I am reading what you wrote and sure he played stupid so what ! Others did make the same mistake re watch the game! Why are you harping on it! It is not as bad as you are making it. He punched a kid in the head after the whistle for being too close to his goalie. How often do ref call two penalties on the same player when one is already being called? Learning what all his penalties were different in different situations. Sure he did not play smart, but you and many others are over blowing the facts.

I don't think the poster has the same view as you about JV potential or that he was no where near the best player available. He just saying he needs more time and simply not ready.

JV is forcing plays and not letting them develop, he needs to let the play come to him by playing his game. He is never going to be the key guy in making plays, but he sure the hell could be the guy that causes turn overs with his heavy board game, get garbage goal by heavy net presence and snipe of the rush with his speed and shot. He needs a good play making center and a winger who likes to go to the net, to fight for rebounds, as JV likes to put the puck on net off a rush a good percentage of the time.

"I just really didn't want to fall, to be honest with you," he said. Making his first-career start because of injuries to UND's two scholarship goalies -- Matej Tomek and Cam Johnson -- Hrynkiw stopped 19 shots, including 17 in a row to end the game. On the other end, Hrynkiw watched Drake Caggiula rack up a four-point game and linemate Brock Boeser record the first freshman hat trick since T.J. Oshie a decade ago en route to the win. "No one deserves it more than he does," Caggiula said of Hrynkiw's first-career win. "He's here every day early, stays late and works hard every day. When you talk about the North Dakota culture, he's the first guy you think of on our team. He's doing all the extra things. We wanted to win it for him." Jack showed a lot of maturity playing in AHL , this is the main reason he has a high chance of starting the year on the Canucks forth line.

If Virtanen reaches his full potential he will develop somewhere along the lines of a : Wayne Simmonds, Dustin Brown, Andrew Ladd, and/or Corey Perry. If Virtanen is unable to reach his full potential I see him develop along the lines of a bigger meaner : Matt Cooke, Steve Ott , and/or Steve Downie,

Go back and re-read your post unlike your response above your first post had little logic in it; when you start in out with the word "bust" ! The simple truth is anyone picked could be a bust for any number of reasons. I would have liked Nylander or Ehlers , but I have enough logic to understand taking Virtanen. The upside of these three players is very different for many different reasons. Nylander will be the best playmaker of the three maybe Henrick Sedin like. Ehlers could be the most exciting goal scorer of the bunch, All three can skate like the wind, but who is the fastest? Virtanen has tools that both the other two will never have and everyone knows them. Simple truth you can use all the number crunching you like until they play in the NHL you do not know who will produce and who will not. I'm a numbers guy myself , but I do realize the numbers will never tell the whole story too many other factors to look at.

Look at Virtanen's total assists for both the regular season, playoffs, and tournaments. The kid can sent up goals but he is a shoot first player. His hockey IQ should not be a concern.

Virtanen was not my number one pick, but I do have the intelligence to see why a GM would pick him at 6th overall: 1) Speed - rated number one by most scouts ( Nylander and Ehler also rated the fastest by some scouts) 2) Physical - rated number one by most scouts ( Ritchie also top physical player by one or two scouts) 3) Rated best shot ( speed and accuracy) ( Ehler and Ritchie also rated as the best by some scouts) 4) Size - one of the biggest forwards in the draft that has top six skill potential. 5) Has all the intangibles to be a classic power-forward. 6) If potential is not reached has the tools to be a very good checking shutdown forward. Question marks: 1) Only negative against Virtanen is Hockey IQ or vision because of low assist totals. Vision and or hockey IQ are also needed in an elite level to score goals. You have to have the vision to know where to go to receive the pass, and have the vision to know when to start the rush up the ice and read the play again to get in the sweet spot to get the one timer off. So really the only concern about Virtanen is using the players around him more. There is more to like about Virtanen then not, and as a bonus he is from BC (which had little to do with him being drafted). Is he the most skilled, No. Does he have skills that could considered top 5 in his draft class, Yes. - Shot and skating. Does he Have intangibles that could considered top 5 in his draft class, Yes. - Size. physicality,compete level, and fitness. People have to think before making the kid sound like a pick that was way off the board, especially after most mock drafts had the Canucks taking him at 6th and almost every analyst had the same results. Reasoning skills on the forum are seriously lacking, some 10 years have better reasoning skills. Happy to have you Virtanen even if I whated one of Ehlers or Nylander. I can see arguments for all three, because they all bring something different.

I read this forum about once a week or more and the same handful of posters are always posting, so the actual percentage of actual canucks fans posting negative comments about the Canucks is so small that it unbelievable anyone would think any of these comments would have any effect on the team. Now if you are concerned about the negative stories written by reporters outside this forum, then maybe there should be some concern. In most part players are unconcerned about all the hype around a teams fan base. For some players it a good thing coming to a hockey market where the fans are passionate about their team negative or positive( it shows they care).

What make sense: 1) The east is all about trying to report false claims about the Canucks to destroy the Canucks Team. 2) Until Kesler says he does not want to play for the team, it impossible he does not. 3) Every poster on this forum that has anything negative to say about a Canuck player is a problem for the teams future. Just like the dislike of possible false claims the OP is venting about he is doing the same putting together false claims. The only thing about his post that makes sense is the judgement of players and how unfair a good percentage of fans can be towards them, but this to be found in any fans base of any sport.
