving techniques were attempted on Mr. Hernandez and he was transported to UMASS Leominster, where he was pronounced dead at 4:07 a.m. by a physician at the hospital. "Mr. Hernandez was in a single cell in a general population housing. Mr. Hernandez hanged himself utilizing a bed sheet that he attached to his cell window. Mr. Hernandez also attempted to block his door from the inside by jamming the door with various items. "The Massachusetts State Police are on scene and the investigation continues. Mr. Hernandez's next of kin have been notified." http://www.cnn.com/2017/04/19/us/aaron-hernandez-suicide/index.html?
