  1. Just watched the first episode of Hitler's Last Stand. This episode was about Canada's Regina Company costly attack on a Nazi occupied French Stronghold. Here's a link if you want to watch it. https://view.yahoo.com/show/hitlers-last-stand/episode/61132289/panzer-fury Since Canada Day is only a few hours away, you can feel all patriotic and whatnot while watching it.

Alan Eagleson was once elected to the HHOF (he did later resign before they had a chance to expel him...).

Is the HHOF really that much better than the WWE hall of fame?  It's the Hall of the very good.

      HOF has become a joke.

Ferraro is right. No standing commissioner should be allowed into the HHOF until he retires.

If he announces this is his last season, it would  be more reasonable.

That's like awarding Crosby into the HHOF before he retires.

  2. For those of you worried about Hughes' height, The Sabres' coach Phil Housley is 5'10" and he is in the Hockey Hall of Fame for his play as a defenseman.  And he did it in the 80's & 90's when the game was MUCH rougher than it is today.

This is showing what I've been saying for a while.  The Canucks and Sabres have very similar needs.  Both skilled offensive defensemen and line depth.

He looked frail, but he’s young and I’ve seen guys at the height and weight that look bigger because they had more muscle less bodyfat.  So a body recomp at his age would be relatively easy.

Ive never seen Hughes play, but if he’s shifty like Gaudreau/Kane..he prob doesn’t even need to worry about packing on the muscle.

    4. SabreFan1

      SabreFan1

He'll pack on muscle and density as he ages.  Your body doesn't stop growing/changing until around 25.  I'm not worried about Hughes at all.

  3. I'll bet he's most likely going to one of the new spring leagues. May not even be good enough for the CFL at this point.
  4. Just found out about what's going on with Chris Hardwick.  Supposedly his ex has recordings.  He's pretty much boned.

Don't get me wrong, if this all does prove to be true, and the evidence backs up Dykstra's claims, then blacklist the son of a bitch.

Yep. Agree with all this. I'm hoping it's not true as I really enjoy CH, but if it is then no mercy...

  6. Ben was a dirty cheetah too!
  7. If I had millions of dollars at stake, I'd juice up. He better be careful though from now on. Next time the suspension is 10 games. 3rd catch is a full season.
  8. They would if the NFL made the effort.
  9. I wish I was the one that came up with Cheatriots because I've always gotten a chuckle out of it, but it's been around since the first time the Pats got caught cheating. Believe it or not I only heard someone use the Nills for the first time a month or two ago. Before that it was always the Jills, but the problem with using that was that Bills now frmr. cheerleaders were called that so someone could be shot down quick if they used that name. Edelman most likely screwed up his down cycle of the PED or masking agent that he was taking. I'd be willing to bet at least half of all NFL players use them especially as they get older and the injuries start to take their toll. Former NFL players have come out and said that the NFL's testing policy is pretty ineffective since they're almost always told in advance when the tests are being done. If the NFL ever hired USADA to do their testing, suspensions all over the league would quickly pile up. USADA doesn't play games.
  10. Without a competent backup QB this time around, that would definitely hurt.
  11. The Cheatriots just keep on cheating......
  12. Most coaches are using the running game these days only to keep defenses in tighter so they can spread open the field for their passing games. The players are too big and fast in today's modern defenses to ever go back and be successful with the old NFC/NFL style of offensive play. Not to mention all of the rule changes over the last number of years that have cut down on contact especially on the QB. The dominant passing game is here to stay.
  13. I can't argue his college credentials because you could count the number of USC games that I watched back then on one hand. As for his NFL credentials, I'll consider him Pro HoF material if he can at least bring another team to the SB. He doesn't have to win it, just get there with the newer core of players they are now putting together. He has a franchise QB to work with so he has a decent chance.
  14. It will be interesting to see what Carroll can do now that the Seahawks are trending downwards. I'm curious to see if his NFL pedigree was a product of his team or vice versa. I just can't to this day shake my memories of him with the Jets and the Patriots. It was pretty bad. To be fair, I'm sure there are people that remember Marv Levy, who ended up in the HoF, from his KC days that wondered the same about him when he was winning with the Bills. However I was too young to remember his KC days where he was mediocre.
  15. I wrote what I remember when I watched him during his AFC East years. He sucked as the Jets head coach and was mediocre with the Patriots. So you think a coach with a less than .600 winning percentage in both the regular season and post-season and one Super Bowl win is one of the NFL's best coaches ever? Good God you have a low bar for greatness!
  16. Of course there are real lifelong Seahawks fans out there, but as evidenced lately plenty have hopped off of the bandwagon now that they are no longer perennial contenders. I don't remember if Seattle ever came close to losing their franchise, but I still do remember the half empty stadiums every Sunday during a good stretch of the 90's. They didn't start picking up in attendance until sometime in the middle 00's I believe. I still have very clear memories of Pete Carroll being a terrible coach with the Jets so the call for a pass that lost them the SB wasn't shocking to me. Now that they have to rebuild the team we'll see if he is the coach that people think he is or if he is just a coach who rode on a very good team's coattails. I honestly don't know for sure, but I can't shake the memories I have of him when he coached the Jets.
  17. People all over North America have been falling hard and fast off of the Seahawks bandwagon the last couple of years. Fortunately for the Seahawk owners, their local fans haven't given up yet so they continue to sell-out tickets at home. Up into the 90's the Seahawks would sometimes play in a half-full stadium. Not even the locals cared about the team until they started winning.
  18. Just read a funny comment on an NBCSports comment section after the NHL lottery draw that made me laugh:

