Gotta love the wannabe mods on the “Adults Table.”  Removed by Heffy for calling out a different mod.  Didnt violate any rules. Just called out an abuse of ‘power’.  Guess wannabe mods dont like criticism?

Literally LITERALLY a series of comments about important it is to have people on there with different opinions to keep others honest and critique while offering a different point of view.  A place where you can be open minded and call out others for boorish opinions and for acting like petulant know it alls.

But you got removed for calling out a different mod...by a guy who regularly suggests physically harming or murdering other hockey players on different teams and committing genocide against citizens of a nation in conflict because he is on the other side; for not acting like an adult?

      K.  Seems about right for that person.

I must have missed something. I saw nothing about anybody wanting to harm or murder opposing team’s hockey players. Nor have I seen anything about calling for a genocide.

  2. Maxime Comtois? Surprised ANH didnt qualify him. Supposedly he had no involvement in the 2018 Canada WJC incident.  Could Tocchett get the most out of him?

They’d all most likely come in at a million or less and we have $12.1 million in cap space as of right now

Looks like they've got lots of competition as UFAs.  Don't think they'd be in a position to demand much.

I'd take a chance on Comtois for sure. I'm sure he'll get plenty of calls tomorrow.

  3. Lammikko had a pretty good year in the Swiss-A league. Bet Tocchett would have liked him.

Yea he was solid - size, 51% on the dot, 93 hits, killed penalties. Underlying stats were pretty meh but he felt better than a lot of the expensive vets we had over the years.

Already happened a couple of years ago for me.

I was at the bank, just walking back outside. There's a planter by the bus stop. So I guess a pair of crows made it their nest. The female crow was cawing like crazy.

The male crow attacked me and clawed my scalp. I had to use the mask I was wearing (It was not long after covid) as a bandage to stop the bleeding. I was more worried about the old lady by the bus stop.

I got some rubbing alcohol, went home. Applied the alcohol to my scalp and took a shower just in case.

      Hurt like freaking hell.

  7. Wouldnt it be fantastic for the Leafs to finally make it out of the first round, only to result in a second round sweep.

  8. Good Tocchett interview on Missin Curfew

  9. TIRE PRICES: holy heck! I read there are supply issues and inflation hasnt helped but I cant believe how much prices have jumped. What used to be the price for top performance tires now gets you the more budget brands/generic types. And the cost of performance tires are now easily over $400 going up to $500+ each! That’s crazy.

  10. I understand the tankists, but when it comes down to it, isnt lady luck more important for a top 3 pick  if you finish outside of the top three? (even then you still need massive lady luck in the top three)

    1. Guest

      Guest

It's true, but a bottom 8 finish can guarantee us a great center or right handed d-man.  If we slide down to 9th or 10th, we're looking at another small winger.

    2. Angry Goose

    3. DrJockitch

      DrJockitch

Demko is back to Demko and pressure is off. We will be rising fast with the teams ahead of us in the standings having decided that the TDL is a place to sell assets for a premium, drop in the standings and retool in the off-season when the options are less limited.
It is about maximizing chance of success in the lottery and overall by selling at times when prices are high and buying when they are low.  Or it should be, our plan is about messaging to season ticket holders and short term playoff revenue.

what is it that the canucks did wrong with his treatment?

    3. Curmudgeon

      Curmudgeon

Not sure the Canucks did anything wrong. Wrist/hand injuries can be really difficult to treat, simply because about fifteen bones meet at the wrist. Really, it's like a jigsaw puzzle in there. And if I heard correctly, there is an infection that is like a superbug that is largely resistant to antibiotics. He also requires a fifth surgery at some point.

    4. lmm

      lmm

that is what I heard also, not sure why Pearson would be upset with the canucks on this one. there are a lot of people that could be mad for one reason or another. Pearson would be ow on my list. wondering if I missed something

  14. Friedman stated re: Canucks trades that the Canucks “maybe” trade Demko.

I find that a bit baffling.  Theyve got him for 3 more years after this one.  Silovs is still a project.  Goaltending is obviously one of the toughest positions to fill. PA/JR want to turn things around within the next 2 years-what’s the rationale?

