Honestly reminds me of younger Shea Theodore (mobility wise-how he covers the ice). His cross overs are so quick-I hope we see it at development camp. Ah gotcha and I see what you mean. Cam Robinson (who is usually pretty conservative about Canucks prospect) said his ceiling (if he hits it) is a top 2 dman. I thought I was on drugs for maybe thinking that but I guess time will tell. He seems to have those quick first few steps to hang w the better skaters too. From what Ive gleaned so far, I bet he’s a development staffs dream. He definitely has to improve, but the potential to work w is there.

I dont know if see Hamhuis as a comparable. Willander is very elusive, especially laterally. He can walk the line and change directions quick. Hamhuis was more of a sturdy, north/south kind of guy but still a good skater. Kinda like what I was hoping for Woo

I keep thinking once Willander physically matures/develops that high end athleticism, he’s got the mobility and underrated offensive skills to be, dare I say, a player like Shea Theodore. I genuinely see that 2 way potential, to be excellent all over the ice like ST if he can hit his ceiling. So yeah, Im pretty happy w this pick.

if there’s one thing you shouldn’t do w Willander, it’s judge him based on counting stats. Go watch some tape on him. Then combine those skills with how dedicated he is to improving.

OJ’s lack of skating killed him. TW is already a superb skater. And by all accounts TW is a very dedicated athlete. Opting to goto BOS U illustrates that.

I bet he goes tomorrow. on 32 thoughts they were saying how if a team were to select him and Burns it would be a tire fire on the ice every shift lol.

look at where Seider was ‘ranked’ and selected. I see a lot of upside in TW. The fact hes leaving SWE to play in the NCAA is a superb move for his development.

Insee a future D-Petey/Willander pair. Heck we might even see it at the WJC
