Honestly, I’m a Pearson fan but this is about the best case scenario for a cap dump. We’ve upgraded backup goalie, moved out enough to be cap compliant, and moved out one of the 763 active wingers on our roster. Not bad.
I also liked Pearson, I think he was one of the few who would engage in battles along the boards, but I think the cap was also an issue that needed to be addressed.

He doesn't want to get fooled that some mid-wildcard team is a contender, he's not fully committed to the Canucks at this point.

Suter is versatile, he was solid in Detroit as 3C.

I again need to seriously emphasize this.
Does Hronek NOT have to play like a full season for us to be considered a top 4 D?
Look at the issues with the "upper body"
That is all the same shoulder. Labelling him as the best RHD since Bieksa or a top 4 D because he managed to put up more than 35 points for the first time in his career is a bit insane and seriously jumping the gun. one could just as easuly label it as Yzerman won a trade selling damaged goods. neither is true at this stage. Just....chill on the expectations I guess
I remember the Myers love when he was signed. I remember VERY well how important it was for people to believe we had a true minute munching top 4 D.
How'd that work out?
Maybe just temper those expectations kids.
That's why Detroit wants to get rid of him, I hope he is healthy to play

Should have traded him for a second round pick

Farm team will miss Hoglander, easily the best in the playoffs last year.

I felt he deserved more. Vancouver has not rebounded since they let him go.

I don't think Pettersson is a slam dunk to re-sign in Vancouver if we don't show him we can build a competitive team and actually shoot for the playoffs. He has already come out and said he wants to win. He's ultra competitive and if Vancouver continues to miss the playoffs, I envision he will ask to be traded. And then, Hughes will follow shortly after.
Pettersson doesn't give me the same loyalty vibes as the Sedin brothers or even Naslund. And... there's nothing wrong with that. Players want to win and they aren't expected to take a discount all the time. Both Quinn and Pettersson are in the prime of their careers, and if they don't see progress being made, I think both are likely gone.

exactly, they basically signed 3/4 of a 1st unit PK today.

I'm really happy to be not disappointed like last year's first-round selection. but not having that 2nd round pick hurt, there were a lot of good players in that round that could help this team for years to come

A number 1 RHD has a much higher ceiling than almost any winger in the league, good pick
-
A 3C, top 4 LHD & RHD, Myers gone & 1 more depth RHD, That's a pretty tall order for one season

Soucy is 28yr old, 6’5” and 210lbs that made $2.75M on his last contract.
He might want a longer term deal. So probably $4M x 6-8yrs.
He was Seattle's 5th Dman. If we have to compete in a bidding war for a 4th or 5th Dman, we should say NO, Stay patient

It's just a starting, at least two more big moves before the session starts, I expect they will avoid a 10 mil plus contract

Petey is going to want 10.5-11+ for 8 years, trade him and the 11th to Ducks for 2OA.

You need to talk to our owner if that’s th3 direction you want. He’s the one who set the philosophy of constant build and no steps back.
Another WIN for Aqua, another LOSE for the fanbase. We thought getting rid of Benning would help us, but clearly Aqua's tendrils have infected Allvin and this front office..

Look at Tampa (who Allvin models this team after)
From 2008 - 2014 they drafted these players:
2007 Killorn 3rd round, 77th
2008 Stamkos 1st overall
2009 Hedman 2nd overall
2011 Kucherov 2nd round, 58th
2012 Vasileskiy 19th overall
2014 Point 3rd round, 79th
2015 Cirelli 3rd round, 72nd
Eight years of consistent finds in the draft to build a core that they’ve continued to roll with for the following eight years, moving picks for depth complementary players and consistently moving on from mid-tier players that demanded too large of contracts. It’s a fantastic model but one that can’t be replicated unless your top guys are patient enough to let the process play out.
Hughes and Pettersson clearly aren’t like Stamkos and Kucherov no matter how badly Rutherford and Allvin want them to be.
Blow it the f•ck up and build it properly. But as people said it’s just pissing in the wind with this team.

PA is a fking liar, trade him until too late, do we want a Gaudreau situation?