Could we be seeing a Horvat for Spencer Knight trade (or something like that)? Then trade Demko for other areas of need?

  15. Anytime I type out Tocchet the double c throws me off

  16. Horvat for Mercer, Huala (cap dump & trade), Johnsson (cap dump) and a conditional pick (if he re-signs)

Try and get Chytill in off season if NYR are in a cap crunch.

    3. Angry Goose

      Angry Goose

@PhillipBlunt Dont think Shaw was really that huge of a difference maker.  That style of defending is pretty much league standard.  Canucks were still getting shelled nightly and dealing with extended D zone shifts. But at least they didnt look so discombobulated with who is checking who.

    4. PhillipBlunt

      PhillipBlunt

I do. His approach and systems were part of what made the d-corps in both St. Louis and Columbus effective for the time he was there and for at least a season or two after he left both teams as a defensive coach.

Miller and Horvat for Dobson and Barzal?

  21. [discussion] OEL

MIN is still doing pretty good despite having Parise and Suter on their books.

Ive been playing around with the buy out calculator for OEL. I wonder IF you retain 2 million on OEL and OEL agrees to a trade, can u move him?

Its definitely better in some years than a 4 million + cap hit and more or less the same for the 2 million + buy-out years.

If we're going to try and stay competitive, then dead cap will kill us, but if we're fully rebuilding and acquire some picks and bad contracts to bomb, then why not?

    3. King Heffy

      King Heffy

Because over a long term it handicaps the franchise too much.  I'm fine with a bad contract that can eventually moved, but any GM who either retains salary or uses a buyout needs to be fired on the spot.

    4. Elias Pettersson

      Elias Pettersson

I'd try and move him first.  Retaining $2 million would be fine if JR decides to do a proper rebuild, as the dead cap would be off the books in 4 years once we hopefully are a playoff team again.  At $5 million perhaps he has positive value and we can get a pick or prospect for him.  We would need to convince him that we are rebuilding and that he should move on to a cup contender.  Perhaps he doesn't want to be here either and live through another rebuild like Arizona.  Who knows.

  22. I legit wonder if mgmt is sticking to their 2 year plan. There’s a big chunk of the roster they need to “transition” out with homerun moves.  Tall task.

@chon derry@Elias Pettersson @naslund.is.king maybe u guys can answer this for me: if JTM were to be traded before his new contract kicks in, can they retain money only for this season / current contract?

    3. Elias Pettersson

      Elias Pettersson

@Angry Goose Yes, his current contract is completely separate from his new one, so any trade could involve retention just for this year...

    4. Ghostsof1915

      Ghostsof1915

Hughes is an assist machine, but his primary job is to defend. He's not a forward. And he can get outmuscled, and outworked. If he can bring in a homerun in return I say move him. And that goes for pretty much everyone.

  23. Wrote a massive [proposal] then thought forget it - Ill see if mgmt actually does anything.  I did think my Pearson to LAK (1 million retained) was a good idea tho.

    1. Alflives

      Alflives

Pearson is no on Long term injury.  If we hold on to him until next season, his UFA year, he will actually have value (likely a fourth rounder) at the 2024 TDL.  We should have done this with Dickinson too.  Aquilini must allow rebuilding moves.  Keep our craperolla, overpaid older guys until their UFA years and trade them for assets, instead of giving up assets (and our future) to dumperoo them early.  We stink in thenow, so what’s the point of moves that aren’t intended to build for a better future.

    2. mll

      mll

LAK has no room at F and will likely have to move out a winger this off-season.  Pearson also far too slow.  Kings have become a really fast team.

Blake also insists on age fit - Pearson too old for the players they are building around.

    3. Elias Pettersson

      Elias Pettersson

Nobody wants Pearson even though some on here thinks he is an asset to Vancouver and actually has value.  I am pretty sure JR was trying to trade him in the summer with no takers.  As Alf said, maybe we can unload him at the 2024 TDL for a pick.
