    Fun team to watch

  2. Is the Gaming forum gone?

Also, all these PS5 scalpers are seriously pissing me off.  Bunch of losers.

He's got no cap space to go the free agent route that much and it also makes trades extremely difficult.....so it's not like he has alot of options available.

Not doing anything might be the best move he can make.  Let's see what the drafted guys can do & fill in the rest of the positions with cheap UFA's.

What this club doesn't need is another franchise killing Loui E type of contract.

  4. OK.  Looks like Matt Benning is going to be an UFA.  I think he would be a great fit but get the feeling he doesn't want his uncle to be a distraction

He probably won't be signed here. Benning's gonna cost too much and I think the nepotism factor between him and Jim may mean he avoids signing Matthew. Watch him end up in Pittsburgh or something.

    3. NewbieCanuckFan

      NewbieCanuckFan

His likely QA would've been around $2 million.  That's WAY too much for us (given our present cap situation).  If he's looking for the league minimum (which would fit our structure), the Coilers could just as well beat that by half a million.

    4. RonMexico

      RonMexico

Oooof Coilers get 13 games out of Athanasiou for two 2nd round picks. Benning would have been drawn and quartered for letting that happen.

Time to see what Demko can do.  If Toffoli also walks I want us to go all in for Pietrangelo.

      Angry Goose

@King Heffy I cant see them losing Markstrom and Toffolii- I would be very surprised.  Markstrom is the lynchpin holding things up.  If it looks like Markstrom is priced out I bet they get Toffoli signed asap & find someone to split duties with Demko

$10 million/ 2 year contract ($5 AAV), no clause, but a statue to immortalize him outside Rogers Arena for his MVP seasons.  Hope they don't give him more than Lehner, and certainly not more term.

  6. Status Update 2:  so for the longest time fans wanted to see the canucks get younger.  Has that changed?  If canucks can’t move money out chances are you’ll see more young players in the line up so long as they can earn it.....rather than some of the players names being bandied about?

@Zhukini I dont know about opposite.  Id say there are a lot of cooler heads on this forum, and of course the ra-ra types as well.  Pretty fair balance btw the two

    Much appreciated.

  9. OK.  Listening to Canucks media availability zoom calls.  There is a female host/PR person? that keeps cutting people off after an initial answer when media presents questions.  Can someone please rationalize this for me because it is DRIVING ME &^@#ING CRAZY.

What about the media person that hosted the draft lottery yesterday? I'm like could you be a more corporate shill?

This is the problem with media. People will give anything to make money, and be on TV.

They will sell out all their principles to make a buck.

@brilac my wife and I are crazy animal people.  I had the sense your cats stayed indoors- just wanted to ask.  I'm guessing boredom and inactivity isn't an issue for u?  I just went out and bought the smallest harness possible.  Tomorrow is day 1 of outside leash training.  As far as outdoor cats go, I completely understand.  Had to save a small cat the other night on my way home from an owl stalking it.

@King Heffyfor sure.  We only buy good quality pet food from our pet store.  Wet food only for this little guy

@SILLY GOOSE, Georgie is a lot of fun! I got her at the perfect time in February.  She loves all her toys, has taken over the living room, demands being petted, only drinks water from the sink, enjoys watching TV, and thinks the Yoga mat is hers.  She's laying on it right now.

Although I think they cost more now.  We bought ours 4 years ago and never regretted it.  Even if we only use it a couple of weeks each year, it is worth it.

When I was in my early 20's, single and had no food in my freezer - I used to cram my sheet and pillows in it on hot days.

Lived in a old south facing, top floor apartment overlooking a parking lot.

&^@# that place used to get so hot.

Factory farming is a disgusting industry. I considered a vegetarian life but instead I started to take hunting and fishing seriously or buy from local, small scale farms with practices more aligned with my ethics. I know that's not the answer for everyone, especially people who live in cities or people who are living at or below the poverty line.

Its a complicated subject but there must be a better solution than extreme suffering.

    2. Angry Goose

      Angry Goose

      @KristoffWixenschon that's a thoughtful response.

I agree with you, like many other horrific things going on in the world, there needs to be change.  Transparency and people trying to put their best foot forward is a good first step :metal:

    3. KristoffWixenschon

      KristoffWixenschon

Well I hope my response to this reality was thoughtful. I hope to always put thought into my actions. I'm sure we both approached this issue with the best of our intentions and consulted our inner ethics. I think we achieved different outcomes but I deeply respect the thoughtfulness in your decisions!

  14. Is Thatcher Demko on social media at all?  Read in Murphy's interview that he likes to read moral philosophy/ethics which is kind of cool.  Would like to recommend a book if possible.

    https://www.sportsnet.ca/650/the-program/peter-loubardias-micheal-ferland-just-put-everything-together-reach-another-level/

Interesting thoughts on Ferland, Virtanen, Travis Green and the Canucks and their progression in general, from a CGY perspective.

@ReggieBush He’ll retire or be traded with Goldobin imo. He shouldn’t risk getting another concussion and Goldy is just too inconsistent to be given a spot.

those 2 and baer shore up the l wing nicely

let's focus on improving the d in the offseason

a bit more quality in the d will improve the offense group

in fact, that will improve the offense more then adding any individual offensive player

  20. Hughes Tanev

    Hutton Stetcher

    Edler Gudbranson

      NewbieCanuckFan

A bit early to be giving Hughes top 4 minutes.  Pair him up with Guds (who can at least protect him if opposing forwards take too many liberties on the small rookie).  Guds has worked well will an offensively skilled D partner (in Florida) so it could be a good fit as well.

  21. Give a listen to Higgins and B. Morrison on sportnet 650 (rintoul and walker, last Fridays show).  Some great conversation about other players and their time in the NHL.

  22. Id like to see McEneny or Sautner get a legit chance. Biega too.

      Odd.

Evan McEneny has done a terrific job down there in Utica. He needs to start seeing some action with the big boys. Pouliot hasn't been cutting it.

With or without Petey, I hope they play the same way they did against Florida.

He's got only one fewer point as Virtanen (and plays center).  Seems to be doing 'ok' for the Panthers.