    Quote

Congrats to Sabres. Top center, top defenseman…enjoy!

Now please stop sucking so somebody else can have their turn.

I think that helps sum up what a majority of the fanbases of the other bottom 10 teams in the league think.

Considering you don't automatically get the top pick by finishing last anymore I'd say they might already by at that point tbh, if not very close

Hopefully Buffalo finally begins to pull it's $&!# together

@48MPHSlapShot@Coconuts It took about 5-6 years, and Pittsburgh almost losing it's franchise for the Penguins to get out of the bottom 10.  They needed Crosby an Malkin to do it.

If Botterill ends up failing to pull them out of the bottom 10 and loses his job in the next 2 seasons, then I'll be the first to call the Sabres the Eastern Oilers.

By all accounting though Botterill is a very good executive who did a very good job during his years in Pittsburgh.  He ended up doing well with the Kane trade and Mittelstadt looks to be a good choice.  He played well for the several games he was in the NHL for at the end of last season when most of the rest of the team was going through the motions.

Now Botterill needs to work on the Sabres depth and get a good goalie.

I'm hoping he can manage it, it might come across that way but I don't hate your team or anything. I'm just bitter because we keep getting shafted when it comes to the draft. I think it's that way for a lot of fans of low finishing teams.

  19. Actually the Pegulas love Buffalo and Kraft loves Boston. Most people don't realize that Kraft saved the Patriots in Boston. They were once a pitiful franchise that struggled to get people to watch them both in person and at their stadium and on TV. The Pegulas could move the Bills to San Antonio tomorrow and double or triple the worth of the team if they chose to. Buffalo is the second smallest NFL market. They don't because Terry Pegula once lived in Buffalo and was a Bills/Sabres fan.
  20. Yes, but people keep forgetting that I'm a bit of a prick. I like to pick on people occasionally. Pats bandwagon fans, 90% of which are incredibly thin skinned, are the easiest to catch after chumming the waters. Unfortunately the bandwagoners got themselves banned a year or two ago. Fortunately 50% of long time hardcore fans are just as thin-skinned as the bandwagoners. The odds beared that out here. I was able to reel in 1 of the 2 hardcore Pats fans left on CDC. The Bills lost 4 Superbowls in a row. I quickly learned to take it in stride. If you remember, after they lost two, nobody wanted to see them in the Superbowl again. I reveled in the fact that the Bills were p*ssing off the entire country by going back again. That's when the acronym Boy I Love Losing Superbowls came into being among other jokes that I laughed at. Such as this one in Futurama where they shoot the Superbowl losers into space every year: As long as you don't have a mangina you can take shots at your team in stride.
  21. At a certain age lip kissing becomes weird but it's cute if a father/mother kisses their young kids. As for Belichick, maybe they prefer "to keep it in the family". As long as they don't reproduce and weaken the gene pool, what two consenting adults do.....
  22. That's ridiculous. I've seen plenty of people over the years kiss their kids on the lips. At a certain age it becomes creepy, but not when they're still very young.
  23. Is there something that I haven't heard about with Brady? @NucksPatsFanwas saying that someone was calling him a pedo?
